SO-50 Amateur Radio Satellite with Baofeng UV-5R Jan 2014
Tuning into low earth orbit satellite SO-50 on 436.795 FM January 9 2014. Using a sub $40 dollar radio and a Nagoya NA-775 (under 10 dollar) antenna. Sat pass was a max of 55 degrees overhead here in Southwestern Ontario @ 18:06 EST. Good to hear a female HAM voice on the bird :) I use ISS detector App on my Android phone to get notified and track the passes of the HAM satellites. Some of the stations heard (some mistakes possible here): W2SKI- Virginia AC0RA- EN41- Iowa KC9MLN- Illinois N4SQC- EM74- Florida W4ADI- Portable N2XMA- EN31- Iowa- handheld K4SQC- EM74- Georgia W0DHB- Colorado--------------- Broken Transmissions K4UPI- EM74- Georgia NM3B- FN01- Pennsylvania KD2EXR- FN12- New York- published: 11 Jan 2014
