Marcus Garvey is an interesting and divisive figure in civil rights history. Influenced by the writings of Booker T Washington, he pushed back against the philosophy of the NAACP and W.E.B. Du Bois. On the one hand, he was a passionate and fierce leader who unified the community and worked to fight injustice. On the other hand, he was a separatist to the core, a philosophy that led to him reaching out to the Ku Klux Klan. And that's never the best sentence to hear. ABOUT HON. MARCUS MOSIAH GARVET
Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Jr., ONH (August 17, 1887 – June 10, 1940), was a Jamaican political leader, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator who was a proponent of the Pan-Africanism movement, to which end he founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL). He also founded the Black Star Line, a shipping and passenger line which promoted the return of the African diaspora to their ancestral lands.
Prior to the 20th century, leaders such as Prince Hall, Martin Delany, Edward Wilmot Blyden, and Henry Highland Garnet advocated the involvement of the African diaspora in African affairs. Garvey was unique in advancing a Pan-African philosophy to inspire a global mass movement and economic empowerment focusing on Africa known as Garveyism. Promoted by the UNIA as a movement of African Redemption, Garveyism would eventually inspire others, ranging from the Nation of Islam to the Rastafari movement (some sects of which proclaim Garvey as a prophet).
Garveyism intended persons of African ancestry in the diaspora to "redeem" the nations of Africa and for the European colonial powers to leave the continent. His essential ideas about Africa were stated in an editorial in the Negro World entitled "African Fundamentalism", where he wrote: "Our union must know no clime, boundary, or nationality… to let us hold together under all climes and in every country…"

Marcus Garvey was born in Jamaica and experienced the impacts of colonization at the hands of the British. As a result, he developed a passion for improving race relations and launched a Black Nationalism movement that would seek to elevate black people throughout the world.
In 1914, Garvey created the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). This revolutionary social movement came at a time when black Americans were being lynched and ridiculed in the media. After immigrating to the United States in 1916, Garvey’s mission offered hope to black Americans with the promise of emigrating black people back to Africa. Burning Spear - Marcus Garvey
Lyrics:
Marcus Garvey's words come to pass,-
Marcus Garvey's words come to pass,
Can't get no food to eat,
Can't get no money to spend, Wo-oo-oo
Can't get no food to eat,
Can't get no money to spend, Woo -oo- oo
Come, little one and let me do what I can do for you
And you and you alone
Come, little one, wo-oo-oo
Let me do what I can do for you and you alone, woo-oo-oo
He who knows the right thing
And do it not
Shall be spanked with many stripes,
Weeping and wailing and moaning,
You've got yourself to blame, I tell you.
Do right do right do right do right do right,
Tell you to do right, Woo -oo- oo
Beg you to do right, Woo -oo- oo
Where is Bagawire, he's nowhere to be found
He can't be found

Lyrics :
When comes the change
Are you going to make it?
Here comes the wave
Are you going to take it
Will you take a chance
DonDon't just stare in a glance
Come take a stance
No leave without a dance
Me said a whole lotta faith
M an ha ffi couple with maximal implication
Follow your call and forward all your intention
Meditate all 'cuz not a thing can be undone
Who be like a flower that a grow up ina dung
Some see say dem a surfer, reality dem a drifter
Some want fi reach without the taste of the bitter
It a reality but on Netflix look s better
Watch it create a brand new human behaviour
A brand new kind of demeanour
When comes the change
Are you going to make it?
Here comes the wave
Are you going to take it
Will you take a chance?
DonDon't just stare in a glance
Come take a stance
No leave without a dance
So me say wake up, lift up
Man a gonna shake up
Steady man a ready for the ground a go break up
No man a bigger than Jah we a look up
All up ina field man a plant man a keep up
Coconut cassava yam and banana
Still ina we yard a go remain ever after
None dem a build a go live up forever
All we a lost is a must to recover
Deep down, deep ground, seed it a push up
No chip a fit under me skin man a live up
No meat a fit ina me meal me nah eat up
When di wicked man a come attack me nah give up
One fi di father and one fi di mother
One step, two step, man a go further
Lay pon the riddim and I seek and go deeper
Lyrically chant ina word, sound, power
Man a lyrically chant ina word, sound, power
Ina word, sound, power
Lyrically chant in word, sound, power
When comes the change
