Chorao

Chorão, also known as Chodna, is an island along the Mandovi River near Ilhas, Goa, India. It is the largest among other 17 islands of Goa. It is located 5 km away from the state capital, the city of Panjim and 10 km away from the city of Mapusa. Even today, one can visit this area and see the distinct churches, graveyards and buildings all with a Portuguese air.

Chorão is accessible by the ferries from Ribandar or Divar Island, is mainly known for its beautiful bird sanctuary. If you arrive here with your own transport it's worth a ride through the countryside to little Chorão village, with its handful of whitewashed village churches and picturesque Portuguese homes.

Etymology

The Islanders call it Chodan or Chodna. The inhabitants of the island are called Chodankar, Chodanekar or Todankar.

It was the Portuguese who called it Chorão. The Portuguese noblemen found the island a pleasurable place to live and hence the name Ilha dos Fidalgos (Island of Noblemen).

The island was historically called Chudamani, meaning "stunning precious stone" in Sanskrit.

Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown is the central protagonist of the long-running comic strip Peanuts, syndicated in daily and Sunday newspapers in numerous countries all over the world. Depicted as a "lovable loser," Charlie Brown is one of the great American archetypes and a popular and widely recognized cartoon character. Charlie Brown is the leader of the Peanuts gang.

Charlie Brown is characterized as a person who frequently suffers, and as a result, is usually nervous and lacks self-confidence. He shows both pessimistic and optimistic attitudes: on some days, he is reluctant to go out because his day might just be spoiled, but on others, he hopes for the best and tries as much as he can to accomplish things.

The character's creator, Charles M. Schulz, has said of the character that "[He] must be the one who suffers, because he is a caricature of the average person. Most of us are much more acquainted with losing than winning." Despite this, Charlie Brown does not always suffer, as he has experienced some happy moments and victories through the years, and he has sometimes uncharacteristically shown self-assertiveness despite his frequent nervousness.

Charlie Brown Jr.

Charlie Brown Jr. was a Brazilian rock band, from the city of Santos, São Paulo, whose main influences were Sublime, Bad Brains, 311, Suicidal Tendencies, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

History

When Chorão came to Santos at seventeen (after a difficult and somewhat traumatic childhood) he already had a strong interest in skateboarding and rock music. From time to time he would stand in for a singer of a local rock band when the guy had to go to the bathroom during a show. A musician in another saw Chorão performing during these bathroom breaks and invited him to join his band. When the band's bass player quit, Chorão found Champignon, who was then twelve. Later on, Chorão decided to start his own band, and invited Champignon and Pelado (Chorão's friend from another local band), and then Marcão and Thiago (a 5th member). The band would continue to have shows in the city without an official name until Chorão crashed his car into a coconut shack that was named "Charlie Brown". And the "Jr", because they are children of new rock generations with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Raimundos .
