Coors Field, located in Denver, Colorado, is the home field of Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies. It is named for the Coors Brewing Company of Golden, Colorado, which purchased the naming rights to the park prior to its completion in 1995. The Rockies played their first two seasons, 1993 and 1994, in Mile High Stadium before moving to Coors Field, two blocks from Union Station in Denver's Lower Downtown (or LoDo) neighborhood. The park includes 63 luxury suites and 4,526 club seats.

Coors Field was the first new stadium added in a six-year period in which Denver's sports venues were upgraded, along with Pepsi Center and Sports Authority Field at Mile High (originally sponsored by INVESCO). It was also the first baseball-only National League Park since Dodger Stadium was built in 1962. When Marlins Park opened in 2012, Coors Field became the third oldest stadium in the National League, despite its relatively young age.

As with the other new venues, Coors Field was constructed with accessibility in mind. It sits near Interstate 25 and has direct access to the 20th Street and Park Avenue exits. Nearby Union Station also provides light rail access.

Anthony Keith "Tony" Gwynn, Jr. (born October 4, 1982, in Long Beach, California) is a Major League Baseball (MLB) player, who is currently with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is the son of baseball Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn.

Gwynn graduated from Poway High School in California. He was drafted out of high school by the Atlanta Braves in the 33rd round of the 2000 MLB Draft but did not sign. He played college baseball at his father's alma mater, San Diego State University. He was a Mountain West Conference All-Star with his junior year in 2003, when he hit .359 and stole 25 bases.

Gwynn was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2nd round of the 2003 MLB Draft. After a couple of years in the minor leagues, he made his major league debut on July 15, 2006, as a pinch hitter against the Arizona Diamondbacks. His first major league hit on July 19 (against San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson) came exactly 24 years to the day of his father's first major league hit — both doubles. Towards the end of the 2006 campaign, Gwynn received more playing time, replacing Brady Clark in the lineup. He appeared in 32 games for the Brewers in 2006, hitting .260 and made the Brewers' opening day roster for 2007.

Anthony Keith "Tony" Gwynn, Sr. (born May 9, 1960), nicknamed Mr. Padre and Captain Video, is a retired American Major League Baseball right fielder. He is statistically one of the best and most consistent hitters in baseball history. He played his entire 20-year baseball career for the San Diego Padres (1982–2001). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on January 9, 2007 and was inducted on July 29. He is the first National League player born during the 1960s to earn the honor (Kirby Puckett was the first American Leaguer). He batted and threw left-handed.

Despite playing much of his career at a "power position" (right field is known for producing sluggers) during a time when home runs were at an all-time high, he was not a home run threat, never hitting more than 17 in any one season during his major league career. Instead, Gwynn made a name for himself by being one of the most consistent contact hitters in the game's history. Gwynn hit .338 for his career and won eight National League batting titles. He struck out only 434 times in 9,288 career at-bats, and never batted below .309 in any full season.

Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton (born November 8, 1989 in Panorama City, Los Angeles, California) is an outfielder for the Miami Marlins. He began his career in 2010. Prior to the 2012 season, he was known publicly as "Mike" Stanton.

Stanton attended Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga before he left and went to Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks) in Los Angeles. There he was a three-sport athlete, he had accepted a scholarship to play baseball for USC, and was receiving offers from UCLA and UNLV to play football.^{[citation needed]} However he opted to go pro after being drafted in the second round (76th overall) in the 2007 amateur draft by the Florida Marlins.

Stanton is of Irish, African-American, and Puerto Rican descent. He is of Puerto Rican heritage on his mother's side and looks up to Iván Rodríguez and Roberto Clemente as his favorite baseball players. To celebrate this, the Marlins will give a Giancarlo Stanton Bobblehead figure to the first 15,000 fans to arrive to the stadium on August 29, 2012, which is Puerto Rican Heritage Night. He also belongs to the Criollos de Caguas in the Puerto Rico Baseball League.

Alphonse Dante Bichette, Sr. ( /ˈdɑːnteɪ bɨˈʃɛt/; born November 18, 1963 in West Palm Beach, Florida) is a former Italian-American Major League Baseball player. Bichette was a four-time All-Star as a member of the Colorado Rockies.

He began his career with the California Angels in 1988, but was a streaky hitter and was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in 1991. After putting up only average numbers with Milwaukee, he was traded to the new expansion team, the Colorado Rockies. On April 7, 1993 he hit the first home-run in Rockies history, a solo shot off of New York Mets pitcher Bret Saberhagen. It was with the Rockies where he shone as a player. Bichette was part of the "Blake Street Bombers" which also included sluggers Larry Walker, Andres Galarraga, and Vinny Castilla. At least some of his slugging success can be attributed to the home run-friendly ballparks in Denver, Mile High Stadium and Coors Field. During his time in Colorado, his at-bat music was Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel.

He finished the Rockies' first season with 21 home runs and a .310 batting average, his personal best for both at the time. Bichette also hit his first home run at the newly-constructed Coors Field, a fourteenth-inning smash against the Mets that secured an opening day victory for the Rockies in 1995. Bichette had his best season in 1995, coming very close to the Triple Crown with a .340 batting average, 40 home runs and 128 RBIs and barely lost the MVP voting to the Cincinnati Reds' Barry Larkin.
