The Forbidden Hebrew Bible's Buried Secrets Revealed...Biblical Archaeology
An archaeological detective story traces the origins of the Hebrew Bible. The Bible's Buried Secrets is a special documentary taking viewers on a fascinating scientific journey that began 3,000 years ago and continues to this day. The film presents the results of more than 100 years of excavation and centuries of biblical scholarship, digging deep into the origins of the Hebrew Bible, or Old Testament. This archaeological detective story tackles some of the biggest questions in biblical studies. Where did the ancient Israelites come from? Who wrote the Bible, when, and why? How did the worship of one god the foundation of modern Judaism, Christianity, and Islam emerge? A powerful intersection of science, scholarship, and scripture, The Bible's Buried Secrets provides unique insight into the deeper meaning of the biblical texts and their continuing resonance through the centuries. This documentary asks whether ancient Israelites believed in one God. Why the bible was written in the first place? Who wrote the bible?- published: 15 May 2014

Archaeologists findings from Ancient Biblical Cities
Archaeologists findings from Ancient Biblical Cities
Archaeologists examine findings from several ancient cities and compare them to Biblical accounts. (Biblical Mysteries EP20) Biblical archaeology involves the recovery and scientific investigation of the material remains of past cultures that can illuminate the periods and descriptions in the Bible, be they from the Old Testament (Tanakh) or from the New Testament, as well as the history and cosmogony of the Judeo-Christian religions. The principal location of interest for this branch of the archaeological sciences is what is known in the relevant religions as the Holy Land, which from a western perspective is also called the Middle East. Even though the main reference points of biblical archaeology are mainly theological and religious, the study of these references is a methodical science. As occurs with other historical studies of other civilizations, the manuscripts must be compared with other contemporaneous societies in Europe, Mesopotamia and Africa. The scientific techniques used are the same as those used in general archaeology, such as excavation and radiocarbon dating among others. In contrast, the archaeology of the ancient Middle East simply deals with the Ancient Near East, or Middle East, without giving any especial consideration to whether its discoveries have any relationship with the Bible. Biblical archaeology is polemical as there are a number of points of view regarding the nature of its purpose and aims, and what these should be. A number of points of view from important archaeologists are included in the section on Expert Commentaries. Biblical archaeology is the discipline occupied with the scientific investigation and recovery of the material remains of past cultures that can illuminate the times and descriptions of the Bible. A broad swathe of time between 2000 BC and 100 AD. Other authors prefer to talk about the "archaeology of Palestine" and to define the relevant territories as those to the east and west of the River Jordan. This indicates that "biblical archaeology" or that of Palestine is circumscribed by the territories that were the backdrop to the biblical stories. The raison d'etre of biblical archaeology derives from the fact that is allows an understanding of the peoples that inhabited the so-called Holy Land. It allows an understanding of their history, culture, identity and movements. This makes it possible to know the exact location of the stories and compare them with fact. Regarding this, Kaswalder has noted that previously the American and Israeli school of biblical archaeology saw archaeology as proof of the veracity of the biblical stories, as can be seen in the work of authors of the stature of William F. Albright, G. Ernest Wright and Yigael Yadin However, today archaeologist are not trying to prove that the stories in the Bible are true, they are trying to discover the historical world upon which the books of the bible drew and from which they derive their meaning. Using this approach, introduced by P. Kaswalder, it is possible to shed light on the following, according to the classification presented by the Catalan papyrologist Joan Maria Vernet: Biblical archaeology can shed light on the knowledge that we have regarding certain historical data described in the biblical stories such as governments, people, battles and cities. It allows us to provide some specific details reflected in the books of the bible for example Hezekiah's Tunnel, the Pool of Bethesda, Calvary and others that effectively relate to those described in the biblical stories. Biblical archaeology lends fundamental support to exegetical studies.- published: 12 Dec 2013

Bill Nye: The Science Guy - Archaeology (Full Episode)
Bill Nye the Science Guy is talking about archaeology -- can you dig it? Archaeologists are kid of like detectives. They're scientists who snoop through old or ancient people's things to find out what life was like thousands of years ago. Archaeologists find ancient cities, tombs, and temples by taking aerial photographs of Earth, by reading old documents, or by just looking at the shape of the land. When they think they've found a site, the archaeologists pick up a shovel and start digging. When archaeologists get close to an object, they dig very carefully. Sometimes they dig with nothing but a toothpick and a paintbrush. Whew! People leave stuff around, things as big as buildings and as small as a shard of a clay jar. Archaeologists examine ancient objects and compare them to things from the past and present to learn about people and civilizations.- published: 15 Nov 2013

Richplanet TV - March 2014 Show - Hidden Welsh Archaeology
Anthony Williams has been researching the archaeology of Garndiffaith and surrounding areas since the 1980's. His friend Dennis Nash was working on a building site as a labourer in Garndiffaith in 1968. Whilst digging the foundations for new council housing, Denis and his workmates uncovered a huge lead slab buried several feet under the ground. The slab was positioned over the apex of a uniform stone structure which resembled an ancient pyramid. Until now this incredible story has been kept from public view. In this programme Dennis and Anthony examine maps of the local area looking for clues to the ancient archaeology of this mysterious site. Anthony is seeking permission to have the area excavated in an attempt to discover what could be records of some of the oldest known civilisations in Britain.- published: 05 Mar 2014

Michael Cremo - Forbidden Archaeology & Human Devolution
Where did human beings, with their attributes of mind and consciousness, come from? Today the most common answer is a process of materialistic evolution. But not everyone is satisfied with that answer, including me. I am therefore proposing an alternative explanation, with roots in the ancient Vedic culture of India . Although I am proposing a Vedic alternative, I am aware that it is part of a larger family of spiritual alternatives, with roots in other religious systems, which I also honor and respect. First I wish to show there is a genuine need for an alternative. There is a lot of archeological evidence that contradicts the currently dominant explanation of human origins, and the current explanation has not been fully demonstrated, to the exclusion of alternatives, by genetics. So there is a genuine need for a new explanation. But before even asking the question, "Where did human beings come from?", we should first ask the question, "What is a human being?" Today, many researchers believe a human being is simply a combination of the ordinary material elements - but when we look at all the evidence, we see it is more reasonable to say that a human being is a combination not just of matter but also of a subtle (but nonetheless material) mind element and an irreducible element of nonmaterial consciousness. These elements must have some source, and this suggests that our cosmos has levels dominated by increasingly more subtle elements, ending with pure consciousness or spirit. Instead of evolving 'up' from matter, as most scientists now believe, consciousness devolves or comes 'down' from a level of pure consciousness, and becomes covered by the lower energies of mind and matter. This process I call devolution. But it is a process that can be reversed, through techniques of prayer, meditation, and yoga, by which consciousness can be restored to its original pure state. And this is the main purpose of human existence. Michael A. Cremo has a Phd. (honoris causa) in science and theology. His work focuses on Vedic perspectives on human origins and antiquity. He has presented papers at meetings of the World Archeological Congress, European Association of Archeologists, and the International Congress for History of Science. He has twice presented papers in the bi-annual conference series Toward A Science of Consciousness. He has given invited lectures at the Royal Institution in London, the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia, and at other scientific institutions and universities around the world. Cremo is the principal author of the book Forbidden Archeology; a comprehensive survey of archeological evidence consistent with Vedic accounts of extreme human antiquity. The abridged popular edition of Forbidden Archeology, titled The Hidden History of the Human Race, has been translated into twenty languages. Cremo's latest book is entitled Human Devolution: A Vedic Alternative to Darwin 's Theory. Cremo is particularly interested in examining the history of the archeology and anthropology from the standpoint of alternative worldviews, particularly worldviews with foundations in consciousness-based ancient Indian thought. He has been a member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness since 1974.- published: 28 Nov 2013
