Plot
Planet Ibsen is about a tormented playwright who is forced to revisit his past while being trapped inside his archrival's most famous play. Planet Ibsen explores the rivalry between Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen and his Swedish counterpart August Strindberg. In Planet Ibsen, August Strindberg believes he is trapped inside Henrik Ibsen's A Dolls House and his only means of escape is to rewrite Ibsen's play, in the attempt to revise his life. Planet Ibsen, a surrealist film set in the Victorian era, speaks to a wide range of audiences by bringing family and marital relationships to the forefront. At its core, Planet Ibsen explores the choices we make in life and how our choices not only impact us but the one's we love. Peer Gynt (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈpeːr ˈɡʏnt]; English: /ˈpɪər ˈɡɪnt/) is a five-act play in verse by the Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen, loosely[citation needed] based on the fairy tale Per Gynt. It is the most widely performed Norwegian play. According to Klaus Van Den Berg, the "cinematic script blends poetry with social satire and realistic scenes with surreal ones".Peer Gynt has also been described as the story of a life based on procrastination and avoidance. A first edition of 1,250 copies was published on 14 November 1867 in Copenhagen. Despite having swiftly sold out, a re-print of 2,000 copies, which followed after only 14 days, didn't sell out until seven years later.
While Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson admired the play's "satire in Norwegian egotism, narrowness, and self-sufficiency" and described it as "magnificent", Hans Christian Andersen, Georg Brandes and Clemens Petersen all joined a widespread hostility. Enraged by Petersen's criticisms in particular, Ibsen defended his work by arguing that it "is poetry; and if it isn't, it will become such. The conception of poetry in our country, in Norway, shall shape itself according to this book." Despite this defense of his poetic achievement in Peer Gynt, the play was his last to employ verse; from The League of Youth (1869) onwards, Ibsen was to write drama only in prose.
Edvard Hagerup Grieg /ˈɛdʋɑɖ ˈhɑːgəɾʉːp gɾiːg/ (15 June 1843 – 4 September 1907) was a Norwegian composer and pianist. He is best known for his Piano Concerto in A minor, for his incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt (which includes Morning Mood and In the Hall of the Mountain King), and for his collection of piano miniatures Lyric Pieces.
Edvard Hagerup Grieg was born in Bergen, Norway on 15 June 1843. His parents were Alexander Grieg (1806–1875), a merchant and vice consul in Bergen, and Gesine Judithe Hagerup (1814–1875), a music teacher and daughter of Edvard Hagerup. The family name, originally spelled Greig, has Scottish origins. After the Battle of Culloden in 1746, Grieg's great-grandfather traveled widely, settling in Norway about 1770, and establishing business interests in Bergen.
Edvard Grieg was raised in a musical area. His mother was his first piano teacher and taught him to play at the age of 6. Grieg studied in several schools,[clarification needed] including Tank's School. He often brought in samples of his music to class.[citation needed]
Edvard Hagerup (1781–1853) was a Norwegian solicitor and politician. He was born in Kristiansand, the son of a bishop Eiler (Kongel) Hagerup b. 1718 and Edvardine Magdalene Margarethe Christie (b. 1755).
In 1801, he studied in Copenhagen with Wilhelm Frimann Koren Brodtkorp Christie (b. 1778). Both became "Stiftsamtmann", the King's representative in a county. During the formation of the Constitution of Norway signed at Constitutional Assembly on the 17th of May 1814, Christie was secretary to the delegates led by Christian Magnus Falsen and Hagerup was adviser to the Danish Prince Christian Fredrik who was present.
He was a member of the first Norwegian Parliament, in the year 1814. He was asked to accept the post of minister, but that would require him to live in Stockholm, and he abstained. At that time he worked as an assessor.
Hagerup was later appointed County Governor of Nordre Bergenhus amt (today named Sogn og Fjordane), serving from 1822 to 1831. Seated in Bergen, as Nordre Bergenhus was administrated from outside its territory, Hagerup was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from that city for the year 1824. In 1827 he was elected to the Norwegian Parliament for a third time.
Sir Thomas Beecham, 2nd Baronet, CH (29 April 1879 – 8 March 1961) was an English conductor and impresario best known for his association with the London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic orchestras. He was also closely associated with the Liverpool Philharmonic and Hallé orchestras. From the early 20th century until his death, Beecham was a major influence on the musical life of Britain and, according to the BBC, was Britain's first international conductor.
Born to a rich industrial family, Beecham began his career as a conductor in 1899. He used his access to the family fortune to finance opera from the 1910s until the start of the Second World War, staging seasons at Covent Garden, Drury Lane and His Majesty's Theatre with international stars, his own orchestra and a wide repertoire. Among the works he introduced to England were Richard Strauss's Elektra, Salome and Der Rosenkavalier and three operas by Frederick Delius.
Together with his younger colleague Malcolm Sargent, Beecham founded the London Philharmonic, and he conducted its first performance at the Queen's Hall in 1932. In the 1940s, he worked for three years in the United States, where he was music director of the Seattle Symphony and conducted at the Metropolitan Opera. After his return to Britain, he founded the Royal Philharmonic in 1946 and conducted it until his death in 1961.
Kurt Masur (born 18 July 1927) is a German conductor, particularly noted for his interpretation of German Romantic music.
Masur was born in Brieg, Lower Silesia, Germany (now Brzeg in Poland) and studied piano, composition and conducting in Leipzig, Saxony. Masur has been married three times. His second wife, with whom he had a daughter, died in 1972 in a car accident in which Masur was severely injured. He and his third wife, Tomoko Sakurai, have a son, Ken-David, a classical singer and conductor.
Masur conducted the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra for three years ending in 1958 and again from 1967 to 1972. He also worked with the Komische Oper of East Berlin. In 1970, he became Kapellmeister of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, serving in that post until 1996.
In 1991, Masur succeeded Zubin Mehta as music director of the New York Philharmonic (NYP). During his tenure, there were reports of tension between Masur and the NYP's Executive Director at the time, Deborah Borda, which eventually contributed to his contract not being renewed beyond 2002. In a television interview with Charlie Rose, Masur stated that regarding his leaving the NYP, "it was not my wish". The root of the problem was a fundamental discordance in status between the Americas and Germany regarding employed personalities of standing. In the former case, the hired beneficiary is expected "to report" to the benefactor, in the latter, he expects a free hand to execute his tasks as he feels best on account of his (to be) recognized experience. Masur stepped down as the NYP's Music Director in 2002, and was named its Music Director Emeritus, a new title created for him. The critical consensus is that Masur improved the playing of the orchestra compared to his more pliable and forbearing predecessor.
Hello, my name's mc chris
I am white and I rap
I know that you think my voice is kinda annoying
But when it is on a mic
It is nice, kinda like
The wind through windchimes at night
Now knight me The Boy King
I'll require a throne and hoes
Don't forget, lots of dro
Wasn't long ago I lived on milk and kidney beans
But, now I've been vilified
Thanks to these
Mic skills of mine
Nerds, they all get in a line with things to sign, mc
Groupies throw their thongs and bras
Midget girls, Amazons
Take 'em home, pajamas on
Let's play some hide-and-seek
But don't worry Dad and Mom,
Always have a condom on
I got better sense than that
Don't wanna catch v.d.
Did I discuss my dividends?
That depends,
Are we friends?
If we are then I can say I'm slingin' wicked bling
Enough that I can loan you some
Whatcha want, 100 bucks?
Pay your rent, buy you a tux
To me it's not a thing
In the end it's just revenge
Honor, that's my last defense
They should not have been so cruel
So callous in their ways
They were jealous of my depth
They would not give it a rest
Hope my story's end sends them to an early grave
Everything's just as I planned
I'm the bomb
I'm the man
Sold out shows, New York, Japan, I fill the stands with teens
Hope they don't mind a melted face
The smell of toast
Metallic taste
That's the smell of burnin' brains, you can blame mc
Fire and brimstone
Wrath of Hell
Take the cards you've been dealt
Take your wife to the hotel and F her in the tub
Key your car and steal your mail
Think I won't? I will prevail
My jams will be anthems causing tantrums in the clubs
Riot gear and dissidence
A loss of life and innocence
Parachute apocalypse
It's like it's World War III
Cause I failed a fitness test
Doesn't mean you have to jest
Maybe I should fill your chest with some gasoline
You might want to look away
While the flames eat your face
You'll be nothing but a bunch of bones, perhaps some teeth
Hope you learned your lesson dude
A little less ineptitude
Please be kind to others you'll be smothered in your sleep
Bitches need to understand you don't fuck with mc
