The antiwar movement is back on the streets. Thousands marched on April 9 in
New York and April 10 in San Francisco. These demonstrations represented an important step forward for the United National Antiwar Committee and the antiwar movement as a whole. The new antiwar movement needs to oppose the US foreign wars but also defend the domestic victims of the "war on terror," the Muslims who are being attacked. It must connect the dots between the money spent on war and the attacks on unions and cuts to education and needed programs. This is what these demonstrations on April 9 and 10 did....

The Arab world is seething. Though it was ignored by most of the Western media, the mood has also spread to Iraq in recent weeks to generate a massive protest movement. In contrast to the demonstrations in other Arab countries very little was reported here in Germany -- could it be because so many seriously believe Iraq has been “liberated” since Saddam Hussein's 2003 fall? At last Friday’s (Feb. 25) nationwide demonstrations alone, according to UPI, at least 29 people were killed and hundreds injured. Three hundred demonstrators were reportedly arrested. Even the Washington Post, which shows a lot of sympathy for the government forces, reported about 23 dead.

years in prison, assuring he would die before he again saw daylight. Now, he is
sentenced to hang....

Iraqi soldier kicked him in the neck. A U.S. marine sergeant was watching and
reported the incident, which was duly recorded and deemed “valid.”
The outcome: “No investigation required.”...

A 22 year old U.S. soldier, B. Manning, has been arrested on suspicion of leaking classified combat video footage and secret documents to a whistle-blower website. SPC Manning, from Potomac, Maryland, is assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division and was stationed at Forward Operating Base Hammer, located east of Baghdad. SPC Manning was arrested in Iraq and is currently being held in Kuwait pending further investigations. The WikiLeaks website posted a video which shows U.S. occupation forces shooting civilians on a Baghdad street during 2007....

Iraq into accepting these plans, the U.S. leaders might have believed they could set up a single weak and submissive Iraqi puppet government....

To conclude I would like to denounce the total lack of interest in human lives by the occupying forces and the Western mainstream press. There is obviously a lot of racism involved in the way this occupation is handled
by the MNF-I and covered by the media. Some of the academics assassinated were among the finest scientists not only in the Middle East, but worldwide. Nevertheless, none of these murders have been investigated, and very few commemorations appeared in the Western press when these famous academics were killed. And that is another crime....
