Scary, scary, scary! Did anyone see The Omega Man starring Chuck “cold dead hand” Heston (btw, did anyone test that out when he croaked?) as the hero up against loony religious mutant nutters? Anthony Zerbe as Mutant Leader who starts his career as a TV demagogue and now wants to kill anyopne not infected with his own brand of dark age mentalism.

Forget Osama — the US has it’s own fine brand of zealots racing to power.

I saw an episode of Homicide:Life on the Street today where the robber of the Pimlico Savings & Loan in the eighties said to detectives: ” I hear it’s not there no more. That’s not down to us. Some banker looted it more effectively than we ever could. We were small potatoes.”

Bless her, Palin is just one long long piece of comedy and brilliantly brings it on herself. Long may she keep digging that hole. Darn totin’, doggone it and you betcha all the way.

Did you see McCain trying to rein in Palin’s supporters when he called Obama a `decent man’ at a rally and they all started booing him and shouting `terrorist’? The dream ticket is now a nightmare ticket.

All the liberal sneering at Sarah Palin (in the US and abroad) actually increases her fortunes with ordinary American voters, especially the religious. As someone inclined towards McCain and Palin, and amused by the leftwing fear-mongering against them, I hope this sneering continues.

Craig, you prick, you might have had a point for ten minutes but then people decided that they didn’t want to collectively commit suicide. That’s not to say that you might not be right in a few years time. But why waste time? Kill yourself now and save us a bullet.

Craig, I’ll carry on sneering at a woman who denies a woman’s right to choose, said nothing when rape victims were expected to pay for their justice and sees the arctic as a “wasteland”. Etc etc. etc. She is beyond parody and belief.

But I tend to think she is putting off ordinary Americans along with supporting an ideology that believes in sticking their snouts in the trough of free-market capitalism. Yeah Craig, you carry on supporting this (un)dynamic duo and see where they getcha. Up a certain creak without a paddle? You betcha!

Karim Fatih in today’s Racing Post recommends selling McCain electoral votes at 202, reckoning that Obama has such a lead that only a major gaffe or skeleton could change, and if there were any of the latter they’d probably have been dragged from the closet by now.

I had a mate at college who used to lose a lot of money on the nags: about a grand a year, which was quite a lot of money for a student back then and probably still is now. There was no horse so obviously three-legged that he would not fancy it at the odds available. He was notorious for it.

A few years later he was working as a tipster for the Racing Post.
