If ever there is an iconic comic strip, it is Peanuts. What began in the funny pages in 1950 has developed into an enduring classic. Whether you're persnickety like Lucy, a philosopher like Linus, a joyous Flying Ace like Snoopy, or a lovable underdog like Charlie Brown, there is something to touch your heart or make you laugh in Peanuts.

Unfortunately, nicotine addiction has nothing on the power of a thumb and a soft, blue blanket.

Just wait and see, Linus…At least your addiction is not bad for your health, except when you come upon a goofy Snoopy, who wants to play…

Ah, yes, back in the sixties when smoking was still socially acceptable. Our teachers were mostly smokers, and when they did the Health class unit on the dangers of smoking, someone would always ask them why they smoked. The standard response was, “Well, we’re all gonna die sometime anyway.” and then they’d tell you about their granddad who smoked two packs a day and lived to be ninety five, or whatever.
Nowadays, at least here in Europe, if they show an old film on TV and someone is smoking, they pixilate the ciggy out.

Linus didn’t think things through very well, did he?

He has both a blanket-hating gramma & a blanket-hating sister.

We are now in this story arc from the time when anti smoking PSA’s started to air during TV commercial breaks mostly in late night pre TV sign off hours back in 1967.

Is there a patch Linus can wear to get over his addiction?

Y’know, Linus continued attempts to try and hang onto his blanket like this actually has helped a number of people break bad habits themselves. I know Miss Othmar was able to give up chewing on her nails due to a similar challenge she made with Linus, and I’m sure she wasn’t the only other one who’s done something like this.
