A heavy dust storm roared into Iran's capital Tehran on Monday evening, killing at least four people and injuring 30 others. The dust storm swept Tehran at around 17h 2/6/14, with winds of up to 110 kilometers per hour, blocking out the sun and knocking down trees, Iran's state television reported. The report said the storm killed five people, while Iran's official IRNA news agency said it killed four people, and that one of them died after falling from a roof top. The state television reported that other cities in central Iran were also hit by the dust storm, but there were no reports of causalities. Authorities warned people to remain indoors. BREAKING NEWS-Tehran Warned of New Sandstorm as Death Toll Hits Five
Iranian authorities warned on Tuesday that a second sandstorm could hit Tehran, a day after freak weather killed five people in the capital. Monday's huge sandstorm and record winds plunged Tehran into darkness for 15 minutes during rush hour and forced thousands to run for cover. "One of the casualties, who was hospitalised after being hit by debris, lost his life due to the severe injuries," the official IRNA news agency reported Tuesday, raising the death toll to five. The winds, as high as 110-120 kilometres per hour (70-80 miles per hour), levelled trees and swept other heavy material across streets and into the windscreens of cars as people headed home from work. The news of the sandstorm and highest winds in 50 years hit the first page of capital's newspapers, along with criticism of forecasters for failing to predict or warn citizens of the approaching storm. The surprise weather disrupted a ceremony for the national football team before they depart for the World Cup in Brazil, with President Hassan Rouhani cancelling his planned speech, leaving a 12,000-seat stadium largely empty. Ahad Vazifeh, head of Tehran's weather forecasting and warnings unit, said his team had informed "relevant authorities" about the sandstorm. However, he said the timescale and wind speeds were not completely predictable. His comments appeared to be the response for the anger in some media towards his department for failing to give adequate warnings. But Mohammad Ali Aziz-Oghli, the city's chief forecaster, warned of another sandstorm hitting Tehran at about 3:00 pm (1030 GMT), albeit not of the same strength. People should stay indoors, he told IRNA. Power supplies were knocked out in at least 50,000 homes Monday, an electricity official said. ساعت ۵ عصر روز ۱۲ خرداد ۹۳، طوفان شدیدی، هوای تهران را زیر و رو کرد. وزش باد شدید و طوفان و گرد و خاک که از سمت قم و ساوه به تهران آمده بود تا دو ساعت دیگر ادامه می یابد و با آغاز رگبار و رعد و برق پایان می گیرد. وی افزود این طوفان و گرد و خاک در تهران در حال حاضر با سرعت 33 متر بر ثانیه و 119 کیلومتر بر ساعت در جریان است. نقشینه اظهار داشت: به شهروندان تهرانی توصیه می شود در طول وزش باد شدید از خانه های خود بیرون نرفته و از عبور از زیر درختان و ساختمانهای در دست ساخت که احتمال سقوط مصالح را دارد خوداری کنند. گفتنی است که پیش بینی هوا صبح امروز وضعیت آب و هوای استان "تهران"را نیمه ابری، در بعدازظهر افزایش ابر و رگبار و رعد و برق و شهر تهران، وزش باد شدید و گرد و خاک و رگبار و رعد و برق پیش بینی کرده بود و استان تهران در بیشینه دمای خود به 33 درجه بالای صفر و در کمترین حالت به 22 درجه بالای صفر خواهد رسید و همچنین دمای شهر تهران در حال حاضر27 درجه بالای صفر است. سرهنگ محمدحسین حمیدی در گفتگو با خبرنگار اجتماعی باشگاه خبرنگاران در تشریح خبر فوق گفت: براساس آخرین گزارشات دریافتی از مرکز کنترل ترافیک راههای کشور هماکنون در اکثر محورهای استان آذربایجان شرقی، البرز، قم بارش پراکنده باران گزارش شده و در سایر راهها و محورهای مواصلاتی کشور وضعیت جوی آرام گزارش شده است. این مقام مسئول پلیس در خاتمه به وضعیت ترافیکی اشاره کرد و اظهار داشت: برهمین اساس تردد در کلیه جادهها و معابر کشور عادی و روان گزارش شده است و محورهای شهداد به نهبندان و قم به گرمسار تا اطلاع ثانوی مسدود است. به گزارش خبرنگار حوادث باشگاه خبرنگاران وظیفه مسئول اطلاع رسانی اورژانس تهران گفت: طوفان باعث مصدوم شدن 17 نفر شد که دو نفر از آنان به بیمارستان منتقل و بقیه به صورت سرپایی مداوا شدند. وی اضافه کرد: بیشتر صدمات به علت برخورد مصالح ساختمانی، شکستن درخت و ضربه به سر گزارش شده است. مسئول اطلاع رسانی اورژانس تهران درباره دو نفر فوتی اضافه کرد: یک نفر در منطقه نارمک تهران و مردی 25 ساله در منطقه جنت آباد فوت شدند که یکی از آنان راکب موتورسیکلت بود. راهنده به تصادفی در اتوبان تهران - قم اشاره و اضافه کرد: بیش از20 خودرو به علت طوفان در منطقه تیر چراغ برق 75 در این اتوبان با هم برخورد کردند که این تصادف 8 مصدوم به جای گذاشته است. دریک پدیده جوی کم سابقه،هوای تهران ازحدود ساعت پنج بعد ازظهر بشدت منقلب شدوگردبادی مهیب مناطق مختلف این شهر را در برگرفت .بر اثر این گرد باد و پدیده جوی نادر ،اسمان تهران حدود ساعت پنج بعدازظهربرای دقایقی کاملا تاریک شد .با فروکش کردن شدت گرد بادبادشدید وباران اسمان تهران را دربرگرفت وبه تدریج از وخامت اوضاع کاسته شد.- published: 02 Jun 2014
