The Italian People's Party (Partito Popolare Italiano, PPI) was a Christian-democratic political party in Italy.
It was founded in 1919 by Luigi Sturzo, a Catholic priest. The PPI was backed by Pope Benedict XV to oppose the Italian Socialist Party (PSI). In the 1919 general election the party won 20.5% of the vote and 100 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, a result confirmed in 1921.
The PPI was the second largest Italian political party after the PSI at the time. Its heartlands were in interior Veneto and north-western Lombardy. In 1919 the party won 42.6% in Veneto (49.4% in Vicenza), 30.1% in Lombardy (64.3% in Bergamo), 24.4% in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, 27.3% in the Marche and 26.2% in Lazio, while it was much weaker in Piedmont and in Southern Italy.
The PPI was divided into two factions: the "Catholic Democrats" were favourable to an accord with the Socialists, while the "Moderate Clericalists" supported an alliance with the liberal parties, what eventually happened. The latter included Alcide De Gasperi. Some Populars took part to Benito Mussolini's first government in 1922, leading the party to a division between opponents of Mussolini and those who supported him. These eventually joined the National Fascist Party. The PPI was declared illegal by the Fascist regime in 1925. Most of the PPI members later took part to Christian Democracy.

Back home, La Mafia has performed in front of three record-setting crowds at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at the Houston Astrodome.
Franz Theodor Reizenstein (7 June 1911 – 15 October 1968) was a German-born British composer and concert pianist. He left Germany for sanctuary in Britain in 1934 and went on to have his career there, including teaching at the Royal Northern College of Music and Boston University, as well as performing.
Franz Reizenstein's parents were Dr. Albert Reizenstein (1871-1925) and Lina Kohn (b. 1880), both of Nuremberg, Germany. The family was Jewish and counted many professionals and musically inclined people among its members.
Reizenstein grew up in Nuremberg and was considered a child prodigy. He composed his first pieces when he was 5, and by the age of 17 he had written a string quartet. His well-to-do and artistic family encouraged him to play chamber music at home. Eventually he was sent to study under Paul Hindemith at the Berliner Hochschule für Musik.
In 1934 he emigrated to England at the age of 23 to escape the Nazis, one of nearly 70 Jewish composers to do so from 1933-1945. Once in England, he furthered his studies under Ralph Vaughan Williams at the Royal College of Music, and began to incorporate English music into his works. He also studied the piano for eleven years with Solomon Cutner. He eventually became a professor at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music (then the Royal Manchester College of Music) in Manchester. Amongst his pupils at the Royal Academy of Music was Philip Martin who he taught piano and composition. His compositional posts were extended when he was invited for six months as a Visiting Professor of Composition at Boston University in the United States, where there were also special concerts given of his works.
Yvonne Arnaud (20 December 1890 – 20 September 1958) was a French-born pianist, singer and actress.
Germaine Yvonne Arnaud was born in 1890. She entered the Paris Conservatoire at age 9, studying piano under Alphonse Duvernoy and other teachers. From 1905 (at age 12) to 1911 she performed with leading orchestras throughout Europe and USA, under conductors such as Édouard Colonne, Arthur Nikisch, Willem Mengelberg, Vasily Safonov, Gustav Mahler and Alexander Siloti. In 1911 she decided to try the stage instead of the concert hall and obtained the lead role in the musical The Girl in the Taxi. She also had a lead in Kissing Time (1919). However, an operation damaged her vocal cords so she switched from musicals to plays.
Her stage career lasted many years, with several films made during the 1930s. Arnaud's likeness was drawn in caricature by Alex Gard for Sardi's, the New York City theater district restaurant. The picture is now part of the collection of the New York Public Library.
She still occasionally performed as a pianist, for example, with the Hallé Orchestra under Sir John Barbirolli in Manchester in 1948. And she was the soloist at the premiere of Franz Reizenstein's pastiche Concerto Popolare at the 1956 Hoffnung Festival (having been chosen after Eileen Joyce declined).

And all the causes that you're fighting for can't stand up to your tan
Flip-flop and recreate yourself so you can make the common stand
Out in front of the clinic holding signs, pretending that you mind
You take the things that no one should say
And you put them on display
Come off your soapbox
Let us think for ourselves
And I swear we will find our way
So now you've got your bridge, you've got your friends
You've finally got your chance
To take the plunge just like a lemming should
To jump with all of them
Battles with the stubborn and the blind are a waste of my time
From the bottom of this cup this bulbous world is finally straight
as straight, as broken lines can sound
And maybe I didn't wanna feel the changing pace of
Life's unforgiving grip, admit my reel was slowing down
But I've seen this world through the cracks in the floor
I've been the Pimp, Lord and I've been the whore
I've found solice when I closed my eyes, it's fine
Open up and let a bottle run the night
Hey, his cup is full and it will break you, break you
Hey, he's going down and he will take you, take you down
There's feelings to hide
Nothing is ever all right
Chorus
"I believe in a world where brown-bagging it cures the hopeless thoughts of all who follow in his name.
Jack, Jim, Jose: All members of a secret sect sworn to the happiness of all men. No matter who it hurts...
No matter how many families it destroys, kids it kills and lives it ruins, keep in mind, that as with most things,
damage only comes in excess."
She lies down and cries herself to sleep
Every night a battle that never seems to cease
Her twisted heart cant heal without a mind
To crush the shadow cast when she crossed the line
Another day is locked away
Awake and lonely she finds herself
To face another day stuck on the shelf
She knocks it down and builds it up again
Replacing the lid securely and then
Another day is locked away
The Path of least resistance is effortless she promises
Soon one day she'll find herself off the shelf and she notices
Empty hearts do not remain once the pain is focused in to overcome yourself
Selfishness gently becomes yourself.
She lies now and makes herself believe
Her life is grand. She's gladdened without me
But who's the fool? She'll figure soon enough
Reflecting back her image is clear to see
Another day is locked away
Chorus
All you ever needed was to open up your eyes and see the world in front of you
All you never saw was my heart breaking and bleeding over you
All you'll never hear are words unspoken. Unspoken wisdom all for you. I was all for you.
I don't want to argue
I don't have it left in me
I don't have the strength to fight this conflict eating you and me
You're always right in everything
Always coming down on me
Always acting like your mentally superior to me
Try to reason
Try to agree
If you don't want and I don't want to try to see, try to be
Think in common
Think like me
In miscommunication, try to see, try to be
Verse
If it were anything other than
Wanting everything and having it all
All in his hands
If he were half of what he could be
He'd be nothing at all
He lives in a moment and he hangs from
The wall to prove he owns his youth
Take these bones and throw them out
My closet's seen enough for now
I need the space for hangups yet to come
And take my guilt and ring it out
I'll need it back but not right now
I'll need the space to get away
From the problems that I create
He know what he's doing and
He knows who he pains
And she knows the family that he's pushing
Away to prove that he's needed too
I look into me and feel this somthing you will never see
Trapped in skin clearly not meant for me
Can't control the only thing I've ever known
This person that's locked up inside of me can't escape
The fire that's blazing inside of me burns away
Im trying to change me
Im trying to grow
Im certain you'll love me
When I have evolved
When Im free, when I've reached some kind of reprieve
I've seen this before
You're on it again
It's all in your eyes
They've sold you out
Now that your world's standing still
I've got time to say
That the steps that you take to forget all your pain
Won't let you remember your life's not that easy to change
Your chemical dream has gone too far
Now you've become what they told you to be
And somehow forgot who you are
They want you to say
That you're better than me
But why pay for lies I've
Already told you for free
And now here we are
So very far from the start
Well that shit that you take might have cleared up your mind
But didn't leave much of your heart
CHORUS
If you walk away, don't turn around
I won't pick you up just to wacth you fall down again
Maybe this time, you'll realize
You don't play the game you can't make the rules
While you sit and think of which lies to choose
Again you push me as I'm falling
You say you've changed your ways but I fail to see
When it's the same old shit that you're doing to me
You hold me down as I am drowning
And just when I've begun
To crawl out from this hole
The walls start caving
I can't believe the things that you say
Your words are choking me
I can't believe your nerve as you're leaving me
Watching me as I bleed
And here it comes again now let the games begin
You give a smile, hello but it's all pretend
You always pinch me when I'm dreaming
You'll give a chance to all that try except for me
And as I close my eyes I can finally see
You'll never stop til I lay dying
And just when I've begun
To crawl out from this hole
The walls start crumbling
Walk away from the aftermath
The residue of raw emotion that you always leave behind
Run away. Leave today. Spare the people in your path
Spare yourself the shame
When the blood that's on your hands becomes the blood that's in them
You're to blame. That's your prerogative.
It doesn't mean he is out to hurt the ones he knows
They're just the box that's built around him not expanding as he grows
He doesn't see that he's the one who is shattered by these broken dreams
Trust is hard to gain but easy to give to someone else
Friends are everywhere but most of the time out for themselves
All these pieces of a mind that's made of clay
Soft and then it hardens
Making it easier to break
Shattering everywhere
Dissolved are the bonds with the people that I have been meeting
Long since the time when I could depend
Resolved is the guilt I've been feeling for needing
Gone out the door fast as it came in
