Nicky Horne was a road manager for Emperor Rosko in 1969, before presenting shows on BBC Radio 1, from 1970 - 1973.
Horne was one of the original line-up on London's Capital Radio, where he presented shows such as Your Mother Wouldn't like it, Mummy's Weekly & 6 of the Best. He remained on Capital Radio until 1986.
He covered American football with Miles Aiken in the 1980s.
Since then, he re-joined Radio 1 in the early 1990s where he was a stand-in presenter and at the same time, he presented a weekend afternoon show on Classic FM. He also worked on the UK commercial radio overnight sustaining service, The Superstation.
His TV career has included presenting American Football on Channel 4, Rock Steady, and Earsay also on Channel 4, American Football, and NBA for Sky Sports, and for many years was the presenter of ATP tennis, and Davis Cup worldwide.
Horne joined Virgin Radio in 1995, working 7 days a week. He took over the drivetime show from the sacked Nick Abbot and 2 weekend shows as well. In 1997 he took on the weekday afternoon show from 1-4pm, before leaving the station in 1998.
John Robert Parker Ravenscroft, OBE (30 August 1939 – 25 October 2004), known professionally as John Peel, was an English disc jockey, radio presenter, record producer and journalist. He was the longest serving of the original BBC Radio 1 DJs, broadcasting regularly from 1967 until his death in 2004. He was known for his eclectic taste in music and his honest and warm broadcasting style.
He was one of the first broadcasters to play psychedelic rock and progressive rock records on British radio, and he is widely acknowledged for promoting artists working in various genres, including pop, reggae, indie pop, indie rock, alternative rock, punk, hardcore punk, breakcore, grindcore, death metal, British hip hop, electronic music, jungle and dance music. Fellow DJ Paul Gambaccini described him as "the most important man in music for about a dozen years".
Peel's Radio 1 shows were notable for the regular "Peel sessions", which usually consisted of four songs recorded by an artist live in the BBC's studios, and which often provided the first major national coverage to bands that would later achieve great fame. Another popular feature of his shows was the annual Festive Fifty countdown of his listeners' favourite records of the year.
Brian Harold May, CBE (born 19 July 1947) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and astrophysicist, best known as the lead guitarist of the rock band Queen. He uses a home-built electric guitar, called the Red Special. His compositions for the band include "We Will Rock You", "Tie Your Mother Down", "I Want It All", "Fat Bottomed Girls", "The Prophet's Song", "Flash", "Hammer to Fall", "Save Me", "Who Wants to Live Forever" and "The Show Must Go On".
May was a co-founder of Queen with lead singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor, having previously performed with Taylor in the band Smile, which he had joined while he was at university. Within five years of their formation in 1970 and the recruitment of bass player John Deacon completing the lineup, Queen had become established as one of the biggest rock bands in Britain with the album A Night at the Opera and its single "Bohemian Rhapsody". From the mid-1970s until the early 1990s, Queen were an almost constant presence in the UK charts and played some of the biggest venues in the world, most notably giving an acclaimed performance at Live Aid in 1985. As a member of Queen, May became regarded as a virtuoso musician and he was identified with a distinctive sound created through his layered guitar work. Following the death of Mercury in 1991, Queen were put on hiatus for several years but were eventually reconvened by May and Taylor for further performances featuring other vocalists. In 2005, a Planet Rock poll saw May voted the 7th greatest guitarist of all time. He was ranked at No. 26 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". In 2012, May was ranked the 2nd greatest guitarist of all time by a Guitar World magazine readers poll.

In November 1977, Pete Townshend, along with producer Glyn Johns, visited Nicky Horne's Capital Radio show 'Mummy's Weekly' armed with a stash of home demos to play on air. Here is the full interview in four parts. Please note: The audio quality is not perfect. This was recorded from the radio over thirty years ago and the tape is now old & noisy. Part one includes the demo for Sister Disco.
This is a recording of Rory doing (in my opinion) a great version of Moonchild. From an old recording from the Nicky Horne radio show on Capital Radio. I don't think it's on YouTube. Enjoy.
