After Dark is the second and last album by Los Angeles chicano rock band Cruzados, released in 1987. This album is lesser known to its 1985 preceder, as is the line-up for the band, which features guitarist Marshall Rohner in the place of Steven Hufsteter. The album featured fewer elements of blues, and featured more acoustic songs ("Small Town Love", "Time for Waiting") and even experimented with pop-rock ("I Want Your World to Turn") and folk rock ("Road of Truth"). The album's songwriting was also mainly done by rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Tito Larriva, with help from bassist Tony Marsico on a few songs.
A year after the album was released, the band split up.
All songs written by Tito Larriva, except where noted.
After Dark is a three-issue, dark science fiction limited series published by Radical Comics in a 56-page graphic novella format. The series concept and characters were created by film director/writer Antoine Fuqua (director of Training Day) and actor Wesley Snipes (star of the Blade series). The series is written by Peter Milligan (best known for Marvel Comics's X-Statix series) and illustrated by Jeff Nentrup.
On June 30, 2010, a "#0" issue was released as a prequel. The official start of the main series is August 2010.
The first book is due to be released in August (ISBN 1-935417-15-0) and the second in October (ISBN 1-935417-16-9).
The series is set in a post-apocalyptic near-future in which the Earth exists in a state of near-perpetual darkness. Civilization has largely become confined to domed cities in which the populace exists in a state of drug-addled stupor in order to while away time between birth and death.
The rulers of Solar City, the most populated of humanity's remaining bastions, enlist a Bedouin drifter, named simply Omar, to lead a team into the wilds outside of the city in search of the savior they believe may exist somewhere in the sparsely populated wilds.
"After Dark" (アフターダーク, Afutā Dāku) is a song by Japanese Indie rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation. It was released as the second single of their fifth studio album, World World World, on November 7, 2007, nearly a whole year after the release of the album's lead single. The single debuted in the top ten on the Oricon charts and was selected to be used as the seventh opening theme of the anime series Bleach.
The music video for "After Dark" was directed by Tadashi Tsukagoshi. The narrative video tells the surrealistic story of an ordinary young salaryman who wakes up one day to find wings sprouting out his back. At first, the man tries to hide them and continue going about his everyday life. However, as time goes on, the wings gradually grow larger and become increasingly harder to hide from his friends and co-workers. All the while, the scenes are intercut with a visual of AKG, expressing similar wings, playing the song in a giant birdcage.
The War is a seven-part American documentary television mini-series about World War II from the perspective of the United States. The program was produced by American filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, written by Geoffrey Ward, and narrated primarily by Keith David. It premiered on September 23, 2007. The world premiere of the series took place at the Palace Theater in Luverne, Minnesota, one of the towns featured in the documentary.
The film focuses on World War II in a "bottom up" fashion through the lenses of four "quintessentially American towns":
The film recounts the experiences of a number of individuals from these communities as they move through the war in the Pacific, African and European theaters, and focuses on the effect of the war on them, their families and their communities.
A number of notable actors including Adam Arkin, Tom Hanks, Keith David, Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Lucas, and Eli Wallach are heard as voice actors reading contemporary newspaper articles, telegrams, letters from the front, etc. Notable persons including Daniel Inouye, Sidney Phillips, and Paul Fussell were interviewed.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hearns, billed as "The War" (originally billed as "The Fight"), was a world middleweight championship boxing match between Undisputed Champion Marvin Hagler and challenger Thomas Hearns, who was himself the world's junior middleweight champion. The fight is considered by many to be among the finest boxing matches in history, due to its constant action, drama, and back-and-forth exchanges. The bout took place on April 15, 1985.
"The War" was the nickname given to this bout by promoter Bob Arum.
By 1985, "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler had been the undisputed champion of the middleweight division since September 27, 1980, after having been widely regarded as the No. 1 challenger for much of the late 1970s. His first two shots at the world middleweight title resulted in controversy: the first was an unpopular draw against then-champion Vito Antuofermo in 1979 (allowing Antuofermo to retain the title), and the second was a three-round technical knockout (TKO) of Alan Minter, in London, which led to a riot by Minter's fans. The hard road to the middleweight championship, however, may have helped motivate Hagler to remain dominant during his reign. Hagler was renowned for his conditioning and durability, suffering only one official knockdown in his career, against Juan Domingo Roldan, an incident Hagler always insisted should have been ruled a slip. By the time he fought Thomas Hearns, he had defended the title ten times, winning all but one by knockout; the sole Hagler defense that went the distance was a 15-round decision victory over Roberto Durán. Hagler was then approaching the middleweight record of 14 title defenses, held by Carlos Monzón.
The 1948 Palestine war, known in Hebrew as The War of Independence (Hebrew: מלחמת העצמאות, Milkhemet Ha'Atzma'ut) or the War of Liberation (Hebrew: מלחמת השחרור, Milkhemet HaShikhrur) and in Arabic as The Nakba or Catastrophe (Arabic: النكبة, al-Nakba), refers to the war that occurred in the former Mandatory Palestine during the period between the United Nations vote on the partition plan on November 30, 1947, and the official end of the first Arab-Israeli war on July 20, 1949.
Historians divide the war into two phases:

And so our sun may set, we've been in winter for so long
Don't give up on me yet, I will give you what you deserve
Though our arguments are many, and your eyes are always sore
I promise you we'll get there, this war is almost won
This war is almost won
And lose if you have to
Oh lose if you have to
Cause I've been putting you through this hell for so long
As long this stands your choice my dear, don't lose or we have won
Don't let your heart grow cold, when you go to sleep upset
Grow with me till we're old, we will find a way to heal
The bruises that will appear, from choices long ago
Hold on to our love my dear, don't think it's dead and done
When this war is almost won
And lose if you have to
Oh lose if you have to
Cause I've been putting you this hell for so long
As long this stands your choice my dear, don't lose or we have won
I'm running round in circles drinking whiskey and your wine
To drown the sound of endless questions in your mind
Forget the way I treated you and trust that I will love you better
Give me all your patience, give me time x 3
