The Great Debate: Marshall vs. Zuckerman (Christianity vs. Secular Humanism)
Does Christianity or secular humanism provide a better foundation for civil society? That is the question that is going to addressed between two scholars, Dr. David Marshall and Dr. Phillip Zuckerman, a Christian and an atheist. David Marshall is the founder and director of the Kuai Mu Institute for Christianity and World Cultures, and the author of four books, including The Truth Behind the New Atheism: Responding to the Emerging Challenges to God and Christianity (Harvest House Publishers). Phil Zuckerman is a professor of sociology and secular studies at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA. He is the author most recently of Faith No More: Why People Reject Religion (Oxford University Press, 2011) and Society Without God (NYU Press, 2008).- published: 23 Oct 2013

This talk was part of the Ancestor's Trail 2013 http://ancestorstrail.net/ The Ancestor's Trail is an annual event combining walking, evolution and art. Based on Richard Dawkins' book 'The Ancestor's Tale', the Trail guides its walkers along a time line from the present day back 3.8 billion years to the origins of life. The 2013 event celebrated the life of Alfred Russel Wallace, and helped raise funds for the statue of Wallace which was unveiled by Sir David Attenborough in November 2013.- published: 30 Jan 2014

Doctor Who: 50 Years of Humanism
Doctor Who: 50 Years of Humanism
For 50 years, "Doctor Who" has been a beacon of burnished humanism. Throughout its half century, it has consistently and boldly stood up for the dignity and respect of all. Here, I try to capture some of that essence. By interweaving quotes and images of every Doctor, and addressing subjects from the worth of every life, to the necessity to stand up to oppression, to the reality of pain and suffering, to the indispensability of skepticism, I hope I have, in my own insubstantial way, paid homage to not only one of the greatest science fiction shows ever made, but also one of the most meaningful voices in humanism. Enjoy.
