When is Homebirth safer than Hospital birth
When is Homebirth safer than Hospital birth
When is Homebirth safer than Hospital birth
Low risk healthy mothers risk of dying at homebirth: 1 per million
at hospital 1/10,000.
Low risk perinatal mortality rates by setting and provider:
Homebirth with well trained attendant 0.35 to 0.5/1000 newborn deaths in first week
Low risk hospital birth 1/1000 newborn deaths in first week
Homebirth with DEM or lay midwife 4 to 5/1000 newborn deaths in first week.

Commonsense Childbirth Inc. Reducing Infant Mortality
September is Infant Mortality Awareness Month - every year! And as it draws to a close for 2014 I feel moved to make a firm commitment that by this time next year our work will have created a change in communities around the USA.
*The launch of the Perinatal Task Force*
In every 'maternal toxic area' in the United States my goal is to see that, at a minimum, there is a Perinatal Safe Spot operating within a reasonable geographical radius or accessible via our virtual electronic network. Each area, zone or network will be manned (woman-ed!) by a JJ Way connected person, team or agency - simply because at this time, place and juncture it is
