Terror just beneath the surface
Rachel: The killer whale. He is a mammal with warm blood, found in every sea.
Rachel: I'd insisted on leaving South Harbor with them. I told myself that somehow I was responsible for Nolan's state of mind. That I had filled his head with romantic notions about a whale capable not only of profound grief, which I believed, but also of calculated and vindictive actions, which I found hard to be believe, despite all that had happened.
[Captain Nolan has just seen the orca kill a member of his crew after the orca knocked the house into the ocean. He then looks out to the water & sees the killer whale leaping out of the water, breaching]::Captain Nolan: You revengeful sonofabitch! You win!::[the orca keeps breaching, as if taunting Captain Nolan]::Captain Nolan: You want revenge? Well, you'll have it! I'll come out and fight you! You revengeful sonofabitch!::[Nolan's boat, the 'Bumpo', steams out of the little harbor the next morning with the fishermen watching as he goes to fight the orca]
Rachel: [while listening to Orca's sounds through a hydrophone] What is he saying?::Captain Nolan: You're me, he says... I'm you, he says... you're my... drunk driver... he says...
Umilak: It is known that they have great memory and even after many years they will always remember the human being who has tried to harm them.
Rachel: He followed you. He saw you on the deck of the boat.
Captain Nolan: Can you commit a sin against an animal?::Priest: Why, you can commit a sin against a blade of grass. Sins are really against oneself.
Rachel: He deliberately left you your boat because he wants to fight you alone on the sea.
Captain Nolan: He loved his family... more than I loved mine.
Captain Nolan: [as the harpooned orca screams in pain] He sounds almost human...
Orca (Aka: Orca: The Killer Whale) is a 1977 horror film directed by Michael Anderson and produced by Dino De Laurentiis, starring Richard Harris, Charlotte Rampling, and Will Sampson. The film was poorly received by critics and audiences alike due in part to its similarities to the film Jaws released two years prior. Upon release the film received only minor theatrical success, but in recent years the film has achieved a cult following among fans of the natural horror sub genre. Richard Harris enjoyed his experiences during filming, and took offence at any comparison between Orca and Jaws.
The movie revolves around the exploits of Captain Nolan (Harris), an Irish Canadian who catches marine animals in order to pay off the mortgage of his boat, and return to Ireland. Nolan's crew is looking for a great white shark for a local aquarium, but a scientist named Ken (Carradine) is being targeted by the shark. A killer whale comes and kills the shark, subsequently saving Ken. This switches Nolan's target to the killer whale and while he is on the journey with his crew, he tries to capture what he believes to be a male whale, but mistakenly harpoons a pregnant female. She tries to kill herself and is injured by the boat's propellers, but Nolan and his crew get the orca on board, where it subsequently miscarries. The crew hoses the dead fetus overboard as the male looks on screaming.
i'll be a killer whale when i grow up
i'll be a vulture
i'll be an animal
a carnivore
i'll be a monster
clenching my jagged jaws
over the capture
i'll be a killer whale when i grow up
i'll be a tidal wave when i grow up
crashing on harbours
i'll be a tempermental element
a raging water
i'll be a perfect storm swallowing over
i'll ba a killer whale when i grow up
i'll be a monster
i'll be a hurricane when i grow up
an ugly thunder
i'll be a forest fire about to flood
over an empire
i'll be an avalanche chewing its rupture
i'll be a killer whale when i grow up
i'll be a monster
