Jatt Sikh is a sub-group of the Sikh ethnoreligious group from the Indian subcontinent. They form at least half of the Sikh population in Punjab, with some sources estimating them to be in the majority, at about 60% to 66% of the Sikh population.

Jatt-Sikhs are mostly descended from Jat-Hindus and some from Jat-Muslims.^{[citation needed]}

Jatts started to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak in small numbers and this grew after the formation of the Khalsa. They converted en masse to Sikhism from the time of Banda Singh Bahadur, and formed the vanguard of Sikh resistance against the Mughal Empire from the 18th century onwards. Note that controversial research by W H Mcleod based on the Martial Race theories states that Jatts started joining Sikhism in large numbers during the period of the 6th Guru Hargorbind.

At least 7 of the 12 Sikh Misls (Sikh confederacies) were led by Jatt-Sikhs.

In 1928, Major A.E. Barstow, who commanded the Sikh Regiment, wrote that Jat Sikhs (as well as Sikhs in general) appeared to possess more of a martial streak than their non-Sikh brethren. The reason for this was summed up by Major A.E. Barstow as being due to the influence of Sikhism:

The Jat people^{[pronunciation?]} are a community of traditionally non-elite tillers and herders in Northern India and Pakistan. Originally pastoralists in the lower Indus river-valley of Sindh, Jats migrated north into the Punjab region in late medieval times, and subsequently into the Delhi Territory, northeastern Rajputana, and the western Gangetic Plain in the 17th and 18th centuries. Of Muslim, Sikh, and Hindu faiths, they are now found mostly in the Pakistani provinces of Sindh and Punjab and the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Traditionally involved in peasantry, the Jats took up arms against the Mughal Empire during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The community played an important role in the development of the martial Khalsa panthan of Sikhism. The Hindu Jat kingdom reached its zenith under Suraj Mal of Bharatpur (1707–1763). By the 20th century, the landowning Jats became an influential group in several parts of North India, including Punjab,Western Uttar Pradesh,, Rajasthan,Haryana and Delhi. Over the years, several Jats abandoned agriculture in favour of urban jobs, and used their dominant economic and political status to claim higher social status.

British Asian is a term used to describe British citizens who descended from mainly South Asia, also known as South Asians in the United Kingdom. In British English, the term 'Asian' usually excludes East Asians (see East Asians in the United Kingdom).

Prior to the formation of the United Kingdom, immigration of South Asian people to England began with the arrival of the East India Company to the Indian subcontinent. This continued during the British Raj and increased in volume after the independence of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka from British rule, chiefly for education and economic pursuits. A major influx of South Asian immigrants, mostly of Indian and Pakistani origin, also took place following the expulsion of Indian communities (then holders of British passports) from Uganda and other East African nations (see African migration to the United Kingdom).

In British English, the word "Asian" is often used to refer to those of South Asian origin, particularly Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Clarifying the Definition of Asian. 2005. 1 October 2006. The term generally excludes people of East Asian (such as Chinese, Korean or Japanese) or Southeast Asian origin; they are more likely to be defined by their country of origin, or may instead be grouped under the umbrella term "oriental". This is reflected in the "ethnic group" section of UK census forms and other government paperwork, which treat "Asian" and "Chinese" as separate. This usage contrasts with olga American English, Canadian English, New Zealand English and Australian English, in which "Asian" refers mainly to people with East Asian ancestry.

Gurpreet Ghuggi (Punjabi: ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਘੁੱਗੀ) is an Indian comedian born in the village of Khokhar Fojian in District Gurdaspur, Punjab, India. Currently, he resides in Jalandhar, Punjab.

Ghuggi's parents are originally from Kulla Mandiyala, Sialkot, Province of Punjab in British India, now Pakistan. but his family moved to Khokkhar Faujian,Tehsil Nushera Majha Singh, District Gurdaspur, Punjab, India in 1947 after the partition.

He is a very natural comedian who always seems to find a message in his comedy. He started his journey as a Punjabi actor in Jalandhar Doordarshan's tele-films and shows. He appeared in a serious lead role in serial Parchhaven produced by Jalandhar Doordarshan. He also performed in numerous acts and gags with other Punjabi comedians such as Chacha Raunki Ram (Balwinder Bicky), whom he considers his guru. His journey took a new turn when he participated in reality shows such as The Great Indian Laughter Challenge on Star One where he got noticed all over India and abroad. Later on he performed in another show Hans Baliye which aired on Sony Entertainment television. He has acted as a comedian in many Hindi and Punjabi movies like Namastey London, Race, Asa Nu Maan Watna Da, Yaara Naal Bahaara, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Singh Is Kinng, Mera Pind, Jijja Ji, Jag Jeondeyan De Mele, Tera Mera Ki Rishta, Speedy Singhs and Munde U.K. De. He also apperead in the live shows Shounki Mela 2003 (along with Kamal Heer, Manmohan Waris and Sangtar) and Vaisakhi Mela 2009 (along with Jazzy B and Sukhshinder Shinda) and Vaisakhi Mela 2010 (along with Nachatter Gill, Master Saleem and others).

Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, born on 4th, May 1948, in Doraha, Dt. Ludhiana in Punjab (India) is a well-known Punjabi comedian. He has a Ph.D. in Agriculture Science from Punjab University. He is also faculty at Punjab Agricultural University.

While studying in Punjab Agricultural University, he started taking part in university circular activities with main focus on satirical comedy through which he used to highlight social, economic and political issues in the state and country. Jaswinder Bhalla was encouraged to venture into entertainment as a career by Jagdev Singh Jassowal. In fact, Jagdev Singh Jassowal personally held guarantee for any loss which may arise from Jaswinder Bhalla and Mukul Sharma's first album, 'Chankata 1998.' However, this album became an instant hit. After that, there was no looking back for him. Till date, he has released 27 audio and video albums of 'Chankata', which have been appreciated well by all. Apart from 'Chankata', he has performed in 15 video films and 12 Punjabi feature films.
