Maybe you've heard of a terrible place
Where the soundrels of Paris
Collect in a lair
Maybe you've heard of that mythical place
Called the Court of Miracles
Hello, you're there!
Where the lame can walk
And the blind can see
But the dead don't talk
So you won't be around
To reveal what you've found
We have a method for spies and intruders
Rather like hornets protecting their hive
Here in the Court of Miracles
Where it's a miracle if you get out alive!
Clopin
Justice is swift in the Court of Miracles
I am the lawyers and judge all in one
We like to get the trial over with quickly
Because it's the sentence that's really the fun!
Now that we've seen all the evicence
Puppet
Wait! I object!
Clopin
Overruled!
Puppet
I object!
Clopin
Quiet!
Puppet
Dang!
Clopin
We find you totally innocent
Which is the worst crime of all
Bless my soul
Herc was on a roll
Person of the week in evry Greek opinion poll
What a pro
Herc could stop a show
Point him at a monster and you're talking SRO
He was a no one
A zero, zero
Now he's a honcho
He's a hero
Here was a kid with his act down pat
From zero to hero in no time flat
Zero to hero just like that
When he smiled
The girls went wild with
oohs and aahs
And they slapped his face
On ev'ry vase
(on ev'ry "vase")
From appearance fees and royalties
Our Herc had cash to burn
Now nouveau riche and famous
He could tell you
What's a Grecian urn?
Say amen
There he goes again
Sweet and undefeated
And an awesome 10 for 10
Folks lined up
Just to watch him flex
And this perfect package
packed a pair of pretty pecs
Hercie, he comes
He sees, he conquers
Honey, the crowds were
Going bonkers
He showed the moxie brains, and spunk
From zero to hero a major hunk
Zero to hero and who'da thunk
Who put the glad in gladiator?
Hercules!
Whose daring deeds are great theater?
Hercules
Is he bold?
No one braver
Is he sweet
Our fav'rite flavor
Hercules, Hercules ...
Bless my soul
Herc was on a roll
Undefeated
Riding high
And the nicest guy
not conceited
He was a nothin'
A zero, zero
Now he's a honcho
He's a hero
He hit the heights at breackneck speed
From zero to hero
Herc is a hero
Now he's a hero
was walking in the Wholesale Flower District that day.
And I passed by this place where this old chinese man...
He sometimes sells me weird and exotic cuttings.
'Cuase he knows, you see that, well, strange plants are my hobby.
He didn't have anything unusual there that day.
So I was just about to, you know, walk on by.
When suddenly, and without warning,
There was this...
(Total eclipse of the Sun)
It got very dark...
And there was this strange humming sound,
Like something from another world...
And when the light came back this weird plant was just sitting there.
Just, you know, stuck in, uh-among the zinias.
I coulda sworn it hadn't been there before.
But the old chinese man sold it to me anyways.
Come one, come all
Leave your looms and milking stools
Coop the hens and pen the mules
Come one, come all
Close the churches and the schools
It's the day for breaking rules
Come and join the Feast of Fools
Once a year we throw a party here in town
Once a year we turn all Paris upside down
Every man's a king and every king's a clown
Once again it's Topsy Turvy Day
It's the day the Devil in us gets released
It's the day we mock the pig and shock the priest
Everything is topsy turvy at the Feast of Fools
(Topsy turvy)
Everything is upsy-daisy
(Topsy turvy)
Everyone is acting crazy
Dross is gold and weeds are a bouquet
That's the way on Topsy Turvy Day
(Topsy turvy)
Beat the drums and blow the trumpets
(Topsy turvy)
Join the bums and thieves and strumpets
Streaming in from Chartres to Calais
Scurvy knaves are extra scurvy on the sixth of January
All because it's Topsy Turvy Day
Come one, come all
Hurry, hurry, here's your chance
See the mystery and romance
Come one, come all
See the finest girl in France
Make an entrance to entrance
Dance la Esmeralda, dance
Here it is, the moment you've been waiting for
Here it is, you know exactly what's in store
Now's the time we laugh until our sides get sore
Now's the time we crown the King of Fools
So make a face that's horrible and frightening
Make a face as gruesome as a gargoyle's wing
For the face that's ugliest will be the King of Fools
Why?
(Topsy turvy)
Ugly folks, forget your shyness
(Topsy turvy)
You could soon be called, "Your Highness"
Put the foulest features on display
Be the king of Topsy Turvy Day
Everybody
Once a year we throw a party, here in town
(Hail to the king)
Once a year we turn all Paris upside down
(Oh, what a king!)
Once a year the ugliest will wear a crown
(Girls, give a kiss)
Once a year on Topsy Turvy Day
(We've never had a king like this)
And it's the day we do the things that we deplore
On the other three hundred and sixty-four
Once a year we love to drop in, where the beer is never stoppin'
For the chance to pop some popinjay
And pick a king who'll put the top in Topsy Turvy Day
Jack:
Pulitzer and Hearst, they think we're nothing!
Are we nothing?
Newsies:
Jack:
Pulitzer and Hearst, they think they got us
Do they got us?
Newsies:
Jack:
Even though we ain't got hats or badges
We're a union just by saying so
And the World will know!
What's it gonna take to stop the wagons?
Are we ready?
Newsies:
Yeah!
Jack:
What's it gonna take to stop the scabbers?
Can we do it?
Newsies:
Yeah!
Jack:
We'll do what we gotta do until we
Break the will of mighty Bill and Joe!
ALL:
And the World will know!
And the Journal too!
Mister Hearst and Pulitzer
Have we got news for you
Now the World will hear
What we got to say
We been hawking headlines
But we're making 'em today
And our ranks will grow
Crutchy:
And we'll kick their rear
ALL:
And the World will know
That we been here!
Jack:
When the circulation bell starts ringing,
Will we hear it?
Newsies:
Jack:
What if the Delanceys come out swinging?
Will we hear it?
ALL:
When you got a hundred voices singing
Who can hear a lousy whistle blow?
And the world will know
That this ain't no game
That we got a ton of rotten fruit and perfect aim
So they gave their word
But it ain't worth beans
Now they're gonna see what
"Stop the presses" really means
And the day has come
And the time is now
And the fear is gone
Boots:
And their name is mud!
Newsies:
And the strike is on
Boots:
And I can't stand blood!
Newsies:
And the world will--
Jack:
Pulitzer may own the World but he don't own us ...
Newsies:
Pulitzer may own the World but he don't own--
Jack:
Pulitzer may crack the whip but he won't whip us!
Newsies:
Pulitzer may crack the whip
But he won't whip us!
And the world will know
And the world will learn
And the world will wonder how
We made the tables turn
And the world will see
That we had to choose
That the things we do today
Will be tomorrow's news
And the old will fall
And the young stand tall
And the time is now
And the winds will blow
And our ranks will grow
And grow, and grow
And so
The world will feel the fire
This is where I belong
Beneath the clear wide blue here!
I feel completely new here in the world above!
It's like my life was wrong
And somehow, now, at last I'm in
My own skin
Up here in the world above!
There's so much light here
Light and space!
The sun so bright here
Upon my face!
It feels so right here
Warm as love...
Life seems to be
Almost calling to me
[Men]
In sixteen hundred seven
We sail the open sea
For glory, God, and gold
And The Virginia Company
For the New World is like heaven
And we'll all be rich and free
Or so we have been told
By The Virginia Company
For glory, God and gold
And The Virginia Company
On the beaches of Virginny
There's diamonds like debris
There's silver rivers flow
And gold you pick right off a tree
With a nugget for my Winnie
And another one for me
And all the rest'll go
To The Virginia Company
It's glory, God and gold
Through the mist
Through the woods
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare, but it's one exciting ride
Say a prayer
Then we're there
At the drawbridge of a castle
And there's something truly terrible inside
It's a beast
He's got fangs
Razor-sharp ones
Massive paws
Killer claws for the feast
Hear him roar
See him foam
But we're not coming home
Till he's dead
Good and dead!
Kill the Beast!
Raise your torch, mount your horse
Screw your courage to the sticking place
We're counting on Gaston to lead the way
Through the mist
Through the wood
Where within a haunted castle
Something's lurking that you don't see every day
[Mob:] It's a beast
One as tall as a mountain
We won't rest
Till he's good and deceased
Sally forth!
Tally ho!
Grab your sword!
Grab your bow!
Praise the Lord and here we go!
We don't like
What we don't understand
In fact it, scares us
And this monster is mysterious at least
Bring your guns!
Bring your knives!
Save your children and your wives
We'll save our village and our lives
We'll kill the Beast!
[Castleware:] Lights ablaze
Banners high
We go marching into battle
Unafraid, although the danger just increased
[Mob:] Raise the flag!
Sing the song!
Here we come, we're fifty strong
And fifty Frenchmen can't be wrong
[AGENT 1]

I'm telling you son, it's a cinch to get ratings

[CRYSTAL, RONETTE, CHIFFON]
They say the meek shall inherit
You know the book doesn't lie
It's not a question of merit
It's not demand and supply
They say the meek gonna get it
And you're a meek little guy
You know the meek are gonna get what's comin' to 'em by and by
[SEYMOUR]
My future's starting
I've got to let it
Stick with that plant, and gee, my bank account will thrive
What am I saying? No way! Forget it!
It's much too dangerous to keep that plant alive
I take these offers, that means more killing
Who knew success would come with messy, nasty strings?
I sign these contracts, that means I'm willing
to keep on doing bloody, awful, evil things
No! No! There's only so far you can bend
No! No! This nightmare must come to an end
No! No! You've got no alternative, Seymour old boy
Though it means you'll be broke again and unemployed,
It's the only solution. It can't be avoided
The vegetable must be destroyed
But then there's Audrey, lovely Audrey.
If life were tawdry and impov'rished as before,
She might not like me, she might not want me
Without my plant, she might not love me anymore
[CRYSTAL, RONETTE, CHIFFON]
They say the meek shall inherit
[SEYMOUR]
Where do I sign?
[CRYSTAL, RONETTE, CHIFFON]
You know the book doesn't lie
[SEYMOUR]
Right on the line?
[CRYSTAL, RONETTE, CHIFFON]
It's not a question of merit
[SEYMOUR]
That'll do fine.
[CRYSTAL, RONETTE, CHIFFON]
It's not demand and supply
[SEYMOUR]
This copy's mine?
[CRYSTAL, RONETTE, CHIFFON]
You'll make a fortune, we swear it,
If on this fact you rely
Bye bye. So long.
You know the meek are gonna get what's comin' to 'em,
you know the meek are gonna get what's comin' to 'em,
you know the meek are gonna get what's comin' to 'em
Young Herc was mortal now
But since he did not drink the last drop
He still retained his godlike strength
So thank his lucky star
But Zeus and Hera wept
Because their son could never come home
They'd have to watch their precious baby
Grow up from afar
Though Hades horrid plan
Was hatched before Herc cut his first tooth
The boy grew stronger every day
And that's the gospel truth
If there's one God you don't want to get steamed up
It's Hades, 'cause he had an evil plan
He ran the Underworld
But thought the dead were dull and uncouth
He was as mean as he was ruthless
And that's the Gospel truth
He had a plan to shake things up

Flotsam: Poor child.
Jetsam: Poor sweet child.
Flotsam: She ahas a very serious problem. Hasn't she?
Flotsam: If only...
Jetsam: ...there were something...
Together: ...we could do.
[Flotsam and Jetsam]
Sweet child
Poor child
So, tragic
So misunderstood
Dear child
Sad child
Life’s looking
Shall we say
Not good
Who’ll release her woes and worries
Who will help her get her man
Sweet child
Perhaps the sea witch can
Ariel: You can't possibly mean Aunt Ursula?
[Flotsam and Jetsam]
She knows your dreams
Ariel: Father says her magic is evil.
[Flotsam and Jetsam]
She’ll grant your prayers
Ariel: Please, I have to go!
[Flotsam and Jetsam]
She’ll cast a charm
A tiny spell
Why the alarm
No one will tell
No one will care
It’s your affair
Sweet child
Dear child
Poor child
Sad child
We’ll bring you to her lair right now
Bet in half a sec
Your prince and you are reconciled
Flotsam: Together...
Jetsam: ...forever.
Ariel: Take me to her.
[Flotsam and Jetsam]
He's got your number now.
He knows just what you've done.
You've got no place to hide.
You've got nowhere to run.
He knows your life of crime.
I think it's suppertime!
Come on, Come on...
Think about all those offers!
Come on, Come on...
Your future with Audrey!
Come on, Come on...
Ain't no time to turn squeemish!
C-C-C-Come on!
I swear on all my spores...
When he's gone the world will be yours.
Come on, Come on...
Come on, Come on...
Come on, Come on...
It's suppertime...
It's suppertime...
Come on, Come on...
Come on, Come on...
Come on, Come on...
It's suppertime...
Ah, suppertime...
[Seymour]
Lift up your head
Wash off your mascara
Here, take my Kleenex
Wipe that lipstick away
Show me your face, clean as the mornin'
I know things were bad, but now they're okay
Suddenly Seymour is standin' beside you
You don't need no makeup, don't have to pretend
Suddenly Seymour is here to provide you
Sweet understanding
Seymour's your friend
[Audrey]
Nobody ever treated me kindly
Daddy left early
Mama was poor
I'd meet a man and I'd follow him blindly
He'd snap his fingers
Me, I'd say "sure."
Suddenly Seymour is standin' beside me
He don't give me orders
He don't condescend
Suddenly Seymour is here to provide me
Sweet understanding
Seymour's my friend
[Seymour]
Tell me this feelin'll last till forever
Tell me the bad times are clean washed away
[Audrey]
Please understand that it's still strange and fright'nin'
For losers like I've been it's so hard to say
[Audrey]
Suddenly Seymour,
He purified me
Suddenly Seymour
He showed me I can
Learn how to be more
The girl that's inside me
With sweet understanding,
With sweet understanding,
With sweet understanding,
Seymour's my man!
[Seymour, Audrey and Company]
Suddenly Seymour,
He purified you
Suddenly Seymour
Yes, you can
Learn how to be more
The girl that's inside you
With sweet understanding,
With sweet understanding,
With sweet understanding,

CHORUS
Ahh ahh ahh
Ahh ahh ahh
I know Seymour's the greatest,
But I'm dating a semi-sadist.
So I got a black eye,
and my arm's in a cast.
Still that Semour's a cutie.
Well, if not, he's got inner beauty.
And I dream of a place,
Where we can be together, at last.
A matchbox of our own.
A fence of real chainlink.
A grill out on the patio.
Disposal in the sink.
A washer and a dryer,
And an ironing-machine.
In a tract house that we share,
Somewhere that's green.
He rakes and trims the grass.
He loves to mow and weed.
I cook like Betty Crocker,
And I look like Donna Reed.
There's plastic on the furniture
To keep it neat and clean.
In the Pine-Sol scented air,
Somewhere that's green.
Between our frozen dinner,
and our bed-time nine-fifteen.
We snuggle watching Lucy,
On a big, enormous, twelve-inch screen.
Oh, his December bride,
He's father, he knows best.
The kids play Howdy-Doody,
As the Sun sets in the West.
A picture out of Better Homes
And Gardens magzine.
Far from Skid Row,
I dream we'll go...
[Belle:] There's something sweet
And almost kind
But he was mean and he was coarse and unrefined
And now he's dear
And so I'm sure
I wonder why I didn't see it there before
[Beast:] She glanced this way
I thought I saw
And when we touched she didn't shudder at my paw
No it can't be
I'll just ignore
But then she's never looked at me that way before
[Belle:] New and a bit alarming
Who'd have ever thought that this could be?
True that he's no Prince Charming
But there's something in him that I simply didn't see
[Lumiere:] Well, who'd have thought?
[Mrs Potts:] Well, bless my soul
[Cogsworth:] Well, who'd have known?
[Mrs Potts:] Well, who indeed?
[Lumiere:] And who'd have guessed they'd come together on their own?
[Mrs Potts:] It's so peculiar. Wait and see
[Lumiere and Cogsworth:] We'll wait and see
[All three:] A few days more
There may be something there that wasn't there before
[Cogsworth:] You know, perhaps there's something there that wasn't
there before
Someday
When we are wiser
When the world's older
When we have learned
I pray
Someday we may yet live
To live and let live
Someday
Life will be fairer
Need will be rarer
And greed will not pay
God speed
This bright millennium
On its way
Let it come
Someday
Someday
Our fight will be won then
We'll stand in the sun then
That bright afternoon
'Till then
On days when the sun is gone
We'll hang on
If we wish upon the moon
There are some days dark and bitter
Seems we haven't got a prayer
But a prayer for something better
Is the one thing we all share
Someday
When we are wiser
When the whole world is older
When we have learned
I pray
Someday we may yet live
To live and let live
One day, someday
Someday
Life will be fairer
Need will be rarer
Greed will not pay
God speed
This bright millennium
Let it come
If we wish upon the moon
One day
Someday
Soon
One day
Someday
Poor Seymour pushed a broom.
Nothing in his news but gloom and doom.
Then, he lit a fuse and, give him room,
He started an explosion. Holy cow!
That thing went Bang! Kaboom!
And he's havin' some fun now.
Some fun now.
Pop Quiz!
What's he havin'? Some fun now.
Sure Is!
He's a havin' some fun now.
Oh Boy!
Ain't he havin' some fun now!
Now!
Some fun now.
Hot Damn!
Ain't he havin' some fun now?

Alarm goes off at seven
and you start up-town.
You put in your eight hours
for the powers
that have always been.
(Sing it child)
'Til it's five-pm...
"Then you go..."
Downtown
Where the folks are broke. You go
Downtown
Where your life's a joke. You go
Downtown
Where you buy a token. You go...
Home to Skid Row.
"Yes you go..."
Downtown
Where the cabs don't stop.
Downtown
Where the food is slop.
Downtown
Where the hop-heads flop in the snow...
Down on Skid Row.
Uptown you cater to a million jerks.
Uptown you're messengers and mailroom clerks.
Eating all your lunches at the hot-dog carts.
The bosses take your money and they break your hearts.
And Uptown you cater to a million whores.
You disinfect terrazzo on their bathroom floors.
The jobs are really menial you make no bread.
And then at five-o'clock you head
"By subway..."
Downtown
Where the guys are drips.
Downtown
Where they rip your slips.
Downtown
Where relationships are no go.
Down on Skid Row.
Poor, all my life I've always been poor.
I keep askin' God what I'm for.
And he tells me, "Gee, I'm not sure."
"Sweep that floor, kid!"
Oh! I started life as an orphan,
A child of the street, here on Skid
Row! He took me in gave me shelter
A bed, crust of bread and a job.
Treats me like dirt and calls me a slob,
Which I am...
So I live
Downtown
That's your home address, you live
Downtown
When your life's a mess, you live
Downtown
Where depression's just status quo.
Down on Skid Row.
Someone show me a way to get outta here.
'Cause I constantly pray I'll get outta here.
Please won't somebody say I'll get outta here.
Someone gimmie my shot, or I'll rot here!
(Downtown)
Show me how and I will, I'll get outta here.
(There's no rules for us)
(Downtown)
I'll start climbin' up hill and get outta here.
('Cause it's dangerous)
(Downtown)
Someone tell me I still could get outta here.
(Where there rainbow just doesn't show)
Someone tell lady luck that I'm stuck here!
(When you get...)
(Downtown)
Gee it sure would be swell to get outta here.
Bid the gutter farewell and get outta here.
I'd move heaven and hell to get outta Skid.
I'd do I don't know what to get outta Skid.
But a hell of a lot to get outta Skid.
People tell me there's not a way outta Skid.
But believe me I gotta get outta Skid
I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride
A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming
A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
It's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world with you
Now I'm in a whole new world with you
Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky
A whole new world
Don't you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things to see
Hold your breath - it gets better
I'm like a shooting star
I've come so far
I can't go back to where I used to be
A whole new world
Every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue
Every moment red-letter
I'll chase them anywhere
There's time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you
A whole new world
That's where we'll be
A thrilling chase
A wondrous place
For you and me
ALLANA
I’m talking about Ariel, that’s who!
ADELLA
What about her?
ALLANA
She sure is acting fishy lately!
AQUATA
I’ll say! Swimming in circles! Chasing her tail!
ALLANA
That girl is up to her gills in something!
She’s dizzy and she’s dreamy
AQUATA
Her head’s up in the foam
ATINA
Her eyes have gone all gleamy
It’s like there’s no one home
ALLANA, AQUATA & ATINA
She floats away the days
Mopin’ on the coastal shelf
ANDRINA
You ask her where she’s goin’
She giggles like a fool
ADELLA
She barely sticks a toe in
Down at the tidal pool
ARISTA
It’s more than just a phase
Face it, she’s just not herself
AQUATA
Is she ill?
ATINA
Or insane?
ALLANA
Is it water on the brain?
AQUATA, ATINA, & ALLANA
What has got her bothered so?
ANDRINA
It’s the bends!
ADELLA
It’s the flu!
ARISTA
Gosh, I wish we had a clue!
MERSISTERS
Oh, wait! Oh, dear!
Good grief! It’s clear...
She’s in love!
She’s in love!
Pounding heart! Ringing bells!
ALLANA
Look, I think she’s even wearing brand new shells!
ANDRINA, ARISTA & ADELLA
She’s in love!
AQUATA, ATINA & ALLANA
In love and it’s divine!
ANDRINA, ARISTA & ADELLA
She’s in love!
AQUATA, ATINA & ALLANA
That girl’s on sandbar nine!
ANDRINA, ARISTA & ADELLA
Glory be!
MERSISTERS
Lord above!
Gotta be she’s in love!
ARISTA
Hey, Flounder – d’ya notice anything weird about you-know-who?
FLOUNDER
You mean Ariel? I’ll say!
She acts like she don’t see me
She doesn’t even speak
She treats me like sashimi
Left over from last week
You see her late at night
Tossin’ in her ocean bed
MERSISTERS
Shoop, shoop
Shoop, shoop…
FLOUNDER
She’s moody as a snapper
Oblivious as rocks
You swim right up and tap her—
FLOUNDER & MERSISTERS
She lays there like a lox!
As sure as dogfish bite
Somethin’s made her lose her head!
MERSISTERS
She has lost her head!
FLOUNDER
And she sighs, and she swoons
And she’s hummin’ little tunes
MERSISTERS
Even has a sorta glow
FLOUNDER
What on earth could it be?
MERSISTERS
Any hammerhead can see!
AQUATA & ADELLA
That sigh!
ARISTA & ALLANA
That glow!
ANDRINA & ATINA
That swoon!
FLOUNDER
Oh, no!
She’s in love!
MERSISTERS
She’s flipped, it never fails!
FLOUNDER
She’s in love!
MERSISTERS
All hot beneath her scales!
FLOUNDER
See her hips
How they swish!
MERSISTERS
Well, well, well
Don’t you wonder who’s the lucky seafood dish?
FLOUNDER
She’s in love!
MERSISTERS
She found a deep-sea hunk!
FLOUNDER
She’s in love!
MERSISTERS
And now she’s as good as sunk!
FLOUNDER
See her blush!
MERSISTERS & FLOUNDER
See her grin!
Gotta be love she’s in!
FLOUNDER
Ariel-and-someone swimmin’ in the sea!
K-i-s-s-i-n-g!
MERSISTERS
Her cheeks could not flush pinker!
FLOUNDER
It’s clear as h2o!
MERSISTERS
She’s caught – hook, line and sinker!
ANDRINA, ARISTA & ATINA
Crushed out!
AQUATA, ADELLA & ALLANA
Switched on!
AQUATA, ANDRINA, ARISTA & ALLANA
Worked up!
Far gone!
FLOUNDER
Knocked down!
MERSISTERS
Hard hit!
FLOUNDER
In deep!
MERSISTERS
That’s it!
She’s in love!
She’s in love!
FLOUNDER
She’s in love!
FLOUNDER & MERSISTERS
She’s in love!
She’s in love!
Plain to see!
No mistake!
Look at those moonbeams in her wake!
Obvious what they must be symptoms of—
She’s in love!
She’s in love!
She’s in love!
Shoop, shoop
She’s in love!
David:
Open the gates and seize the day
Don't be afraid and don't delay
Nothing can break us
No one can make us
Give our rights away
Arise and seize the day
David and Newsies:
Now is the time to seize the day
Send out the call and join the fray
David:
Wrongs will be righted
If we're united
David and Newsies:
Let us seize the day
Friends of the friendless, seize the day
Raise up the torch and light the way
Proud and defiant
We'll slay the giant
Let us seize the day
Neighbor to neighbor
Father to son
One for all and all for one
Open the gates and seize the day
Don't be afraid and don't delay
Nothing can break us
No one can make us
Give our rights away
Neighbor to neighbor
Father to son
[Pocahontas]
Is there nothing I can do?
Will this really be the end?
Is it only death that waits
Just around the riverbend?
[Ratcliffe]
This will be the day ...
(Let's go men!)
[Powhatan]
This will be the morning ...
(Bring out the prisoner)
[English Settlers and Native Americans]
We will see them dying in the dust
[Pocahontas]
I don't know what I can do
Still, I know I've got to try
[English Settlers]
Now we make 'em pay
[Pocahontas]
Eagle, help my feet to fly
[Native Americans]
Now without a warning ...
[Pocahontas]
Mountain, help my heart be great
[English Settlers and Native Americans]
Now we leave 'em blood and bone and rust
[Pocahontas]
Spirits of the earth and sky ...
[English Settlers and Native Americans]
It's them or us
[Pocahontas]
Please don't let it be to late ...
[English Settlers and Native Americans]
They're just a bunch of
Filthy, stinking
[English Settlers]
Savages!
[Native Americans]
Savages!
[English Settlers]
Demons!
[Native Americans]
Devils!
[Ratcliffe]
Kill them!
[Native Americans]
Savages!
[English Settlers]
Savages!
[Ratcliffe]
What are we waiting for?
[All]
Destroy their evil race
Until there's not a trace left
[Pocahontas]
How loud are the drums of war
[English Settlers and Native Americans]
We will sound the drums of war
(Savages! Savages!)
Now, we sound the drums of war
(Savages! Savages!)
[Ratcliffe]
Now we see what comes
Of trying to be chums
[Native Americans]
Now we sound the drums ... of ... war!
[English Settlers]
Of course it means the drums ... of ... war!
[Pocahontas]
Is the death of all I love
[Ratcliffe]
What can you expect
From filthy little heathens?
Their whole disgusting race is like a curse
Their skin's a hellish red
They're only good when dead
They're vermin, as I said
And worse
[English Settlers]
They're savages! Savages!
[Ratcliffe]
Barely even human
[English Settlers]
Savages! Savages!
[Ratcliffe]
Drive them from our shore!
They're not like you and me
Which means they must be evil
We must sound the drums of war!
[English Settlers]
They're savages! Savages!
Dirty redskin devils!
Now we sound the drums of war!
[Powhatan]
This is what we feared
The paleface is a demon
The only thing they feel at all is greed
[Kekata]
Beneath that milky hide
There's emptiness inside
[Native Americans]
I wonder if they even bleed
They're savages! Savages!
Barely even human
Savages! Savages!
[Powhatan]
Killers at the core
[Kekata]
They're different from us
Which means they can't be trusted
[Powhatan]
We must sound the drums of war
[Native Americans]
They're savages! Savages!
First we deal with this one
[All]
Then we sound the drums of war
[English Settlers]
Savages! Savages!
[Ben]
Let's go kill a few, men!
[Native Americans]
Savages! Savages!
[Ratcliffe]
Now it's up to you, men!
[All]
Savages! Savages!
Barely even human!
JACK:
So that's what they call a family
Mother, daughter, father, son
Guess that everything you heard about is true
So you ain't got any family
Well who said you needed one?
Ain't you glad nobody's waiting up for you?
When I dream
On my own
I'm alone but I ain't lonely
For a dreamer night's the only time of day
When the city's finally sleeping
All my thoughts begin to stray
And I'm on the train
That's bound for Santa Fe
And I'm free
Like the wind
Like I'm gonna live forever
It's a feeling time can never take away!
All I need's a few more dollars
And I'm outta here to stay
Dreams come true
Yes they do
In Santa Fe
Where does it say you gotta live and die here?
Where does it say a guy can't catch a break?
Why should you only take what you're given
Why should you spend your whole life livin'
Trapped where there ain't no future
Even at seventeen
Breaking your back for someone else's sake
If the life don't seem to suit ya
How about a change of scene?
Far from the lousy headlines
And the deadlines in between
Santa Fe
Are you there?
Do you swear you won't forget me?
If I found you would you let me
Come and stay?
I ain't getting any younger
And before my dying day
I want space
Not just air
Let 'em laugh in my face
I don't care
Save a place
I'll be there
So that's what they call a family
Ain't you glad you ain't that way?
Ain't you glad you got a dream called
Narattor:
Once upon a time, in a faraway land,
A young Prince lived in a shining castle.
Although he had everything his heart desired,
The Prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind.
But then, one winter's night,
An old beggar woman came to the castle
And offered him a single Rose
In return for shelter from the bitter cold.
Repulsed by her haggard appearance,
The Prince sneered at the gift,
And turned the old woman away.
But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances,
For Beauty is found within.
And when he dismissed her again,
The old woman's ugliness melted away
To reveal a beautiful Enchantress.
The Prince tried to apologize, but it was too late,
For she had seen that there was no love in his heart.
And as punishment,
She transformed him into a hideous beast,
And placed a powerful spell on the castle,
And all who lived there.
Ashamed of his monstrous form,
The beast concealed himself inside his castle,
With a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.
The Rose she had offered,
Was truly an enchanted rose,
Which would bloom for many years.
If he could learn to love another,
And earn her love in return
By the time the last petal fell,
Then the spell would be broken.
If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast
For all time.
As the years passed,
He fell into despair, and lost all hope,
Make way for Prince Ali
Say hey! It's Prince Ali
Hey! Clear the way in the old Bazaar
Hey you!
Let us through!
It's a bright new star!
Oh Come!
Be the first on your block to meet his eye!
Make way!
Here he comes!
Ring bells! Bang the drums!
Are you gonna love this guy!
Prince Ali! Fabulous he!
Ali Ababwa
Genuflect, shom some respect
Down on one knee!
Now, try your best to stay calm
Brush up your sunday salaam
The come and meet his spectacular coterie
Prince Ali!
Mighty is he!
Ali Ababwa
Strong as ten regular men, definitely!
He faced the galloping hordes
A hundred bad guys with swords
Who sent those goons to their lords?
Why, Prince Ali
He's got seventy-five golden camels
Purple peacocks
He's got fifty-three
When it comes to exotic-type mammals
Has he got a zoo?
I'm telling you, it's a world-class menagerie
Prince Ali! Handsome is he, Ali Ababwa
That physique! How can I speak
Weak at the knee
Well, get on out in that square
Adjust your vein and prepare
To gawk and grovel and stare at Prince Ali!
There's no question this Ali's alluring
Never ordinary, never boring
Everything about the man just plain impresses
He's a winner, he's a whiz, a wonder!
He's about to pull my heart asunder!
And I absolutely love the way he dresses!
He's got ninety-five white Persian monkeys
(He's got the monkeys, let's see the monkeys)
And to view them he charges no fee
(He's generous, so generous)
He's got slaves, he's got servants and flunkies
(Proud to work for him)
They bow to his whim love serving him
They're just lousy with loyalty to Ali! Prince Ali!
Prince Ali!
Amorous he! Ali Ababwa
Heard your princess was a sight lovely to see
And that, good people, is why he got dolled up and dropped by
With sixty elephants, llamas galore
With his bears and lions
A brass band and more
With his forty fakirs, his cooks, his bakers
His birds that warble on key
SCUTTLE
(spoken)
What's this? You giving up so soon? You gotta have a little gumption. Yeah!
A can-do kinda attitude. Take it from a gull who knows
(sung)
Now look at me
You see this face
In terms of beauty I'm a basket case
And as for style and savoir faire
Well I guess there ain’t
A whole lot there
Yup, although perhaps
It makes no sense
I strut my stuff
With lots of confidence
Cause though I lack
And awful lot
There is one thing I got!
I got positoovity!
I got positoovity!
It gives me the zam
And the zow
And the yaddle laddle laddle
That’s why I walk
With a wiggle in my waddle
Cause once you’ve heard that word
There aint nothing you can do
So let that positoovity
Work for you
SEBASTIAN
(spoken)
Positoovity? Why der's no such word.
SCUTTLE
(spoken)
Course there is in the dictionary right between popsuckle and prehysterical.
Believe you me I seen it work miracles!
(sung)
Now he's a shmoe
SEAGULL
SCUTTLE
And he's a shlep
SEAGULL
Yeah?
SCUTTLE
And this one doesn’t
got the sharpest rep
SEAGULL
Squawk?
SCUTTLE
In fact all three
without a doubt
Mister David brains
were handed out
SEAGULL
But if he's no sage
SEAGULL
And he's no wiz
SEAGULLS
The whole world thinks
That we are geniuses
Cause all our screws
May be unscrewed
But dig our attitude
SCUTTLE AND SEAGULLS
We got positricity!
SCUTTLE
(spoken)
How 'bout you, huh?
SCUTTLE AND SEAGULLS
We got poositivity!
SCUTTLE
(spoken)
Just try it out, come on!
SEAGULL
It gives us the bing
SEAGULL
And the bang
SCUTTLE
And the yippee-dip-doodle
SCUTTLE AND SEAGULLS
That’s why we sounds
Like thers knowledge
In our noodle
And once you learned that word
There ain’t nothing you can do
So let that positricity
SCUTTLE
N-N-No, Positroocity!
SEAGULLS
Poositrocity
Work for you!
SEBASTIAN
(spoken)
Ariel, don't take advice from birdbrains.
SCUTTLE
Birdbrains! Who you callin' birdbrains!
We got natural talent, what i like to call Gull-ability!
SCUTTLE AND SEAGULLS
So with the vip and the vap
And the ba-ba boo
You can flip any flap
Till your wish comes true
The tip is the tap
Into something that you believe
SCUTTLE
Cause with the zig and the zug
And the zig-zug-zing
There aint nothing you cant be
You see its really your perogative
SCUTTLE AND SEAGULLS
You simply cant think nogative
SCUTTLE
Then there’s you just sitting there
Smack down flat upon your dairy air, Hey!
If thast the way you wanna be
Well you might as well be shrubbery
So stand right up, and dust your seat
And walk real tall upon
Your own two feet
And sure you’ll trip
And make mistakes
But you’ve got what it takes!
(tap break)
SEAGULL
You go, gull!
SCUTTLE AND SEAGULLS
And now you know that word
There ain’t nothing you cant do
SCUTTLE
So go get some posilicity
You can bet on positricity
And just let that positrinity
No, positroonity. Poositonity?
Is it? Pardon, hat is it!
SEAGULLS
Positoovity!
SCUTTLE AND SEAGULLS
ARIEL
(Maybe he's right. Maybe there is something the matter with me.
I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.)
Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs?
I've got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see them dancin'
Walking around on those - what do you call 'em?
Oh - feet!
Flippin' your fins, you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a - what's that word again?
Street
Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free - wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet'cha on land they understand
That they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women sick of swimmin'
Ready to stand
And ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions and get some answers
What's a fire and why does it - what's the word?
Burn?
When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love, love to explore that world up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
The world is cruel, the world is wicked
It's I alone whom you can trust in this whole city
I am your only friend
I who keep you, teach you, feed you, dress you
I who look upon you without fear
How can I protect you, boy, unless you
Always stay in here, away in here
Remember what I've taught you, Quasimodo
You are deformed, I am deformed
And you are ugly, and I am ugly
And these are crimes for which the world shows little pity
You do not comprehend, you are my one defender
Out there they'll revile you as a monster
I am a monster out there they will hate
And scorn and jeer, only a monster
Why invite their calumny and consternation?
Stay in here
Be faithful to me, I'm faithful
Grateful to me, I'm grateful
Do as I say, obey
And stay in here
Safe behind these windows and these parapets of stone
Gazing at the people down below me
All my life I watch them as I hide up here alone
Hungry for the histories they'd shown me
All my life I memorize their faces
Knowing them as they will never know me
All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day
Not above them but part of them
And out there living in the sun
Give me one day out there
All I ask is one to hold forever
Out there where they all live unaware
What I'd give, what I'd dare
Just to live one day out there
Out there among the millers and the weavers and their wives
Through the roofs and gables I can see them
Every day they shout and scold and go about their lives
Heedless of the gift it is to be them
If I was in their skin, I'd treasure every instant
Out there strolling by the Seine
Taste a morning out there like ordinary men
Who freely walk about there just one day and then
I swear I'll be content with my share
Won't resent, won't despair, old and bent I won't care
ERIC
(spoken)
Who needs words? Dancing beats small talk any day.
It's the way your feet smile, or laugh. It lets you say so many things.
(sung)
Dancing is a language
That is felt instead of heard
You can whisper, sing, or shout
Without so much as a word
(spoken)
Try it, go on.
(sung)
Like so!
Just let your emotions
Tell your body what to do
See how much a single
Gesture can reveal
And every little step
Every single step
Is one step closer
To saying what you feel
Once the music hits you
And ambitions fall away
And you find that you're
Expressing things your
Voice daren't say
Don't be afraid. Let go!
Soon as you surrender
What's inside will sweep on through
As the boundaries raised
Between us disappears
And every little step
Every single step
Is one step closer
To talking loud and clear
A dance is like a conversation
Except you never need to make a sound
And once you've begun
You speak as one, give and take
Back and forth
Round and round!
(dance break)
A dance is like a conversation
Except your lips don't
Ever need to part
And once you've begun
You'll speak as one
Cheek to cheek
Toe to Toe
Heart to Heart
Dancing is a language
That is felt instead of heard
But it says much more
Than language ever could
And every little step
Every single step
Is one step closer
One step closer
One step closer
So, ya wanna be a hero, kid? Well, whoop de do
I have been around the block before with blockheads just like you
Each and everyone, a disappointment
Pain for which there ain't no ointment
So much fo excuses though a kid of Zeus' is
Asking me to jump into the fray
My answer is two words, okay, you win, oh God, oy vay
I'd given up hope that someone would come along
A fellow who'd ring the bell for once, not the gong
The kind who wins trophies, won't settle for low fees
At least semi-pro fees but no, I get the green horn
I've been out to pasture pal, my ambition gone
Content to spend lazy days and to graze my lawn
But you need an advisor, a satyr but wiser
A good merchandiser and oh, there goes my ulcer
I'm down to one last hope and I hope it's you
Though kid, you're not exactly a dream come true
I've trained enough turkeys who never came through
You're my one last hope, so you'll have to do
Demigods have faced the odds and ended up a mockery
Don't believe the stories that you read on all the crockery
To be a true hero kid is a dying art
Like painting a masterpiece, it's a work of heart
It takes more than sinew, comes down to what's in you
You have to continue to grow
Now that's more like it, I'm down to one last shot
And my last high note, before that blasted underworld gets my goat
My dreams are on you, kid go make them come true
Climb that uphill slope, keep pushing that envelope
Gotta keep
One jump ahead of the bread line
one swing ahead of the sword
i steal only what i can't afford
thats everything
One jump ahead of the lawmen
That's all, and that's no joke
These guys don't appreciate I'm broke
[Crowd:] Riffraff! Street rat! Scoundrel! Take that!
[Aladdin:] Just a little snack, guys
[Crowd:] Rip him open, take it back, guys
[Aladdin:] I can take a hint, gotta face the facts
You're my only friend, Abu!
[Crowd:] Who?
[Ladies:] Oh it's sad Aladdin's hit the bottom
He's become a one-man rise in crime
I'd blame parents except he hasn't got 'em
[Aladdin:] Gotta eat to live, gotta steal to eat
Tell you all about it when I got the time!
One jump ahead of the slowpokes
One skip ahead of my doom
Next time gonna use a nom de plume
One jump ahead of the hitmen
One hit ahead of the flock
I think I'll take a stroll around the block
[Crowd:] Stop, thief! Vandal! Outrage! Scandal!
[Aladdin:] Let's not be too hasty
[Lady:] Still I think he's rather tasty
[Aladdin:] Gotta eat to live, gotta steal to eat
Otherwise we'd get along
[Crowd:] Wrong!
[Aladdin:] One jump ahead of the hoofbeats
(Vandal!)
One hop ahead of the hump
(Street rat!)
One trick ahead of disaster
(Scoundrel!)
They're quick, but I'm much faster
(Take that!)
Here goes, better throw my hand in
Wish me happy landin'
All I gotta do is jump
One Jump Ahead (Reprise)
Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Tim Rice
[Aladdin:] Riffraff, street rat
I don't buy that
If only they'd look closer
Would they see a poor boy? No, siree
They'd find out
Denton:
This is the story you wanted to write
Well, tonight is the night that you can
Jack:
Just get this done and by dawn's early light
You can finish the fight you began
David:
This time we're in it to stay
Sarah:
Think about seizing the day
Jack:
Think of that train
As she rolls into old
Santa Fe ...
Tell 'em I'm on my way.
Newsies:
See old man Pulitzer snug in his bed
He don't care if we're dead or alive
Three satin pillows are under his head
While we're begging for bread to survive
Joe, if you're still counting sheep
Wake up and read 'em and weep!
You got your thugs with their sticks and their slugs
Yeah, but we got a promise to keep!
Once and for all
Something tells me the tide will be turning
Once and for all
There's a fire inside me that won't stop burning
Now that the choices are clear
Now that tomorrow is hear
Watch how the mighty will fall
For once and for all!
This is for kids shining shoes on the street
With no shoes on their feet every day
This is for guys sweating blood in the shops
While the bosses and cops look away
This is to even the score
This ain't just newsies no more
This ain't just kids with some pie in the sky
This is do it or die
This is war!
Once and for all
We'll be there to defend one another
Once and for all
Every kid is our friend
Every friend, a brother
Five thousand fists in the sky!
Five thousand reasons to try!
We're going over the wall
Better to die than to crawl
Either we stand or we fall
Belle:
Papa, do you think I'm...odd?
Maurice:
My daughter odd? Where did you get an idea like that?
Belle:
I don't know. It's just that, well, people talk.
Maurice:
They talk about me, too.
Maurice:
No, we're not odd, its true
No fam'ly ever saner
Except one uncle who...well, maybe let that pass
In all you say or do
You couldn't make it plainer
You are your mother's daughter; therefore you are class
Belle:
So I should just accept
I'm simply not like them
Maurice:
They are the common herd
And you should take my word
You are unique: creme de la creme
No matter what you do
I'm on your side
And if my point of view
Is somewhat misty-eyed
There's nothing clearer in my life
Than what I wish and feel for you
And that's a lot...
No matter what
Belle:
No matter what they say
You make me proud
I love the funny way
You stand out from the crowd
Maurice:
It's my intention my invention
Shows the world out there one day
Just what we've got...
Belle:
No matter what
Maurice:
Now some may say all fathers just exaggerate
Belle:
That ev'ry daughter's great?
Maurice:
You are!
Belle:
And ev'ry daughter tends to say her father's tops
Maurice:
She pulls out all the stops
To praise him
Belle:
And quite rightly!
Maurice:
No matter what the pain
We've come this far
I pray that you remain
Exactly as you are
This really is a case of father knowing best
Belle:
And daughter too!
Maurice:
You're never strange
Belle:
Don't ever change
Both:
You've all I've got
[Ratcliffe]
The gold of Corts
The jewels of Pizarro
Will seem like mere trinkets
By this time tomorrow
The gold we find here
Will dwarf them by far
Oh, with all ya got in ya, boys
Dig up Virginia, boys
Mine, boys, mine ev'ry mountain
And dig, boys, dig 'til ya drop
Grab a pick, boys
Quick, boys
Shove in a shovel
Uncover those lovely
Pebbles that sparkle and shine
It's gold and it's mine, mine, mine
English Settlers
Dig and dig and dig and diggety ...
Dig and dig and dig and diggety ...
Wiggins
Hey nonny nonny
Ho nonny nonny
Ratcliffe
Oh, how I love it!
Riches for Cheap!
Wiggins
There'll be heaps of it ...
Ratcliffe
And I'll be on top of the heap!
My rivals back home
It's not that I'm bitter
But think how they'll squirm
When they see how I glitter!
The ladies at court
Will be all a-twitter
The king will reward me
He'll knight me ... no, lord me!
It's mine, mine, mind
For the taking
It's mine, boys
Mine me that gold!
With those nuggets dug ...
It's glory they'll gimme
My dear friend, King Jimmy
Will probably build me a shrine
When all of the gold is mine
[English Settlers]
Dig and dig and dig and diggety
Dig and dig and dig and diggety-dig!
[Smith]
All of my life, I have searched for a land
Like this one
A wilder, more challenging country
I couldn't design
Hundreds of dangers await
And I don't plan to miss one
In a land I can claim
A land I can tame
The greatest adventure is mine!
[Ratcliffe]
Keep on working, lands
Don't be shirking, lands
Mine, boys, mind
Mine me that gold
Beautiful gold
[English Settlers]
Mine
Find a mother lode
Then find another load!
Dig! Dig! and diggety
Dig! Dig! for that gold
Make this island
My land!
[Ratcliffe]
Make the mounds big, boys
I'd help you to dig, boys
But I've got this crick in me spine
[Smith]
This land we behold ...
[Ratcliffe]
This beauty untold ...
[Smith]
A man can be bold!
It all can be sold!
[Ratcliffe]
And the gold
Is ...
Mine!
Mine!
Mine!
Mine!
[English Settlers]
So go for the gold
We know which is here
All the riches here
From this minute
This land and what's in it is
Mine!
[Ratcliffe]
Dig and dig and diggety-dig!
Better wait a minute.
Ya better hold the phone.
Ya better mind your manners.
Better change your tone.
Don't you threaten me son.
You got a lot of gall.
We gonna do things my way.
Or we won't do things at all.
Ya don't know what you're messin' with.
You got no idea.
Ya don't know what you're lookin' at
When you're lookin' here.
Ya don't know what you're up against,
No, no way, no how.
You don't know what you're messin' with,
But I'm gonna tell you now!
Get this straight!
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
and I'm bad.
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
and it looks like you been had.
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space,
So get off my back, 'n get out my face,
'Cause I'm mean and green
And I am bad.
Wanna save your skin boy?
You wanna save your hide?
You wanna see tomorrow? (Ha-Ha!)
You better step aside.
Better take a tip boy.
Want some good advice?
Ya better take it easy,
'Cause you're walkin' on thin ice.
Ya don't know what you're dealin' with.
No, you never did.
Ya don't know what you're lookin' at,
But that's tough titty, kid!
The Lion don't sleep tonight,
And if you pull his tail, he roars.
Ya say, "That ain't fair?"
Ya say, "That ain't nice?"
Ya know what I say? "Up yours!"
Watch me now!
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
And I'm bad.
I'm just a mean green mother, a real disgrace,
And you've got me violent and mad.
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space,
Gonna trash your ass! Gonna rock this place!
I'm mean and green,
And I am bad.
Don't talk to me about old King-Kong.
You think he's the worst? Well, you're thinkin' wrong.
Don't talk to me about Frankenstein.
He got a temper? -HA!- He ain't got mine.
You know I don't come from no black lagoon.
I'm from past the stars and beyond the moon.
You can keep the thing,
Keep the it,
Keep the creature, they don't mean shit!
I got garden style, major moves.
I got the stuff, and I think that proves,
You better move it out! Nature calls!
You got the point? I'm gonna bust your balls!
Here it comes!
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
And I'm bad.
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
A real hard case. You can't beat this trouble, man.
I'm just a mean green mother from outer space
So just give it up. It's all over, ace.
I'm mean and green.
(Mean green mother from outer space.)
I'm mean and green.
(Mean green mother from outer space.)
I'm mean and green.
(Mean green mother from outer space.)
Gaston:
You've been dreaming, just one dream
Nearly all your life
Hoping, scheming, just one theme:
Will you be a wife?
Will you be some he-man's property?
Good news! That he-man's me!
This equation, girl plus man
Doesn't help just you
On occasion, women can
Have their uses too
Mainly to extend the fam'ly tree
Pumpkin, extend with me!
Gaston:
We'll be raising sons galore
Belle:
Inconceivable!
Gaston:
Each built six foot four!
Belle:
Unbelievable!
Gaston:
Each stuffed with ev'ry Gaston gene!
Belle:
I'm not hearing this!
Gaston:
You'll be keeping house with pride!
Belle:
Just incredible!
Gaston:
Oh so gratified
Belle:
So unweddable!
Gaston:
That you are a part of this idyllic scene.
Gaston:
Picture this: A rustic hunting lodge,
my latest kill roasting over the fire,
my little wife massaging my feet, while
the little ones play on the floor with the dogs.
We'll have six or seven!
Belle:
Dogs?
Gaston:
No, Belle! Strapping boys...like me!
Belle:
Imagine that!
Gaston:
I can see that we will share
All that love implies
We shall be a perfect pair
Rather like my thighs
You are face to face with destiny!
All roads lead to...
The best things in life are...
All's well that ends with me!
Escape me? There's no way
Certain as "Do, Re,"
Belle, when you marry...
Gaston:
So Belle, what would it be?
Is it "yes", or is it "oh, yes"?
Belle:
I...I just don't deserve you!
Gaston:
Who does?
Narrator:
Long ago, in the far away land of ancient Greece
there was a golden age of powerful gods extraordinary heroes
and greatest and strongest of all these Heroes was the mighty Hercules.
But what is the measure of a true hero? Now, that is what our story ...
Muses:
Will you listen to him?
He's making the story sound like some Greek tragedy.
Lighten up, dude.
We'll take it from here, darling.
Narrator:
You go, girls ...
Muses:
We are the muses.
Goddesses of the arts
and proclaimers of heroes.
Heroes like Hercules.
Honey, you mean Hunkules!
I'd like to make some sweet music of it
Our story actually begins long before Hercules
Voice of the Wind:
Ay ay ay ya
Ay ay ya
Grandmother Willow:
Que que na-to-ra
You will understand
Listen with your heart
You will understand
Let it break upon you
Like a wave upon the sand
Listen with your heart
You will understand
Voice of the Wind
Les poissons, les poissons
How I love les poissons
Love to chop and to serve little fish
First I cut off their heads
Then I pull out the bones
Ah mais oui
Ca c'est toujours delish
Les poissons, les poissons
Hee hee hee, hah hah hah
With the cleaver I hack them in two
I pull out what's inside
And I serve it up fried
God, I love little fishes, don't you?
Here's something for tempting the palate
Prepared in the classic technique
First you pound the fish flat with a mallet
Then you slash through the skin
Gives the belly a slice
Then you rub some salt in
'Cause that makes it taste nice
Zut alors, I have missed one
Sacre bleu, what is this?
How on earth could I miss
Such a sweet little succulent crab?
Quel dommage, what a loss
Here we go in the sauce
Now some flour, I think just a dab
Now I stuff you with bread
It don't hurt 'cause you're dead
And you're certainly lucky, you are
'Cause it's gonna be hot
In my big silver pot
SEBASTIAN
(spoken)
You got to create the right kind of mood
SCUTTLE
(spoken)
Oh, You mean like candle light and champagne?
SEBASTIAN
(spoken)
Nonsense! It don't take all that. Everything we need we got right here.
Percussion!
Strings!
Winds!
And words...
(sung)
There you see her
Sitting there across the way.
SEBASTIAN AND SEA CREATURES
She don't got a lot to say
SEBASTIAN
But there's something about her.
SEA CREATURES
About her
SEBASTIAN
And you don't know why
But you're dying to try.
SEBASTIAN AND SEA CREATURES
You wanna Kiss The Girl.
Yes, you want her.
Look at her, you know you do.
SEBASTIAN
Possible she want you, too
There is one way to ask her
Kiss the girl...
WOMEN
Kiss the girl...
SEBASTIAN
It don't take a word
SEBASTIAN AND SEA CREATURES
Not a single word
SEBASTIAN
Go on and Kiss The Girl
Sing with me now!
SEBASTIAN
Sha la la la la la, my oh my
Look like the boy too shy
Ain't gonna Kiss The Girl
Sha la la la la la ain't that sad
Ain't it a shame, too bad
He gonna miss the girl
ERIC
(spoken)
You know, I really oughtta know your name.
Maybe I could guess. Alexandra? Annabelle? Beatrice?
SEBASTIAN
Ariel, her name is Ariel
ERIC
(spoken)
Ariel? Ariel!
Hey, that's kinda pretty.
Okay, Ariel...
SEBASTIAN AND SEA CREATURES
Now's your moment
Floating in a blue lagoon
SEBASTIAN AND MEN
Boy, you better do it soon
No time will be better
She don't say a word
And she won't say a word
Until you Kiss The Girl
SEBASTIAN
Sha la la la la la don't be scared
You got the mood prepared
Go on and Kiss The Girl
Sha la la la la la, don't stop now
Don't try to hide it how
You wanna Kiss The Girl
Sha la la la la la, float along
And listen to the song
SCUTTLE
Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah!
SEBASTIAN
The song say Kiss The Girl
Sha la la la la la the music play
Do what the music say
Go on and kiss The girl
Go on and kiss the girl
You gotta kiss the girl
Go on and kiss the girl
SEBASTIAN AND SEA CRATURES
Oh, go on and
Mush:
A pair of new shoes with matching laces
Racetrack:
A permanent box at Sheepshead Races
Spot Conlon:
A porcelain tub with boiling water
Kid Blink:
A Saturday night with the Mayor's daughter!
Racetrack:
Look at me
I'm the King of New York!
Suddenly
I'm respectable
Staring right atcha
Lousy with stature
Jack:
Nobbin' with all the muckety-mucks
I'm blowing my dough and going deluxe
Racetrack:
And there I'll be!
Ain't I pretty?
(with Jack)
It's my city
I'm the King of New York!

How about that?
I'm the King of New York
Newsies:

Racetrack:
Proud yet humble.
(with Denton) He's (I'm) the King of New York
Newsies:
I gotta be either dead or dreaming
'Cuz look at that pape with my face beaming
Tomorrow they may wrap fishes in it
But I was a star for one whole minute!
Starting now
I'm the King (of New York!)

Weasel? He's dying!
Flashpots are shooting bright as the sun
I'm one hifalutin' sonuva gun!
Don't ask me how
Fortune found me
Fate just crowned me

Now a striker
I'm the King of New (York)

What I love most about rivers is:
You can't step in the same river twice
The water's always changing, always flowing
But people, I guess, can't live like that
We all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What's around the riverbend
Waiting just around the riverbend
I look once more
Just around the riverbend
Beyond the shore
Where the gulls fly free
Don't know what for
What I dream the day might send
Jut around the riverbend
For me
Coming for me
I feel it there beyond those trees
Or right behind these waterfalls
Can I ignore that sound of distant drumming
For a handsome sturdy husband
Who builds handsome sturdy walls
And never dreams that something might be coming?
Just around the riverbend
Just around the riverbend
I look once more
Just around the riverbend
Beyond the shore
Somewhere past the sea
Don't know what for ...
Why do all my dreams extend
Just around the riverbend?
Just around the riverbend ...
Should I choose the smoothest curve
Steady as the beating drum?
Should I marry Kocoum?
Is all my dreaming at an end?
Or do you still wait for me, Dream Giver
If I never knew you
If I never felt this love
I would have no inkling of
How precious life can be
And if I never held you
I would never have a clue
How at last I'd find in you
The missing part of me.
In this world so full of fear
Full of rage and lies
I can see the truth so clear
In your eyes
So dry your eyes
And I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you
If I never knew you
I'd be safe but half as real
Never knowing I could feel
A love so strong and true
I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you
I thought our love would be so beautiful
Somehow we'd make the whole world bright
I never knew that fear and hate could be so strong
all they'd leave us were these whispers in the night
But still my heart is saying we were right
Oh if I never knew you
There's no moment I regret
If I never felt this love
Since the moment that we met
I would have no inkling of
If our time has gone too fast
How precious life can be...
I've lived at last...
I thought our love would be so beautiful
Somehow we'd make the whole world bright
I thought our love would be so beautiful
We'd turn the darkness into light
And still my heart is saying we were right
we were right
And if I never knew you
If I never knew you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Empty as the sky
Never knowing why
Lost forever
Beast:
And in my twisted face
There's not the slightest trace
Of anything that even hints of kindness
And from my tortured shape
No comfort, no escape
I see, but deep within is utter blindness
Hopeless
As my dream dies
As the time flies
Love a lost illusion
Helpless
Unforgiven
Cold and driven
To this sad conclusion
No beauty could move me
No goodness improve me
No power on earth, if I can't love her
No passion could reach me
No lesson could teach me
How I could have love her and made her love me too
If I can't love her, then who?
Long ago I should have seen
All the things I could have been
Careless and unthinking, I moved onward
No pain could be deeper
No life could be cheaper
No point anymore, if I can't love her
No spirit could win me
No hope left within me
Hope I could have loved her and that she'd set me free
But it's not to be
If I can't love her
URSULA
When Daddy dear was floating on his deathbed
He divvied up the kingdom into two
I got his magic shell
And half the sea as well
His trident went to—
You know who his trident went to – don’t you, babies!
My reign – why, it was blissfully delicious!
And glamour, glitz and style were au courante!
Did I use some black magic?
Well, oopsie— my bad!
Did I mutilate, maim and destroy?
Just a tad!
And for that, I get banished!
But me, I’m not mad
There’s just one little thing that I want...
Just one eensy teensy thing that I want:
I want the good times back!
I want those grand ol’ days!
I want the twisted nights
The sick delights
The wild soireés!
I want those trembling crowds of shellfish
Cracked and peeled for me to dine
Not because I’m mean or selfish—
FLOTSAM & JETSAM
URSULA
I only want what’s mine!
I want disgusting wealth!
I want exquisite sin!
Want the entire sea
To worship me
On bended fin!
I want to greet my loving subjects
And then have them as a snack!
Remember those good times?
I want them back!
Picture it, my sucklings. Pretty soon, we’ll be back on top! Sipping bubbly.
Eating caviar before it hatches!
King Triton is the only thing that stands in my way.
If only I can find his Achilles heel… the soft quivering underbelly beneath all that armor…
I’ll dethrone him!
De-bone him! And then boys… oh, boys… we’re back in business! All together now:
FLOTSAM, JETSAM & EELS
You’ll bring the good times back!
Resume your wacky fun!
Restore the joyful charm
Of causing harm
To everyone!
URSULA
I want to make the merfolk cower
Like they did in days of yore
Sure, it’s sheer abuse of power—
FLOTSAM, JETSAM & EELS
URSULA
Ain’t that what power’s for?
I want to taste their tears!
I want to hear their screams!
I want the special rush
You get from crushing
Hopes and dreams!
FLOTSAM, JETSAM & EELS
It’s more than simply sentimental—
Ursula
It’s an aphrodisiac!
FLOTSAM, JETSAM & EELS
Remember those good times!
URSULA
Oh god! Were they good times!
FLOTSAM, JETSAM & EELS
It’s time for more good times!
URSULA
Let’s get them back!
If only I had a way
To make him pay
I’d set ol’ Triton straight!
FLOTSAM
Poison?
JETSAM
Sure…
FLOTSAM
Blackmail?
JETSAM
FLOTSAM
His daughters…
JETSAM
Maybe—
URSULA
Wait!
Why didn’t we think of it before? His youngest!
FLOTSAM
The one with the beautiful voice?
URSULA
Which she takes for granted.
A woman doesn’t know how precious her voice is until she’s been silenced. Ha!
Perhaps we could teach them both a lesson…
I want the little girl!
FLOTSAM
Ooh.
URSULA
And boys, I want her bad!
JETSAM
Ahh.
URSULA
I want her sitting here
To lure her dear
Devoted dad!
FLOTSAM & JETSAM
Mmmm.
URSULA
I want my goody-goody brother
To come rescue her – the sap!
And then one way or another—
FLOTSAM & JETSAM
Surprise!
URSULA
I’ll spring the trap!
And get the good times back!
I mean with all the perks!
The trident, crown, the throne—
All mine alone!
The whole damn works!
But most of all, I want ol’ Triton
Pinned and wriggling on the rack
Then, fellas, it’s my time!
And frankly, it’s high time!
Those fabulous good times...
SCUTTLE
Wow – this is special… this is very, very unusual.
ARIEL
What? What is it?
SCUTTLE
It’s a dinglehopper!
ARIEL
A dinglehopper?
SCUTTLE
Oh, these babies are fantabulous. Absolutely indispensary.
When it comes to dinglehoppers, I’m a regular encyclopoodia!
Say thatcha wanna have a hairdo
Like the folks who live up there do
That’ll flap their wigs!
GULL 1
Flop their wigs!
GULL 2
Flap!
GULL 3
Awwwk!
SCUTTLE
Well, you’ll look absolutely dandy
If you use one of these handy
Little thingmajigs!
GULL 1
Thingmabobs.
GULL 2
Jigs!
GULL 1
Bobs!
GULL 3
Awwwk!
SCUTTLE
Pick up the dinglehopper, just like so
Twirl it the way I’m twirling now! Give it a little yank, and there ya go!
You’re what they call “the dog’s meow”!
GULLS
Wonderful stuff!
GULL 3
Awwwk!
GULLS
That human stuff! Can’t get enough—
GULL 3
Awwwk!
GULLS
Of human stuff! And we are the authority—
No need for us to bluff!
Because we’re great at explanatin' Human stuff!
ARIEL
(holds a pipe) What’s that?
SCUTTLE
A snarfblatt!
ARIEL
Wow!
SCUTTLE
Back when the world was prehistoral, People sat as still as coral. Flat upon their bumps
GULL 1
On their runts!
GULL 2
Bunks!
GULL 3
Awwwk!
SCUTTLE
There they would be, not even thinkin’
Bored to death and barely blinkin’
Way down at the dumps
GULL 1
On the dumps!
GULL 2
GULL 1
GULL 3
Awwwk!
SCUTTLE
Then they invented snarfblatts, just by chance.
Suddenly life was la-di-da! Snarfblatts’re what you use to
make folks dance!
Give it a blow, and then – voilà!
GULLS
Wonderful stuff!
GULL 3
Awwwk!
GULLS
That human stuff! If you’re a buff—
GULL 3
Awwwk!
GULLS
Of human stuff!
GULL 1
It’s marvable!
GULL 2
Stupendiful!
SCUTTLE
Completely A-OJ!
Which sounds absurd, but take my word—
SCUTTLE & GULLS
That’s what the humans say!
Sensible stuff
That human stuff!
None of it fluff—
Not human stuff!
And heaven knows
Since we’re the pros
From us, you’ll get no guff
SCUTTLE
And once you’ve got your who’s-ma-gig—
GULL 1
A thinga-ma-what—
GULL 2
A whatch-ma-gig—
SCUTTLE
That’s all you need to bring you up to snuff!
GULLS
Right up to snuff!
With proper dinglehopper groomin’
Rest assured... you’ll look real human!
SCUTTLE, GULLS & ARIEL
We know, ‘cause we know
"Ha ha, we, my friends, the day we have waited for may be at hand"
"Oh, if only that were true, Lumiere"
"Aah, human again"
"Human again"
"Yes, think what that means"
I'll be cooking again, be good-looking again
With a mademoiselle on each arm
When I'm human again, only human again
Poised and polished and gleaming with charm
I'll be courting again, chic and sporting again
Which should cause several husband's alarm
I'll hop down off the shelf and toute suite be myself
I can't wait to be human again
When we're human again, only human again
When we're knickknacks and whatnot's no more
Little push, little shove, they could, whoosh fall in love
Ah, Cherie, won't it all be top-drawer?
I'll wear lipstick and rouge and I won't be so huge
Why, I'll easily fit through that door
I'll exude savior-faire, I'll wear gowns, I'll have hair
It's my prayer to be human again
When I'm human again, only human again
When the world once more starts making sense
I'll unwind for a change, really? That'd be strange
Can I help it if I'm t-t-tense?
In a shack by the sea, I'll sit back sipping tea
Let my early retirement commence
Far from fools made of wax, I'll get down to brass tacks and relax
When I'm human again
So sweep the dust from the floor
Let's let some light in the room
I can feel, I can tell
Someone might break the spell any day now
Shine up the brass on the door
Alert the dustpail and broom
If we all goes as planned
Our time may be at hand any day now
Open the shutters and let in some air
Put these here and put those over there
Sweep up the years of sadness and tears
And throw them away
When Guinevere heard that Arthur was slain
She stole away to a convent
And no one could ever make her smile again
The end
"What a beautiful story!"
"Oh, I knew you would like it"
"I would like to ask you for something"
"What's that?"
"A second chance"
"Would you have dinner with me tonight?"
"Dinner? Me? With you?"
"Well, that would be, I mean, oh, yes"
When we're human again, only human again
When the girl finally sets us all free
Cheeks a-bloomin' again, we're assumin' again
We'll resume our long lost joie de vivre
We'll be playin' again, holiday' again
And we're prayin' it's A S A P
When we cast off this pall
We'll stand straight, we'll walk tall
When we're all that we were
Thanks to him, thanks to her
Coming closer and closer and closer
We'll be dancing again, we'll be twirling again
We'll be whirling around with such ease
When we're human again, only human again
We'll go waltzing those old one-two-three's
We'll be floating again, we'll be gliding again
Stepping, striding as fine as you please
Like the real human does, I'll be all that I was
On that glorious morn' when we're finally reborn
Belle:
Yes, I made the choice
For papa, I will stay
But I don't deserve to to lose my freedom in this way
You monster!
If you think that what you've done is right, well then
You're a fool!
Think again!
Is this home?
Is this where I should learn to be happy?
Never dreamed
That a home could be dark and cold
I was told
Ev'ry day in my childhood:
Even when you grow old
Home should be where the heart is
Never where words so true!
My heart's far, far away
Home is too
Is this home
Is this what I must learn to believe in
Try to find
Something good in this tragic place
Just in case
I should stay here forever
Held in this empty place
Oh, that won't be easy
I know the reason why
My heart's far, far away
Home's alike
What I'd give to return
To the life that I knew lately
But I know now I can't
All my problems going by
Is this home?
Am I here for a day or forever?
Shut away
From the world until who knows when
Oh, but then
As my life has been altered once
It can change again
Build higher walls around me
Change ev'ry lock and key
Nothing lasts, nothing holds
All of me
My heart's far, far away
PRINCE ERIC
Where did she go?
Where can she be?
When will she come again
Calling to me?
Calling to me...
Calling to me...
Somewhere there’s a girl
Who’s like the shimmer of the wind upon the water
Somewhere there’s a girl
Who’s like the glimmer of the sunlight on the sea
Somewhere there’s a girl
Who’s like a swell of endless music
Somewhere she is singing
And her song is meant for me
And her voice
It’s sweet as angels sighing
And her voice
It’s warm as summer sky
And that sound
It haunts my dreams
And spins me ‘round
Until it seems
I’m flying...
Her voice
I can sense her laughter
In the ripple of the waves against the shoreline
I can see her smiling
In the moonlight as it settles on the sand
I can feel her waiting
Just beyond the pale horizon
Singing out a melody too lovely to withstand
And her voice
It’s there as dusk is falling
And her voice
It’s there as dawn steals by
Pure and bright, it’s always near
All day, all night
And still I hear it calling...
Her voice
Strange as a dream...
Real as the sea...
If you can hear me now
Come set me free...
Quasimodo:
So many times out here
I've watched a happy pair
Of lovers walking in the night
They had a kind of glow around them
It almost looked like heaven's light
I knew I'd never know
That warm and loving glow
Though I might wish with all my might
No face as hideous as my face
Was ever meant for heaven's light
But suddenly an angel has smiled at me
And kissed my cheek without a trace of fright
I dare to dream that she
Might even care for me
And as I ring these bells tonight
My cold dark tower seems so bright
I swear it must be heaven's light
Priests:
Confiteor Deo Omnipotenti (I confess to God almighty)
Beatae Mariae semper Virgini (To blessed Mary ever Virgin)
Beato Michaeli archangelo (To the blessed archangel Michael)
Sanctis apostolis omnibus sanctis (To the holy apostles, to all the saints)
Frollo:
Beata Maria
You know I am a righteous man
Of my virtue I am justly proud
Priests:
Et tibit Pater (And to you, Father)
Frollo:
Beata Maria
You know I'm so much purer than
The common, vulgar, weak, licentious crowd
Priests:
Quia peccavi nimis (That I have sinned)
Frollo:
Then tell me, Maria
Why I see her dancing there
Why her smold'ring eyes still scorch my soul
Priests:
Cogitatione (In thought)
Frollo:
I feel her, I see her
The sun caught in raven hair
Is blazing in me out of all control
Priests:
Verbo et opere (In word and deed)
Frollo:
Like fire
Hellfire
This fire in my skin
This burning
Desire
Is turning me to sin
It's not my fault
Priests:
Mea culpa (Through my fault)
Frollo:
I'm not to blame
Priests:
Mea culpa (Through my fault)
Frollo:
It is the gypsy girl
The witch who sent this flame
Priests:
Mea maxima culpa (Through my most griveous fault)
Frollo:
It's not my fault
Priests:
Mea culpa (Through my fault)
Frollo:
If in God's plan
Priests:
Mea culpa (Through my fault)
Frollo:
He made the devil so much
Stronger than a man
Priests:
Mea maxima culpa (Through my most griveous fault)
Frollo:
Protect me, Maria
Don't let this siren cast her spell
Don't let her fire sear my flesh and bone
Destroy Esmeralda
And let her taste the fires of hell
Or else let her be mine and mine alone
Guard:
Minister Frollo, the gypsy has escaped
Frollo:
What?
Guard:
No longer in the cathedral. She's gone
Frollo:
But how? Never mind. Get out, you idiot
I'll find her. I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris
Hellfire
Dark fire
Now gypsy, it's your turn
Choose me or
Your pyre
Be mine or you will burn
Priests:
Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy)
Frollo:
God have mercy on her
Priests:
Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy)
Frollo:
God have mercy on me
Priests:
Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy)
Frollo:
But she will be mine
Now we can walk, now we can run
Now we can stay all day in the sun
Just you and me and I can be
Let the stars in the sky
Remind us of man's compassion
Let us love till we die and
God Bless us everyone
In your heart there's a light
As bright as a star in heaven
Let it shine through the night and
God bless us everyone
Till each child is fed,
Till all men are free,
Till the world becomes a family
Star by star in the sky and
Kindness by human kindness
Light this world with your love and
God bless us everyone
Till each child is fed,
Till all men are free,
Till the world becomes a family
Let the stars in the sky
Remind us of man's compassion
Let us love till we die and
Who does she think she is?
That girl has tangled with the wrong man!
Darn right!
No one says, "No" to Gaston!
Dismissed! Rejected! Publically humiliated!
It's more than I can bear
More beer?
What for? Nothing helps, I'm disgraced
Who you? Never!
Gaston, you've got to pull yourself together
Gosh, it disturbs me to see you Gaston
Looking so down in the dumps
Every guy here'd like to be you, Gaston
Even when taking your lumps
There's no man in town as admired as you
You're everyone's favorite guy
Everyone's awed and inspired by you
And it's not very hard to see why
No one's slick as Gaston
No one's quick as Gaston
No one's neck's as incredibly thick as Gaston's
For there's no man in town half as manly
Perfect, a pure paragon!
You can ask any Tom, Dick, or Stanley
And they'll tell you whose team they prefer to be on
No one's been like Gaston
A kingpin like Gaston
No one's got a swell cleft in his chin like Gaston
As a specimen, yes, I'm intimidating!
My, what a guy, that Gaston!
Give five, "Hurrahs!"
Give twelve, "Hip hips!"
Gaston is the best and the rest is all drips
No one fights like Gaston
Douses lights like Gaston
In a wrestling match nobody bites like Gaston
For there's no one as burly and brawny
As you see I've got biceps to spare
Not a bit of him scraggly or scrawny
That's right!
And every last inch of me's covered with hair
No one hits like Gaston
Matches wits like Gaston
In a spitting match nobody spits like Gaston
I'm especially good at expectorating!
Ten points for Gaston!
When I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs
Every morning to help me get large
And now that I'm grown I eat five dozen eggs
So I'm roughly the size of a barge!
My, what a guy, that Gaston!
Hold
Girls, girls, girls, please
There's plenty for all
Oh yeah
[Incomprehensible]
No one shoots like Gaston
Makes those beauts like Gaston
Then goes tromping around wearing boots like Gaston
I use antlers in all of my decorating!
They may offer you fortune and fame,
Love and money and instant acclaim.
But whatever they offer you,
Don't feed the plants!
They may offer you lots of cheap thrills,
Fancy discos in Beverly Hills.
But whatever they offer you,
Don't feed the plants!
Look out!
Here comes Audrey II.
Look out!
Here I come for you...
Here I come for you...
Here I come for you...
Here I come for you...
Hold you hat and hang on to your soul.
Something's comming to eat the world whole.
If we fight it we've still got a chance.
But whatever they offer you,
Though they're slopping the trough for you,
Please, whatever they offer you,
Don't feed the plants!
Feed me. Feed me. Feed me.
Feed me, Seymour. Feed me all night long.
(That's right, boy! You can do it!)
Feed me, Seymour. Feed me all night long. (Ha, ha, ha, ha ha.)
'Cause if you feed me, Seymour, I can grow up big and strong.
Would you like a Cadillac car?
Or a guest shot on Jack Paar?
How about a date with Hedy Lamarr?
You gonna git it. (If you want it, baby.)
How would you like to be a big wheel,
dinin' out for every meal?
I'm the plant to make it all real.
You gonna git it.
Hey, I'm your genie, I'm your friend. I'm your willing slave.
Take a chance. Feed me, eh? You know what kinda eats,
what kinda red hot treats, what kinda sticky licky sweets I crave.
Come on, Seymour, don't be a putz.
Trust me and your life will surely rival King Tut's.
Show a little initiative, boy. Work up some guts
and you'll git it.
(I don't know. I don't know.
I have so, so many strong reservations.
Should I go and perform mutilations?)
Think about a room at the Ritz,
wrapped in velvet, covered in glitz.
A little nookie gonna clean up those zits
and you'll git it.
(Gee, I'd like a Harley machine,
toolin' around like I was James Dean,
makin' all the guys on the corner turn green.)
So go git it.
If you want to be profound, if you really got to justify,
take a whiff and look around. A lot of folks deserve to die.
Stupid woman. Christ, what a friggin' scatterbrain.
I'm sorry, doctor.
Falls off the motorcycle.
If you want a rationale, it isn't very hard to see, no, no, no.
Stop and think it over, pal. The guy sure looks like plant foot to me.
The guy sure looks like plant food to me.
The guy sure looks like plant food to me.
He's so nasty, treatin' her rough,
smackin' her around and always talkin' so tough.
(You need blood and he's got more than enough.)
I need blood and he's got more than enough.
I/(You) need blood and he's got more than enough.
PILOT
I'll tell you a tale of the bottomless blue
SAILORS
An' it's hey to the starboard, heave ho!
Brave sailor, beware, 'cause a big 'uns a-brewin'
SAILORS
Mysterious fathoms below!
Heave ho!
PILOT
I'll sing you a song of the king of the sea
PILOT & SAILORS
An' it's hey to the starboard, heave ho!
PILOT
The ruler of all of the oceans is he
SAILORS
In mysterious fathoms below!
Fathoms below, below!
From whence wayward westerlies blow!
Where Triton is king
And his merpeople sing
In mysterious fathoms below!
PRINCE ERIC
Isn't this perfection, Grimsby? Out on the open sea, surrounded by nothing but water
GRIMSBY
Oh, yes, it’s simply...delightful...
PRINCE ERIC
The salt on your skin
And the wind in your hair
And the waves as they ebb and they flow!
We’re miles from the shore
And guess what – I don’t care!
GRIMSBY
As for me, I’m about to heave ho!
PILOT
Back to work!
SAILORS
I’ll sing you a song of the king of the sea
An’ it’s hey to the starboard, heave ho!
The ruler of all of the oceans is he
In mysterious fathoms below!
GRIMSBY
King of the sea? Why, that’s nautical nonsense – nothing but a superstition!
PILOT
The king of the ocean gets angry
An’ when he gets angry, beware!
I’m tellin’ ya, lad, when King Triton is mad
How the waves’ll buck, rock to and fro!
PILOT & SAILORS
Hold on, good luck, as down you go!
PRINCE ERIC
What is that? Do you hear something?
GRIMSBY
Milord, please. Enough sea-faring! You’ve got to get back to court –
to honor your father’s dying wish and
take up his crown!
PRINCE ERIC
That’s not the life for me, Grimsby—
There it is again!
PILOT
We ought to head back to shore, your majesty.
GRIMSBY
Indeed, we should!
PRINCE ERIC
Not while I’m captain. Now follow that voice! To the ends of the earth if we have to!
PILOT
Aye-aye, Captain!
PILOT & SAILORS
There’s mermaids out there in the bottomless blue
An’ it’s hey to the starboard, heave ho!
Watch out for ‘em, lad, or you’ll go to your ruin
When I was young and just a bad little kid,
My momma noticed funny things I did.
Like shootin' puppies with a BB-Gun.
I'd poison guppies, and when I was done,
I'd find a pussy-cat and bash it's head.
That's when my momma said...
(What did she say?)
She said my boy I think someday
You'll find a way
To make your natural tendencies pay...
You'll be a dentist.
You have a talent for causing things pain!
Son, be a dentist.
People will pay you to be inhumane!
You're temperment's wrong for the priesthood,
And teaching would suit you still less.
Son, be a dentist.
You'll be a success.
"Here he is folks, the leader of the plaque."
"Watch him suck up that gas. Oh My God!"
"He's a dentist and he'll never ever be any good."
"Who wants their teeth done by the Marqui DeSade?"
"Oh, that hurts! Wait! I'm not numb!"
"Eh, Shut Up! Open Wide! Here I Come!"
I am your dentist.
And I enjoy the career that I picked.
I'm your dentist.
And I get off on the pain I inflict!
I thrill when I drill a bicuspid.
It's swell, though then tell me I'm mal-adjusted.
And though it may cause my patients distress.
Somewhere...Somewhere in heaven above me...
I know...I know that my momma's proud of me.
"Oh, Momma..."
'Cause I'm a dentist...
And a success!
"Say ahh..."
"Say AHhhh..."
"Say AAARRRHHHH!!!"
Oh, we are the daughters of Triton
Great father who loves us and named us well
Aquata
Adrena
Arista
Adena
Adella
Alana
And then there is the youngest in her musical debut
A seventh little sister, we're presenting her to you
To sing a song Sebastian wrote, her voice is like a bell
You think I'm an ignorant savage
And you've been so many places
I guess it must be so
But still I cannot see
If the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don't know?
You don't know ...
You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name
You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth
The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends
How high will the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountains
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind
You can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
Racetrack:

SUNG IN COUNTERPOINT
1. Look! They're putting up a headline
They call that a headline?
I get better stories
From the copper on the beat!
I was gonna start at twenty
Now a dozen'll be plenty
Tell me, how'm I gonna make ends meet?
2. What's it say?
That won't pay!
So where's your spot?

Newsies:

Snipeshooter:

Newsies:

The idiot who wrote it
Must be working for the Sun!
Didja hear about the fire?

Go get 'em Cowboy ...
ARIEL:
Oh! Just look!
It's like I'm in a storybook!
Oh! It's bliss!
I dreamed that it would be
Somewhat-
But not
Like this!
Look over there!
Oh my god!
How very odd!
And what might they be?
Something splendid, maybe!
Look over here!
Could you bust?
Isn't it just
Bedazzling, dazing
Utterly amazing!
Gazing 'round, it's like, to die!
Just seeing it feels so good
I'd scream if I only could!
I'd hoped and wished
And wanted so to be here
Wished and prayed
And planned it to a "t"
Prayed and wow!
Just look- it's really me here!
Walking around, strange as it seems
Somewhere beyone my wildest dreams!
MAID 1:
Look at her there
Looking 'round
Won't make a sound
MAID 2:
Just keeps on gawking-
Weird how she's not talking
MAID 3:
Look at her stare
MAID 4:
Lucky miss!
MAID 3:
Chosen like this
To stay for dinner
MAID 4:
What does he see in her?
Carlotta
Hush no, girls- she's simply shy!
MAIDS:
Hmmph!
MAIDS 3 & 4:
Just picture the table chat!
MAIDS 1 & 2:
One sided, if even that!
ARIEL:
I'd hoped and wished
And wondered what I'd do here
Wished and prayed
And pictured what I'd see
Prayed and wow!
My prayers are coming true here!
Look at it all, look how it gleams!
Lovely beyond my wildest dreams...
Look- it's him!
So handsome and refined and slim
Sweet, sincere
Magnificent from head to toe
And oh...
I'd hoped and wished
My life would feel enchanted!
Wished and prayed
The fates would hear my plea
Prayed and wow!
My prayers are more than granted!
Look at it all, hall after hall
Perfect as you could please here!
Marvels galore, and even more
Gee, did I mention he's here?
And if - who knows? - all of it goes
Past even these extremes
Just look at me and you will see
Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Than somebody bends
Unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small, to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Beauty... and the Beast
Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast.
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast.

Pie and pudding "en flambe"
We'll prepare and serve with flair
A culinary cabaret
You're alone
And you're scared
But the banquet's all prepared
No one's gloomy or complaining
While the flatware's entertaining
We tell jokes
I do tricks
With my fellow candlesticks
[Mugs:] And it's all in perfect taste
That you can bet
[All:] Come on and lift your glass
You've won your own free pass
To be out guest
[Lumiere:] If you're stressed
It's fine dining we suggest
[All:] Be our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest
[Lumiere:] Life is so unnerving
For a servat who's not serving
He's not whole without a soul to wait upon
Ah, those good old days when we were useful
Suddenly those good old days are gone
Ten years we've been rusting
Needing so much more than dusting
Needing exercise, a chance to use our skills
Most days we just lay around the castle
Flabby, fat and lazy
You walked in and oops-a-daisy!
[Mrs Potts:] It's a guest
It's a guest
Sakes alive, well I'll be blessed
Wine's been poured and thank the Lord
I've had the napkins freshly pressed
With dessert
She'll want tea
And my dear that's fine with me
While the cups do their soft shoeing
I'll be bubbling, I'll be brewing
I'll get warm
Piping hot
Heaven's sakes! Is that a spot?
Clean it up! We want the company impressed
We've got a lot to do
Is it one lump or two
For you, our guest?
[Chorus:] She's our guest
[Mrs Potts:] She's our guest
[Chorus:] She's our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Our command is your request
It's ten years since we had anybody here
And we're obsessed
With your meal
With your ease
Yes, indeed, we aim to please
While the candlelight's still glowing
Let us help you
We'll keep going
Course by course
One by one
'Til you shout, "Enough! I'm done!"
Then we'll sing you off to sleep as you digest
Tonight you'll prop your feet up
But for now, let's eat up
Be our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Oh, I come from a land, from a far away place
Where the caravan camels roam
Where they cut off your ear
If they don't like your face
It's barbaric, but hey, it's home
When the wind's from the east
And the sun's from the west
And the sand in the glass is right
Come on down, stop on by
Hop a carpet and fly
To another Arabian night
Arabian nights
Like Arabian days
More often than not
Are hotter than hot
In a lot of good ways
Arabian nights
'Neath Arabian moons
A fool off his guard
Could fall and fall hard
I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride
A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming
A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
It's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world with you
Now I'm in a whole new world with you
Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky
A whole new world
Don't you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things to see
Hold your breath - it gets better
I'm like a shooting star
I've come so far
I can't go back to where I used to be
A whole new world
Every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue
Every moment red-letter
I'll chase them anywhere
There's time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you
A whole new world
That's where we'll be
A thrilling chase
A wondrous place
Gonna shout it from the mountaintops, a star is born
Honey, hit us with a hallelu, the kid came shining through
Girl, sing the song, come blow your horn, a star is born
Come on everybody shout out loud, a star is born
Just remember in the darkest hour
Within your heart
So don
Just keep your eyes upon the skies
Every night a star is, right in sight a star is
Burning bright, a star is born
Like a beacon in the cold dark night, a star is born
Told ya everything would turn out right, a star is born
Just when everything was all at sea the boy made history
The bottom line, he sure can shine
His rising sign is capricorn, he knew how to
He had a clue, telling you a star is born
Here
Come on everybody shout out loud, a star is born
Just remember in the darkest hour
Within your heart
So don
Just keep your eyes upon the skies
Every night a star is, right in sight a star is
