STORY: This interview is about Alison Carey the older sister of Pop superstar Mariah Carey. I know that everything in this interview is all in the past and over and as I said in the Alison Carey slideshow tribute "I for one hope that everybody is willing to put the past behind them". The reason why I posted the interview is to let everyone know that bad things happen to people in life and you shouldn't judge them for it. The things that Alison was going through with the prostitution and drug abuse problems. I myself believe that Alison isn't doing that anymore and I believe that she is doing better in life now. And there's another thing no matter how old someone is, they can change because prior to age I definitely believe that the impossible can be accomplished. Alison was born to Alfred Roy Carey and Patricia Hickey in August, 1961. The story begins with Alison and her mother, Patricia who picked up her seven year old son, Michael Scott for what Alison thought was a regular weekend visit but it wasn't, instead it was the last time Alison would get to see her son for a very long time. Alison says that she has done this routine weekend visit before. Mariah's sister, Alison Carey has not had the happiest life let alone the easiest one. In 1977 when Alison was sixteen she became a mother and was already married to a man named Richard McDonald, the father. They named their son Shawn but unfortunately, Alison couldn't find a job because nobody wanted to hire her and claims she never had any experience doing anything. She knew that she had to get a job and that it was important for her, but she couldn't find one. But she didn't stay home either so instead she turned to the streets for money and became a prostitute and got into drugs after. Ten years later, in 1987 when Alison was 26 she was married again to a man named Dale Scott and had her second son, Michael but when Michael was barely one year old, Alison's life had fallen into terrible despair then that following year in 1988 when Alison was 27 she tested positive for the AIDS virus in other words HIV. Although Alison and Dale was only married for four years from 1985 to 1989. Alison's mother came to pick up Michael for a weekend visit but she ended up taking him because of Alison's history of drug abuse. During the early and mid 90's was an era in Alison's life when things were going very badly for her when she was trying to shake her drug problems in Rehab and also after her son Michael was taken away from her by her mother then that turned into a serious custody battle. The story of this crisis first got out in Linda Stasi's column in the New York Daily News in December, 1994. It involves Alison, her son, Michael and her mother, Patricia and Alison believed that her sister, Mariah offered financial assistance to care for him. In 1973 when Alison was eleven and a half, the parents Alfred Roy and Patricia divorced due to the interracial problems in their marriage and the bad discrimination for it but not under any terms of it being a bad marriage so she was sent to live with her father. Mariah and their oldest brother Morgan Carey however, remained with Patricia. For her Mariah, life was very different, anyone with a Radio or TV was about to know the name of "Mariah Carey". Mariah dedicated her first studio album to Alison five years earlier before this interview in the summer of 1990 when Mariah was 20 and Alison was 28 and a half. During the time of both Alison's TV interviews, she believed the album dedication was only meant to make Mariah look like a good sister and said "I'm sorry I just think that that's kind of.. beneath contempt". During the early 1990's at the start of her singing career, Mariah was a young girl in her early 20's and Alison was a young woman in her late 20's and early 30's Mariah had paid several times to have Alison put in drug rehab but I don't know if there was any progress made or not. The custody trial was scheduled to begin next month in April, 1995 meanwhile the judge awarded temporary custody to Mariah's mother Patricia, Alison failed to show up for one of the case hearings, she said she was sick. Alison Carey is in my prayers and I hope and pray that everything turns out wonderful and happy for her. Alison's previous interview which was her first one was recorded and broadcasted on the "A Current Affair" news in December, 1994 during the same time her son was taken.
