USS Missouri, a 45,000 ton Iowa class battleship built by the New York Navy Yard, was commissioned on 11 June 1944. She spent the remainder of that year preparing for combat, transiting to the Pacific in November. Arriving in the war zone in January 1945, Missouri supported the Iwo Jima invasion, the Ryukyus campaign and raids on Japan's home islands during the following months. In May, she became Third Fleet flagship and was the site of the 2 September 1945 Japanese surrender ceremony that ended World War II.
Following the end of hostilities, Missouri returned to the United States, participating in a great naval review at New York in October 1945. In March 1946, she went to the Mediterranean on a diplomatic mission. Through the rest of the 1940s and into 1950, the battleship operated extensively in the Atlantic area. She was the centerpiece of a major grounding incident off Hampton Roads, Virginia, in January 1950 but was quickly repaired and returned to service.
Missouri was the only U.S. battleship on active duty in June 1950, when the Korean War began, and made two combat deployments to the Western Pacific. Following that action, and several training cruises to Europe, she decommissioned in February 1955. For the next three decades, she was in reserve at Bremerton, Washington, and became an important tourist attraction.
All four Iowa class battleships were reactivated in the 1980s, with Missouri recommissioning in May 1986. Her next six years were busy ones, including, among other activities, a cruise around the World and a combat role in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. She decommissioned for the last time in March 1992. Stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in 1995, Missouri was transferred to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in June 1998 to become a memorial.

The USS Missouri (the "Mighty Mo") proudly rides at anchor in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, next to the USS Arizona Memorial, the two marking the beginning and the end of World War II. The USS Missouri Memorial opened January 29, 1999 and is one of the most popular attractions in Hawaii. One cannot fail to be deeply moved by the historic significance of this great ship. She was the last battleship ever built and the biggest. She is almost 900 feet long and over 100 feet in beam and more than 200 feet in height. Each link in the 1,200-foot long chains of her two anchors weighs over 100 pounds. 17 inches of solid steel protect her citadel from which the ship's operations were directed during battle. But even greater than her physical size is the size of her place in American history.
On the deck of the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, General Douglas MacArthur accepted Japan's surrender, thereby ending World War II. And after World War II, the USS Missouri fought again in Korea and in Operation Desert Storm. The USS Missouri was launched on January 29, 1944, commissioned on June 11 of the same year, and reported for duty to the Third Fleet in Pearl Harbor on Christmas Eve 1944. She became the flagship for Admiral William "Bull" Halsey and was an important part of the war in the Pacific, assisting in the bombing raids over Tokyo and providing firepower in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She was first decommissioned in 1955 after action in Korea.
In 1986 she was modernized, recommissioned, and sent on a tour around the world. Then in 1991, she was sent to the Persian Gulf to protect American-flagged oil tankers near the Straits of Hormuz, and she launched 28 Tomahawk missiles against Iraqi positions in Baghdad and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. Her final operational mission was to sail into Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1991, the 50th anniversary of the United States' entry into World War II, when she played an important role in the commemoration of that event. In 1992, the USS Missouri was decommissioned for the second time, and in 1995 she was removed from the Navy's ship registry, enabling her to be donated by the Navy for preservation as a memorial museum. After intense competition, the USS Missouri Memorial Association was selected by the Navy to care for the "Mighty Mo" at Pearl Harbor, and in 1998 title to the ship was transferred to the Association, and the "Mighty Mo" was brought to Pearl Harbor. A massive effort by volunteers was undertaken to refurbish the ship,clean and repaint her exterior, refinish deck planks, polish her brass, and clean a number of her interior spaces in time for her opening.
On the Surrender Deck of the USS Missouri, the visitor experiences history come to life, hearing the unmistakable voice of Gen. MacArthur and seeing the precise spot where the surrender occurred and the world's bloodiest war came to an end. The visitor can see the wardroom, officers quarters, the spot on the fantail where a Japanese attack plane penetrated the USS Missouri's anti-aircraft defenses and crashed into the deck, setting the ship on fire. And the visitor can stand in awe of the USS Missouri's 16-inch guns. Each of those guns (three to a turret) is 65 feet long, weighs 116 tons, and can accurately fire a 2,700 pound shell 23 miles in 50 seconds.

El USS Missouri (BB-63). Conocido como el Mighty Mo, el acorazado Missouri es uno de los 4 acorazados estadounidenses de la clase Iowa. Bautizado y botado con el nombre del estado de Missouri por la hija del quien sería el futuro presidente Harry Thruman y este a su vez era de dicho estado. Alcanzo notoriedad al final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial cuando en su cubierta el 2 de septiembre de 1945 Japon firmo la rendición incondicional frente a los altos mando aliados. Casí 5 decadas despues el Mighty Mo sería reactivado para la Guerra del Golfo. Su participación fue practicamente como plataforma lanzadera flotante de misiles Tomahakw aunque posteriormente lanzo disparos con sus 9 cañones de 406mm. Actualmente es un buque museo que reposa en el puerto de Pearl Harbour frente a la tumba del acorazado USS Arizona, puesto que con el hundimiento del Arizona por aviones japoneses en el 07 de diciembre de 1941 marco el ingreso de USA a la Segunda Guerra Mundial y con el Missouri Estados Unidos obtuvo su revancha al ponerse fin a la Segunda Guerra Mundial en su cubierta el 02 de septiembre de 1945.

Missouri (
i/mɨˈzʊəri/) (nickname The Show Me State) is a U.S. state located in the Midwestern United States, bordered by Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. Missouri is the 21st most extensive and the 18th most populous of the 50 United States. Missouri comprises 114 counties and the independent city of St. Louis. The four largest urban areas are St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and Columbia. Missouri's capital is Jefferson City. The land that is now Missouri was acquired from France as part of the Louisiana Purchase and became known as the Missouri Territory. Part of the Territory was admitted into the union as the 24th state on August 10, 1821.
Missouri generally mirrors the demographic, economic and political makeup of America and has long been considered a political bellwether state. With the exceptions of the Presidential elections of 1956 and 2008, Missouri's results have accurately predicted the next President of the United States in every election since 1904. It has both Midwestern and Southern cultural influences, reflecting its history as a border state. It is also a transition between the Eastern and Western United States, as St. Louis is often called the "western-most Eastern city" and Kansas City the "eastern-most Western city". Missouri's geography is highly varied. The northern part of the state lies in dissected till plains while the southern part lies in the Ozark Mountains (a dissected plateau), with the Missouri River dividing the two. The state lies at the intersection of the three greatest rivers of North America, with the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers near St. Louis, and the confluence of the Ohio River with the Mississippi north of the Bootheel. The starting points of the Pony Express Trail and Oregon Trail were both in Missouri. The mean center of United States population as of the 2010 Census is at the town of Plato in Texas County, Missouri.

This is a re-build of my U.S.S. Missouri build/tutorial. The hull has been completely redesigned for better accuracy and the aft part of the ship has undergone an extreme makeover also. After correcting these imperfections I removed all post cold war weapons (anti aircraft guns) and modernized it by adding Updated radars, harpoon missile stations, Phalanx CIWZ stations and the main flight deck on aft of ship. USS Missouri, a 45,000 ton Iowa class battleship built by the New York Navy Yard, was commissioned on 11 June 1944. She spent the remainder of that year preparing for combat, transiting to the Pacific in November. Arriving in the war zone in January 1945, Missouri supported the Iwo Jima invasion, the Ryukyus campaign and raids on Japan's home islands during the following months. In May, she became Third Fleet flagship and was the site of the 2 September 1945 Japanese surrender ceremony that ended World War II. This is a re-build of my U.S.S. Missouri build/tutorial. The hull has been completely redesigned for better accuracy and the aft part of the ship has undergone an extreme makeover also. After correcting these imperfections I removed all post cold war weapons (anti aircraft guns) and modernized it by adding Updated radars, harpoon missile stations, Phalanx CIWZ stations and the main flight deck on aft of ship. Her next six years were busy ones, including, among other activities, a cruise around the World and a combat role in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. She decommissioned for the last time in March 1992. Stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in 1995, Missouri was transferred to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in June 1998 to become a memorial.

And after World War II, the USS Missouri fought again in Korea and in Operation Desert Storm. The USS Missouri was launched on January 29, 1944, commissioned on June 11 of the same year, and reported for duty to the Third Fleet in Pearl Harbor on Christmas Eve 1944. She became the flagship for Admiral William "Bull" Halsey and was an important part of the war in the Pacific, assisting in the bombing raids over Tokyo and providing firepower in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She was first decommissioned in 1955 after action in Korea.
In 1986 she was modernized, recommissioned, and sent on a tour around the world. Then in 1991, she was sent to the Persian Gulf to protect American-flagged oil tankers near the Straits of Hormuz, and she launched 28 Tomahawk missiles against Iraqi positions in Baghdad and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. Her final operational mission was to sail into Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1991, the 50th anniversary of the United States' entry into World War II, when she played an important role in the commemoration of that event. In 1992, the USS Missouri was decommissioned for the second time, and in 1995 she was removed from the Navy's ship registry, enabling her to be donated by the Navy for preservation as a memorial museum. After intense competition, the USS Missouri Memorial Association was selected by the Navy to care for the "Mighty Mo" at Pearl Harbor, and in 1998 title to the ship was transferred to the Association, and the "Mighty Mo" was brought to Pearl Harbor. A massive effort by volunteers was undertaken to refurbish the ship,clean and repaint her exterior, refinish deck planks, polish her brass, and clean a number of her interior spaces in time for her opening.
On the Surrender Deck of the USS Missouri, the visitor experiences history come to life, hearing the unmistakable voice of Gen. MacArthur and seeing the precise spot where the surrender occurred and the world's bloodiest war came to an end. The visitor can see the wardroom, officers quarters, the spot on the fantail where a Japanese attack plane penetrated the USS Missouri's anti-aircraft defenses and crashed into the deck, setting the ship on fire. And the visitor can stand in awe of the USS Missouri's 16-inch guns. Each of those guns (three to a turret) is 65 feet long, weighs 116 tons, and can accurately fire a 2,700 pound shell 23 miles in 50 seconds.

On the Surrender Deck of the USS Missouri, the visitor experiences history come to life, hearing the unmistakable voice of Gen. MacArthur and seeing the precise spot where the surrender occurred and the world's bloodiest war came to an end. The visitor can see the wardroom, officers quarters, the spot on the fantail where a Japanese attack plane penetrated the USS Missouri's anti-aircraft defenses and crashed into the deck, setting the ship on fire. And the visitor can stand in awe of the USS Missouri's 16-inch guns. Each of those guns (three to a turret) is 65 feet long, weighs 116 tons, and can accurately fire a 2,700 pound shell 23 miles in 50 seconds.

Su participación fue practicamente como plataforma lanzadera flotante de misiles Tomahakw aunque posteriormente lanzo disparos con sus 9 cañones de 406mm. Actualmente es un buque museo que reposa en el puerto de Pearl Harbour frente a la tumba del acorazado USS Arizona, puesto que con el hundimiento del Arizona por aviones japoneses en el 07 de diciembre de 1941 marco el ingreso de USA a la Segunda Guerra Mundial y con el Missouri Estados Unidos obtuvo su revancha al ponerse fin a la Segunda Guerra Mundial en su cubierta el 02 de septiembre de 1945.

This is a re-build of my U.S.S. Missouri build/tutorial. The hull has been completely redesigned for better accuracy and the aft part of the ship has undergone an extreme makeover also. After correcting these imperfections I removed all post cold war weapons (anti aircraft guns) and modernized it by adding Updated radars, harpoon missile stations, Phalanx CIWZ stations and the main flight deck on aft of ship. I hope everyone likes this new reboot of this great older design! Thanks for watching!

USS Missouri (BB-63) ("Mighty Mo" or "Big Mo") is a United States Navy Iowa-class battleship and was the third ship of the U.S. Navy to be named in honor of the US state of Missouri. Missouri was the last battleship commissioned by the United States and was the site of the surrender of the Empire of Japan which ended World War II.
Missouri was ordered in 1940 and commissioned in June 1944. In the Pacific Theater of World War II she fought in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa and shelled the Japanese home islands, and she fought in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. She was decommissioned in 1955 into the United States Navy reserve fleets (the "Mothball Fleet"), but reactivated and modernized in 1984 as part of the 600-ship Navy plan, and provided fire support during Operation Desert Storm in January/February 1991.
Missouri received a total of 11 battle stars for service in World War II, Korea, and the Persian Gulf, and was finally decommissioned on 31 March 1992, but remained on the Naval Vessel Register until her name was struck in January 1995. In 1998, she was donated to the USS Missouri Memorial Association and became a museum ship at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
These guns were 66.6 feet (20 m) long—50 times their 16-inch (406 mm) bore, or 50 calibers, from breechface to muzzle. Each gun weighed about 239,000 pounds (108,000 kg) without the breech, or 267,900 pounds (121,517 kg) with the breech.[1] They fired projectiles weighing from 1,900 to 2,700 pounds (850 to 1,200 kg) at a maximum speed of 2,690 feet per second (820 m/s) with a range of up to 24 miles (39 km). At maximum range the projectile spent almost 1½ minutes in flight.[1] Each turret required a crew of 79 men to operate.[1] The turrets themselves cost US$1.4 million each
