BREAKING NEWS: Actress Lauren Bacall dead at age 89 - RIP
Hollywood icon Lauren Bacall has died. She was 89 years old.
A family member revealed to the gossip site TMZ that the actress passed away Tuesday morning from a massive stroke at her home.
Bacall is best known for her roles in films like Key Largo, and The Mirror Has to Faces.
Bacall\'s passing was first reported on Twitter by MSNBC presenter Thomas Roberts, who wrote that he got the news from a source connected to the actress\' friends and family.

In 1945, Bacall wed her one-time co-star Humphry Bogart, and the two remained married until the actor\'s passing in 1957.

Four years later, Bacall tied the knot with Jason Robards, but their marriage fell apart in 1969. Bacall is survived by her three children.
Lauren Bacall was born Betty Joan Perske on September 16, 1924, in New York City to Natalie Weinstein-Bacal, a Romanian Jewish immigrant, and William Perske, who was born in New Jersey.

Over the course of her successful acting career that spanned six decades, Bacall started in more than 70 films, beginning in 1944 when Howard Hawks cast her in the role of Marie \'Slim \'Browning in To Have and Have Not opposite Humphrey Bogart.

The sultry screen siren, whose striking face earned her the nickname The Look, also graced with her presence such films as The big Sleep, Designing Women, How to Marry a Millionaire and Blood Alley.

Later in life, Bacall conquered Broadway, winning a pair of Tony awards.

In 1996, Bacall\'s turn as Hannah in The Mirror Has Two Faces earned her an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress.

Bacall received a Lifetime Achievement Academy Award in 2009 when she was 85 years old.

Most recently, the 89-year-old did a lot of voice-over work, including in the cartoon TV show Family Guy and the animated feature Ernest and Celestine.

Pope Francis holds mass and attends a youth event in South Korea where he gives his first address in English. Full Story: Pope Francis held mass Friday for some 50,000 Catholics at a stadium in South Korea. The festive crowd waved handkerchiefs and wore cardboard hats with the words "Viva il Papa Francesco" Later in the day Francis spoke to thousands of young people during a Catholic Asian Youth Day event at a venue that apparently was quite warm. [Pope Francis]: "I wanna thank you for your warm welcome. Very warm, eh?" In his first major speech in English, the pontiff urged the young people to open their hearts to Christ. [Pope Francis]: "Today, Christ is knocking at the door of your heart, and of my heart. He calls you and me to rise and to be wide awake and alert to see the things in life that really matter." This is the first papal visit to Asia since Pope John Paul II went to India in 1999. It's also the first time a pope has been allowed fly over Chinese airspace. Despite that gesture of goodwill from China, experts say his visit probably won't do much to help thaw chilly relations between Beijing and the Vatican. In fact, officials say Chinese authorities barred a group of Chinese Catholics from attending the events in South Korea. But for the tens of thousands of Catholics who participated, the pope's presence was a once in a lifetime event. Francis will spend five days in South Korea. Early next year he's expected to visit Sri Lanka and Philippines.
