President Barack Obama made a rare acknowledgment during a Friday press briefing concerning the United States’ past use of enhanced interrogation tactics in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks. “In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, we did some things that were wrong. We did a whole lot of things that were right, but we tortured some folks. We did things that were contrary to our values,” Pres. Obama said near the end of a nearly hour-long press briefing at the White House in Washington, DC. See what else the commander-in-chief had to say about the CIA’s use of torture, as well as the admission that they spied on Congress.

Honeybee Robotics presents a sample acquisition and caching architecture for the upcoming Mars 2020 rover mission. This approach uses a SLOT bit for acquisition of returnable core samples. The benefit of the SLOT bit provides mission operators to observe and analyze the core sample along its length and estimate its volume. If deemed to be of high scientific value, the SLOT bit with the sample can be deposited in a cache and hermetically sealed.

Honeybee Robotics has unmatched experience developing technologies for sample acquisition, caching and processing. This includes key technologies and architectures that could enable Mars Sample Return (MSR) as the core function of a Mars 2020 mission. The company has been designing and building surface drills for MSR since the 1990\'s, and to date has built and tested 10 different core drilling systems including lightweight drills that can take multiple core samples from a variety of rocks; intelligent drilling systems that provide fault-tolerant operations; and a range of drill bits to capture whole rock cores or just specific samples..

The Mars Mission 2020 is intended to investigate the environment on Mars in the context of its habitability and potential for preservation of biosignatures within accessible geologic materials. Mars Sample Return is a long-sought objective to better understand the history and habitability of Mars by bringing cached rock samples back to Earth for analysis.

Ebola Virus: Sierra Leone Declares Emergency to Halt Spread
ierra Leone’s president declared a state of emergency Wednesday over the largest outbreak of the Ebola virus in history, drafting in security forces and placing restrictions on movement to combat the spread of the deadly virus.

Ebola has infected more than 1,200 people in three West African countries, and killed close to 700 of them. The outbreak received extra medical attention when two Americans became infected, and a Liberian man with family in the United States died.

The Peace Corps pulled more than 300 volunteers out of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea on Wednesday. Two Peace Corps volunteers are under isolation outside the U.S. after having contact with a person who later died of the Ebola virus, a State Department official told The Associated Press. The volunteers are not symptomatic and are currently isolated under observation.

The Second Seal: War 3And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. 4And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. The Third Seal: Famine 5And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. 6And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. The Fourth Seal: Death 7And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. 8And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. The Fifth Seal: Martyrs 9And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. The Sixth Seal: Terror 12And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Jesus Christ is LORD and Savior the Son of God raised from the dead. All Glory to God. Hallelujah.

Israel-Gaza conflict: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu warns of 'prolonged' military operation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that Israel must be ready for a "prolonged" military operation in the Gaza Strip and will "act strongly and with responsibly" until the mission is completed A grim-faced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned yesterday of a protracted war in Gaza, dashing any hopes of a swift end to the three-week conflict as Palestinian fighters launched an audacious cross-border raid. The Israeli army said five of its soldiers died in two separate incidents, including four in a mortar strike. Local media also reported casualties in the infiltration, but there was no immediate confirmation of this. Inside Gaza itself, eight children and two adults were killed by a blast in a park as an unofficial truce sought by the United Nations for the Muslim Eid al-Fitr festival collapsed. Residents blamed the explosion on an airstrike, but Israel said a misfiring militant rocket caused the carnage. However, Mr Netanyahu indicated in a televised speech Monday that he is widening the objectives, saying that a demilitarisation of Gaza must be part of any future solution for the territory of 1.7 million people. "It has been a difficult, painful day," Mr Netanyahu said in a televised address to the nation. "We have to have patience and be determined to continue the struggle against a murderous terror organisation, which aspires to destroy us," he said, adding that Israeli troops would not leave Gaza until they had destroyed Hamas's tunnel network. Some 1,060 Gazans, according to the United Nations, about three-quarters of them were civilians, have died in the conflict. Israel has lost 52 soldiers and three civilians, as well as a Thai worker. A truce between the sides remained elusive as diplomats sought to end the fighting at the start of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The company has been designing and building surface drills for MSR since the 1990's, and to date has built and tested 10 different core drilling systems including lightweight drills that can take multiple core samples from a variety of rocks; intelligent drilling systems that provide fault-tolerant operations; and a range of drill bits to capture whole rock cores or just specific samples..

Ebola Virus: Sierra Leone Declares Emergency to Halt Spread ierra Leone’s president declared a state of emergency Wednesday over the largest outbreak of the Ebola virus in history, drafting in security forces and placing restrictions on movement to combat the spread of the deadly virus.

Surrounded by security guards and local TV crews in a library of his military compound, which was bombed by the Americans back in 1986, Gaddafi gives an air of quiet confidence. He continues to deny responsibility in the Lockerbie bombing and advocates a one-state solution to the Israel and Palestine conflict. He also comments on Libya's nuclear programme, and shares his opinions on terrorism and democracy. Quizzed by Negus about his softened image, Gaddafi responds that "It is the world that has changed."
