President Barack Obama HD White House Correspondents' Association Dinner 2014
President Barack Obama at 2014 white house correspondents association dinner watch president barack obama joke the white house correspondents association dinner 2014 took aim at Republicans, the media — and himself — at Saturday's White House Correspondents' Association Dinner - beginning and ending with the botched rollout of Healthcare.gov. "I usually start these dinners with a few self-deprecating jokes, but after my stellar 2013, what could I possibly talk about?" the president joked. "At one point things got so bad, the 47 percent called Mitt Romney to apologize," Obama added. (PHOTOS: White House correspondents' dinner red carpet) The president deadpanned that the rollout of Healthcare.gov "could've gone better," but said it was turned into one of the year's biggest movies, before showing a title screen for the film "Frozen." At the end of his 20-minute remarks, Obama brought out Kathleen Sebelius to "fix" a technical problem that he was having with a video he wanted to play for those in attendance at the Hilton. Obama also took aim at Republicans, including Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). "These days House Republicans are giving him a harder time than they give me, which means orange really is the new lack," Obama joked. (VIDEOS: White House Correspondents' Dinner) The president also riffed about Washington gridlock at the expense of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and the Bridgegate scandal. "Gridlock has gotten so bad, you've got to wonder, what did we do to piss off Chris Christie so bad," Obama joked. Obama eventually turned the jokes to the media, including CNN's recent coverage of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, noting that he just returned from Malaysia. "The lengths we have to go to to get CNN coverage these days," Obama joked. "I think they're still searching for their table." "MSNBC is here, they're a little overwhelmed. They've never seen an audience this big before," the president joked. Turning to Fox News, Obama addressed the criticism he received for promoting Obamacare on "Between Two Ferns." "I'm not the first person on television between two potted plants," Obama joked while a photo of "Fox and Friends" host Elisabeth Hasselbeck sitting between her co-hosts, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade was displayed on screen. "Sometimes I do feel disrespected by you reporters," Obama said, but added he got some tips from Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman. "Jake Tapper, don't you ever talk about me like that! I'm the best president in the game!" Hollywood and politics were shoulder to shoulder on Saturday evening as stars, pundits and officials began arriving on the red carpet for one of D.C.'s glitziest nights, falling on the 100th anniversary of the press group. Spotted entering the Washington Hilton were actors Patrick Stewart, Sofia Vergara, Matthew Morrison and Katharine McPhee. Dallas Cowboys' Tony Romo was another early arrival with his wife as well as "Duck Dynasty" stars Willie and Korie Robertson. The stars will be among the 2,600 guests expected to fill the Hilton's ballroom, alongside the president and the first lady, who arrived to the hotel around 7 p.m., according to the pool report. Also arriving together were the cast of HBO's "Veep" including: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Anna Chlumsky, Gary Cole, Tony Hale, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons, Kevin Dunn and Sufe Bradshaw. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the White House Correspondents' Association, which throws the one of the biggest parties in town. Each spring, D.C.'s notables -- and hopefully some bold-name guests — file into the hotel to hear remarks from the president and the selected comedic host — this year, "Community" actor and comedian Joel McHale takes on that role from Conan O'Brien, who had guests of "This Town" and Tinseltown in stitches last year. president barack obama white house correspondents dinner watch president barack obama jokes at whcd white house correspondents dinner video barack obama at the white house correspondents dinner 2014 watch obama at the whcd 2014 president obama tells jokes at white house correspondents dinner president barack obama white house correspondents dinner watch president barack obama jokes at whcd white house correspondents dinner watch barack obama at the white house correspondents dinner 2014 video obama at the whcd 2014 president obama tells jokes at white house correspondents dinner- published: 04 May 2014

'President Barack Obama 9/11' Obama 911 Memorial Museum Speech Obama speech New York Memorial Museum Opening Obama at New York 9/11 museum ceremony. Emotional Remarks. (BBC) President Barack Obama has joined September 11 survivors and rescuers at the dedication of a memorial museum on the site of the attacks in New York. The National September 11 Memorial Museum includes thousands of personal items and parts of the World Trade Center towers themselves. The museum will be fully open to the public on 21 May. Almost 3,000 people died on 11 September 2001 after al-Qaeda hijackers flew aeroplanes into the towers. Another hijacked plane hit the Pentagon. A fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers fought with the hijackers. 'Dread' President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama toured the museum, viewing a memorial wall with photos of victims and a mangled fire truck, before the ceremony began at 1000 EST (1500 BST). Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton joined them. In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Mr Bloomberg said the museum was "a reminder to us and all future generations that freedom carries heavy responsibilities". President Obama said the museum means we can all "look into the faces of nearly 3,000 innocent souls". "We can touch their names and hear their voices, glimpse the small items that speak to the beauty of their lives - the wedding rings, a duty helmet, a shining badge," he told those gathered. As well as rescuers, survivors and relatives of people who lost their lives, there was in attendance the New York mayor at the time of the attacks, Rudy Giuliani, the present mayor, Bill de Blasio and actor Robert De Niro. Along with the nearby memorial plaza, the New York city museum cost $700m (£418m) in donations and public money. The museum, not far from the original site of the World Trade Center, is largely underground. The museum features dramatic and horrific moments of the day in videos, including the two skyscrapers collapsing, but also symbols of heroism, such as damaged fire trucks and the wristwatch of one of the passengers who confronted the hijackers. "You won't walk out of this museum without a feeling that you understand humanity in a deeper way," said museum President Joe Daniels. Charles Wolf, who lost his wife Katherine in the attacks, said he was awaiting the ceremonial opening on Thursday with a mix of anticipation and dread. "It brings everything up," he said. The museum is not without controversy. Some relatives of victims are upset that unidentified humans remains found in the rubble will be on display in the museum. Some Muslim groups have also said a video describing al-Qaeda and the run-up to the attacks does not differentiate enough between the violent hijackers motivated by a radical vision of Islam and regular Muslims. full video address statement speech remarks full video address statement speech remarks full video address statement speech remarks full video address statement speech remarks full video address statement speech remarks full video address statement speech remarks full video address statement speech remarks President Obama Emotional Speech at National 9/11 Memorial Museum | FULLPresident Obama Emotional Speech at National 9/11 Memorial Museum | FULLPresident Obama Emotional Speech at National 9/11 Memorial Museum | FULLPresident Obama Emotional Speech at National 9/11 Memorial Museum | FULL- published: 15 May 2014
