Howrah Ranchi Shatabdi Express - brand new LHB Rake: Highlights from a Complete Journey
Howrah Ranchi Shatabdi Express - brand new LHB Rake: Highlights from a Complete Journey
Highlights from a full journey compilation on the Howrah Ranchi Shatabdi Express. Introduced in the latter half of the 1990s, the train was upgraded in November 2013 to LHB rakes. Five Kolkata rail enthusiasts, Chirag da, Souro da, Trayambak da and yours truly undertook a journey on this train on a lovely early January day to Ranchi and back. Major highlights of the journey include some wonderful high speed passage between Howrah and Dhanbad, with some rapid crossings with the New Delhi Sealdah Rajdhani Express and the perennially late Kalka Mail. There was some slow and mundane progress between Dhanbad and Chandrapura. Things brightened up on the approach to Chandrapura as we engaged in some lovely parallel action with the Gomoh Barka Kana Passener, led by a Mughal Sarai WAM4. This was particularly refreshing, as the morning parallel action with the Ganadevta resulted in a lukewarm outcome. At Chandrapura, we met the Bhubaneshwar Dhanbad Garib Rath, led by a Bondamunda WDM3A, and upon crossing the Damodar River, a Ghaziabad WAP4 waited with the Purushottam Express, its new LHB rakes gleaming in the morning sun. After Chandrapura, we are fully into the Chhota Nagpur Plateau, and the rocky hills of Jharkhand come into view. After crossing the Subarnarekha, the train curves into Muri, and the Muri Ranchi Ghat section begins. The Howrah WAP7 powers the Shatabdi through the densely forested Chhota Nagpur Hills. Even in the peak of winter, the forests were lush with vegetation, and with the sun sufficiently high into the sky, the Shatabdi's brand new LHB coaches were glistening in the sun, curving tightly left and right through innumerable S-curves.- published: 18 May 2014

Full Journey on Howrah Rajdhani Express (via Patna): Howrah-Patna
Back in 1993, India's fourth Rajdhani came in the form of a variation of the Howrah Rajdhani, as it was deemed to run via Patna once a week on Sundays, as a variant to the standard Howrah Rajdhani via Gaya. Back in the days, it had no commercial halts between Howrah and Patna and a technical halt at Jhajha, Till the Asansol-Patna-Mughal Sarai section got fully electrified, the train ran with twin WDM2s, in matching Rajdhani livery, making it a spectacular sight. But I guess all good things in life come to an end: the twin diesels are a thing of the past now, and the usual Ghaziabad WAP7 takes charge of the Howrah Rajdhani via Patna. I had last traveled on this train back in 2008, and was eager to undertake another journey, through the hinterlands of northern Jharkhand during early monsoons. The first part of this compilation features the Rajdhani's progress in the first 545 kilometres between Howrah and Patna. The Rajdhani starts of briskly on a cloudy afternoon and races through the Howrah Bardhaman chord, maintaining a fantastic tempo right through till Asansol, the highlight being the devastating skip of Durgapur at 130 kmph. This video also contains the skip of Bardhaman - something which is presently not done by this train as it has a scheduled stoppage there. At Asansol, we overtake the Kolkata Jammu Tawi Express and veer off northwards into the mainline at Sitarampur. Between Sitarampur and Jasidih, the terrain is relatively flat with minor undulations, and a few small hills in the distance. There are however some stunning curves close to the major river crossings such as the Jayanti, Puthroo and Mayurakshi rivers, making for a spectacular view. The heavens split apart soon after the Mayurakshi crossing and we had a refreshing thunderstorm. Between Jasidih and Jhajha, the terrain becomes more hillier with sparser population and a small forested area before Jhajha. A section in particularly before Jhajha, where the train negotiates a rock cutting, is quite stunning. After the picturesque Jhajha station, surrounded by small hills, we witness a most spectacular sunset, and clatter away towards Kiul. At this point, I began sharing the door with a very friendly RPF official, who was on duty in full combat gear in our coach. Just a couple of weeks prior to our journey, a militant group owing allegiance to the Maoist insurgents had attacked the Dhanbad Patna Intercity Express in this area (just after Jamui), and the RPF official was very eager to show me this place. At Gidhaur, we encountered a horribly late Poorva Express (over 10 hours delayed) and a little before nightfall, crossed Jamui. There was a wonderful dinner in the evening, with soup, a classic fish fry and paneer cutlet, rice, dal, roti and chicken, topped off by a mango and Kesar Pista ice-cream. The train rolled into Patna 10 minutes ahead of schedule.- published: 07 Jun 2014

Full Journey in Shatabdi Express : Puri - Howrah Shatabdi Express..!!
I wont tell you the way it happened...i will tell you the way i remembered...!!! Date 6th of January 2014 was waiting for late running Puroshattam and Chennai Mail to arrive at Bhubaneswar then to interrupt a PAS "12278 PURI-HOWRAH Shatabdi running on time and will be soon expected to reach Bhubaneswar...!! 7.07..again the PAS came alive with announcing 12278 Shatabdi entering Bhubaneswar Pf No 2.I started to proceed towards my coach Position i.e C 9. Bang on 7:10 a Red Beast appeared at the station end...no doubt it was my Shatabdi hauled by no other but Santragathchi (SRC) WAP 4 with Road Number #22891 breaking the morning midst with its headlamp on. Train Halted and CC 9 in front of me. Let others board in and was the last to board into the coach..!! ICF Old Rake with Duronto Vinyl still intact with two tone Duronto livery. Entering the coach I wasen't that pleased seeing the shabby coach, still entered inside to see except the last row all seats were full except mine which was 64. Adjusted my luggage on the luggage bay and kept my Laptop Bag on my Seat and took my camera and rushed towards the door as was expecting Purroshottam LHB withing a few seconds...!!! First to cross was 40 mins late running Chennai Mail with its customary Link SRC WAP 4. My Loco was going with constant honking which made a doubt on my mind which cleared when I peeped out to see Zero Visibility outside...hardly could see the next to next coach after me...!!! Crossed New Bhubneshwar Station which is still into the construction..went inside to settle down . I took the last row of TTE and sat there...soon Pantry staffs came with a lot of news paper and I opted for a English Newspaper though I dinna even opened it...next to diliver was a one litre bottle of IRCTC's Rail Neer....whcih made me happy that this train has a IRCTC Catering & Pantry Service. While my mind was constantly on Purroshottam's LHB,I told my Attendent to keep further stuffs on my Seat's Tray as I will be at the door wanted to capture the New Puroshottam..!! He smiled and said ok...!! I went towards the door to see the train being looped at Barang, thoughed that it will be passing of Purroshottam Express but I think it was for lifting up of front panto as the Fog was too dense to be driven with Back Panto. Within seconds it got green and proceded towards Cuttak n crossed Kuakhai Bridge on a gaint curve just to see that a Headlamp Glowing on loopline...when I read the loco's name it was SRC...with happiness it could not be any other than the ECoR's Pride the King 12802 Puroshottam with its loud humming generator's roar...!!! Crossed the king keeping it on loop line made me feel proud that this shatabdi had more patronage..it accelerated and I closed the door and went inside just to see my breakfast already kept on my tray...!! I washed my hands and took my seat keeping my cam inside my bag. When I checked my breakfast to see that there was no Jam Chiplet on my tray,I called the attendant to get a answer that it has been discontinued after the hike..!! Had my breakfast and saw thaand was too tired as was constant awake the previous night because of constant Whats App,FB n Updating... :P, kept my newspaper on my Front tray and rested my head on it and slept..!!! Later when i woke up it was Hijli being crossed...after which i got Geetanjali overtake at KGP Outer and secondary maintenance at KGP...!!! Rest is on the video and do comment your feedback...!!!- published: 01 Apr 2014

AMAZING HOWRAH BRIDGE KOLKATTA - WEST BENGAL (INDIA)
The Howrah Bridge, is a cantilever bridge with a suspended span over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. Commissioned in 1943, the bridge was originally named the New Howrah Bridge, because it replaced a pontoon bridge at the same location linking the two cities of Howrah and Kolkata (Calcutta). On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu, after the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore, who was the first Indian and Asian Nobel laureate. It is still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge. The bridge is one of four on the Hooghly River and is a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal. The other bridges are the Vidyasagar Setu (popularly called the Second Hooghly Bridge), the Vivekananda Setu, and the newly built Nivedita Setu. It weathers the storms of the Bay of Bengal region, carrying a daily traffic of approximately 100,000 vehicles and possibly more than 150,000 pedestrians,[9] easily making it the busiest cantilever bridge in the world. The third-longest cantilever bridge at the time of its construction, the Howrah Bridge is the sixth-longest bridge of its type in the world. for more amazing related videos subscribe to our channel:http://goo.gl/kOtZNL- published: 25 Jan 2014
