While others gathered for a concert at the Myer Music Bowl to ‘Make Poverty History’, a small group assembled on the hill above Birrarung Marr for a 24-hour vigil:
The aim was to ‘Positively [influence] the G20 meeting and those protesting it’ [...] Starting about 7.30pm with chanting, participants intended to spend the evening in discussion and guided meditation, resuming at sunrise [...] with yoga and a series of talks on different spiritual practices, with prayer and meditation led by, amongst others, a Tibetan monk and a representative of the Islamic faith.
