Searching For Sea Monsters(full documentary)HD
Imagine coming face to face with a cannibalistic creature that is as tall as you are and has long tentacles, a razor-sharp beak, and skin that flashes with bizarre, dazzling color. NATURE's Encountering Sea Monsters does just that, as underwater cameraman Bob Cranston explores the remarkable world of marine creatures called cephalopods. Cephalopods include squids, cuttlefish, octopi, and nautili. Warriors of the Sea | Full Focumentary - Planet Doc Full Documentaries
Documentary "Warriors of The Sea. Full Documentary" 00:30 Papua over 1,400 islands, large and small, scattered between the Equator and north Australia. Many of these islands are tiny, uninhabited coral atolls. As a result of the last glaciation, many communities were cut off. The different ethnic groups that live on the islands of Papua were greatly feared by the sailors who dared to navigate the waters of these 'accursed' islands. Head-hunters and cannibals, these fierce warriors of the sea remained isolated until well into the twentieth century. Their bloodthirsty fame meant that, for a long time, their territory remained unexplored by Europeans. 07:10 Yams are the most important crop in the Trobriand islands. In fact, they are a symbol of wealth, both personal and of the clan. Every man must build a yam house for each one of his wives. On the island of Kiriwina we attend a purifying ceremony. The participants, under the protection of the medicine man, invoke their ancestors to fight and drive out the evil spirits which have caused a bad harvest. 17:36 The canoe builders are very important in these communities. They have the same social status as the carvers of yam houses. A man may not have a house, but if he does not have a boat he virtually does not exist for the community. When they die, their canoes are abandoned far from the shore, so the currents will carry them out to sea, to the mermaids who will accompany their spirit on its final voyage to the realm of the gods. They believe their boats bear the traces of all the acts and deeds of this life. They are the summary of everything they have been and everything they have done. 19:53 In the Trobriand islands, hundreds of defiant warriors await the arrival of their enemies. They have emerged from the forest at the first light of day, after performing the ceremony to invoke the god of war. Before the game begins, the rival teams sing old songs, which speak of their warrior exploits. It is a way to incite and impress the rival team. Then, they exchange betel nuts, as a symbol of fraternity. These nuts, also called baual, are slightly narcotic. 24:13 On the islands of Papua there are many volcanoes, a lot of them active, like Turvurvur, which in 1994 destroyed the city of Rabaul, the capital of the island of New Britain. Any plans to rebuild the city and the port seem to have abandoned forever. The people moved to nearby Kokopo, which is now the administrative capital. Dances are an essential part of the spirituality of these people. Through dance, they invoke the spirits, to ask them for protection and favour. 30:57 Though the dances contain elements of magic, not all are performed for religious reasons. Among the inhabitants of the Trobriand islands, there are a number of dances simply for pleasure, performed at special celebrations, or as a kind of courtship ritual. The nearly naked girls perform sexy dances. In this way, the men of their own clan will turn their attention to other girls who they will be able to marry for these people are exogamous. The courtships end with the arrival of the rains. 36:39 Something they greatly value, as well as the betel, is tobacco. This is prepared in a very rudimentary way. The leaves, dried in caves, are smoked in pipes, or wrapped to make cigarettes. Tobacco is also used in rituals, it is a liturgical element. Its smell attracts the spirits. In Rabaul, they still use the sell mony or traditional currency, which they call tambu. They are small shells threaded together to make necklaces of a particular value. These shells are very difficult to find. 39:34 These islands are subject to a kind of traditional, magical law, which regulates relations of exchange and is known by the name Kula Ring. Objects made from Spondylus shells, called Soulava, are passed round clockwise, and the Muali, which are made from white, conical shells, are passed round anti-clockwise. 45:49 The Banin, from northern New Britain, put the spirits of the forest to the test of fire. The initiated have spent almost the entire day hidden in the forest, invoking the supernatural beings that live in the depths of the jungle. A circular piece of wood, placed in the navel, ensures that the spirit that possesses the initiate cannot escape. They believe that these creatures from the other world enter and leave though the navel. Their customs and habits are rapidly being wiped out by the Christian sects, and possibly in just a few years time it will be difficult to witness this fire dance. "Each player is given a nickname by which they are identified. This is done to make it more difficult to tell players apart from NPCs, who have similar names and look the same as normal players. Each player is assigned a quarry, whom he or she must murder. The last known location of a player's quarry is always revealed to the player. However, the appearance of the quarry is only revealed if the player converses with the quarry. There are several different weapons with which to eliminate one's quarry. Different amounts of money are rewarded for a kill depending on how difficult it is to use the weapon and how many times it has been used. If a player murders an NPC or anyone other than his or her quarry or hunter, a cash amount - dependent on the server settings - will be deducted from his or her bank account. Players with less than a certain figure, set by the server, in their bank account will be kicked from the cruise. Various weapons can be found scattered all around the ship, such as flare guns, fire axes, firearms, knives, swords, crowbars (which state "to be used by a free man" - a reference to Half-Life's storyline), even secret traps provided just for killing your quarry, like falling lifeboats, saunas, freezers, even a deck that turns into a 60 degree angle by command, among others. If a player is seen pulling out a weapon in front of a guard or a camera, or spotted by eyewitnesses, then they are sent to jail. There is an "eye" symbol in the player's HUD that tells them whether they are being spotted or not; if they are watched by security the eye turns red; if not, the eye is green. The meter for trespassing counts down and the player is fined when the countdown is complete (and, if they run out of money to pay the fines, go to jail). Guards can be bribed to overlook weapons. Everyone has eight needs similar to The Sims. Such needs are eating, drinking, sleeping, socialising, maintaining proper hygiene and using the bathroom. Some of the needs would cause impairment, such as lack of sleep would cause the player to fall asleep on the spot. Other needs could become fatal, such as thirst and hunger. If the player does not fulfill these needs, he or she will die, resulting in a loss of $1000. Needs are sated by going to restaurants, taking showers, talking with other players, etc. This forces players into situations where they are vulnerable to attack, and also attempts to prevent players from camping." Florida Keys Webcam Captures Sea Turtle Hatch
Florida Keys Webcam Captures Sea Turtle Hatch
Using infrared lighting, a live-streaming, high-definition "turtle webcam" positioned on a beach in the Florida Keys recorded the hatch of about 100 baby loggerhead sea turtles on Friday, July 25, just before 9 p.m. Friday evening, the 3-inch-long babies erupted from a hole, came out en masse and headed to the Atlantic Ocean under dim moonlight. The camera uses infrared lighting so hatchlings won't be confused by artificial light and will go to sea — guided by moonlight reflecting on the water -- instead of pushing further onto land. The webcam has been focused on the nest in the Lower Keys for almost two weeks, and is part of ongoing efforts in the Florida Keys to raise awareness of sea turtles and the need to protect them. Loggerhead, green, leatherback, hawksbill and Kemp's ridley sea turtles nest on beaches in the Keys and other parts of Florida, and inhabit Florida and Keys waters. All five species are considered either threatened or endangered, and are protected by the Federal Endangered Species Act of 1973. The webcam was approved by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. Online: http://www.fla-keys.com/turtlecam- published: 26 Jul 2014

9 Ft Shark Eaten by Unknown Sea Creature
9 Ft Shark Eaten by Unknown Sea Creature
Shark eaten by Megalodon? A giant unknown sea creature ate a 9 foot shark. The 3 meter shark alpha was suddenly taken under by some sea animal. At 4am on Christmas Eve a tagged shark was eaten by a massive unknown sea creature -What Happened? -Why it's Mysterious? -And what are the Plausible Explainations? -What Happened? Documentary Filmmaker Dave Riggs and his crew, who tagged a large number of great white sharks off the coasts of Bremer Bay in Australia, encountered something very unusual. One of the tags of a large shark was discovered washed up on shore. The tag had no signs of algae, but instead appeared to have been heavily bleach by stomach acid. Using satellite tracking, they were able to pin point the exact time the shark was mysterious attacked and eaten. -Why this is mysterious This is mysterious for 2 reasons 1.) The data showed the tag taking a sudden 1902 foot drop down the continental shelf which indicated that the shark had just become prey to something big and very fast. 2.) After further examination, it was revealed that the tag had been ingested by an animal with an internal temperate of around 78 degrees Fahrenheit, 32 degrees higher than than the great white's normal temperature. -Plausible Explainations? Some people suggested that it could have been an orca, they are certainly large enough, with the biggest on record being 32 feet long and they have been known to hunt great white sharks, however, the problem with this theory is that killer whales generally stay near the surface and the deepest an orca has ever been recorded was 850 feet while this unknown creature was nearly 2,000 feet deep. Another theory was that the tag may have somehow been removed from the shark. However, the trouble with this explanation is that great white sharks body temperature is significantly warmer than the surrounding water, so if the tag had been removed the tracker would have to have picked up a sudden drop in temperature, which which, it did not. So could another larger great white shark have been the culprit? Not likely because of the temperate shift. The temperate of the tag while in the muscle tissue is about 8 degrees warmer than the cold ocean water. -Recorded Tag Temperature 46F -Water Temperature 38F The temperature of a great white shark's belly will range between 13-25 degrees warmer than the surrounding waters. So this would indicate a temperature between 52 degrees with a maximum of 64 degrees. The temperature of whatever unknown sea animal that ate the tagged shark was at 78 degrees.
