NEW Starbucks Coffee Mugs: Hunminjeongeum

Visit: http://www.qiranger.com/2013/08/15/new-starbucks-coffee-mugs-hunminjeongeum Recently I manged to finally pick the matching set of new Korean Starbucks coffee mugs featuring Hunminjeongeum, or ancient Hangul script. Jo and I have been eying them for a long time and while out in Seoul this week at Starbucks HQ, they were kind enough to give them to me. I love the size of the mugs and they even come with a mini history lesson. According to the pamphlet attached with each mug "Hunminjeongeum, which is the first version of Hangeul (Korean script), means 'right sounds and letters that teach the public.' Hunminjeongeum, the term indicating Hangeul for the first time, and was a teaching material to teach Hangeul. Hunminjeongeum is the commentary of Korea's own letters created by the order of King Sejong in 1443 and proclaimed in 1446. Hunminjeongeum is the name of the letters as well as a guide." Mug translation: The Korean language is different from Chinese; thus, the Korean language does not harmonize with Chinese characters. For this reason, unenlightened people could not express their thoughts and intention in writing as they wanted to. The model was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show showing-off all its assets. The model embodies remarkable enhancements to the exterior bodywork and suspension. To be more precise, the upgrades are the result of collaborative work between Hyundai’s R&D; facility in Namyang, Koreaand and the newly formed Hyundai Motorsport GmbH in Alzenau,Germany, headed up by veteran WRC man Michel Nandan. In fact, the Hyundai i20 WRC boasts striking looks due to the redesigned livery which blends a dynamic treatment of brand’s corporate blue together with an innovative use of characters from the native Korean script, Hunminjeongeum. The livery perfectly complements the excitement and dynamism of WRC with the Korean heritage of the Hyundai brand. The latest version of the i20 WRC has a design focused on aerodynamics and in addition – improved cooling systems. A new rear wing and front spoiler give the i20 WRC a new external appearance. Under the bodywork, some enhancements are noticeable on the suspension kinematics and chassis stiffness.

President Park highlights importance of preserving cultural assets

And marking the month of June designated to remember the patriots and fallen heroes who made sacrifices for the nation, President Park visited a cultural exhibit to highlight the importance of preserving cultural heritage in protecting one's country. Also marking a monthly Culture Day on Wednesday, the president looked around a number of Korea's national treasures, including the UNESCO-listed Hunminjeongeum Haerye , which were protected during Japan's colonial period by a man known as Kansong . President Park praised Kansong for his efforts to protect the Koreans people's soul through cultural heritage preservation, adding we too have a duty to pass down our cultural assets to the future generation.
