3 News was the television, internet and radio news service of New Zealand's first private commercial television channel TV3. The flagship news bulletin was the nightly 6pm news; 3 News also had morning, midday and evening news bulletins, as well as several current affairs shows.
As the news brand of MediaWorks, 3 News produced bulletins live from Auckland on TV3, and an hour later on TV3 Plus 1, it produces video, audio and article news for 3news.co.nz, and reports news for Radio Live news bulletins.
On 1 February 2016, the 3 News and Radio Live News brands were replaced with Newshub, a new brand aimed at encompassing all of MediaWorks' news outlets.
Paul Henry is 3 News' cross-platform, morning breakfast news programme broadcast live on TV3 and Radio Live on weekdays between 6:00am and 9:00am. It is presented by Paul Henry with Hilary Barry as news anchor, and Jim Kayes as sports anchor. The show began to air on Tuesday 7 April 2015 and continues to air while all other shows under the former 3 News brand have been cancelled.

From June of 1976, here is a rare sign-off (NEVER seen today!!) from WKYC, Ch. 3, NBC in Cleveland. The late Jay Miltner is announcing. Sorry this is so dark, but it was taped off an antenna, with only mediocre results, unfortunately.

Asi lo vivi by G4Eramos amigos nada mas
tu enamorado de alguien mas
y yo tan solo consejera de algo inusual
no esperaba imaginar tanto
no esperaba descubrir
Pero al final así lo viví
pero entendí mejor
Cada dia cada momento era especial
lo entendi mejor que los demas
no esperaba presentir pensé que
estaba mal sentir que al final
regresar de nuevo no quiero expresar
ah ah ah ah
Hubo momentos que quise llorar
y me aguante asi de mas
las lagrimas en tus mejillas
era de una niña
que le arranco ah la soledad
Pero al final así lo viví
pero entendí mejor
Cada dia cada momento era especial
lo entendi mejor que los demas
no esperaba presentir pensé que
estaba mal sentir que al final
regresar de nuevo no quiero expresar
pero al final asi lo vivi
