SAU Independence Discussion Forum 25th June 2014

The Scottish Artists Union are delighted to be hosting a Discussion Forum on the subject of Scottish Independence in conjunction with 'Stereo's Living Room: Exploring The Referendum' at Stereo, Glasgow on Wednesday 25th June 2014 between 6 and 8pm.

Our aim is to give a voice to representatives from both sides of the debate as an opportunity for SAU members and the general public to gather information and ask questions about the upcoming Independence Referendum and how it could affect the Arts in Scotland after September 18th.

The SAU Annual Members' Survey and Prize Draw

Members are invited to to take part in the third SAU annual members survey. Each year we seek to gather detailed information about members' working conditions and changes that may have impacted upon their professional activities.  We were greatly encouraged by 371 responses to the 2013 survey and hope to build on that success and increase the number of participants this year.

 

 

Update to the SAU Typical Rates of Pay for Visual & Applied Artists in Scotland

The SAU has from its inception been concerned with establishing recognised national standards in artists’ contracts and payments, as it is often difficult for artists to quantify the value of their work. We have therefore prepared some typical rates of pay which members may wish to use as a guide when negotiating payment for their work on short-term contracts, sessional work and residencies that are paid on a self employed status basis.
