Do it yourself (DIY) is a term used to describe building, modifying, or repairing of something without the aid of experts or professionals. The phrase "do it yourself" came into common usage in the 1950s in reference to home improvement projects which people might choose to complete independently.
In recent years, the term DIY has taken on a broader meaning that covers a wide range of skill sets. DIY is associated with the international alternative rock, punk rock, and indie rock music scenes; indymedia networks, pirate radio stations, and the zine community. In this context, DIY is related to the Arts and Crafts movement, in that it offers an alternative to modern consumer culture's emphasis on relying on others to satisfy needs. The abbreviation DIY is also widely used in the military as a way to teach commanders (hence how from this YouTube videoclip) or other types of units to take responsibility, so that they'd be able to do things themselves just as a preparation for their own future.

(VERSE 1)
All caught up in a crazy dance
Living on rhythm and circumstance
All washed up, can’t you see?
That’s your problem!
Make a change in our hum-drum lives
To re-awake and realize
We’re all living on a... time bomb!
That’s gonna blow us to pieces
(BRIDGE)
Pressure’s on, heart attack
Science fiction is science fact
Watch your backs, when the bullets fly
That’s our problem!
(CHORUS)
So do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Take a look, take a look around town
Get get get along down
Now do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Hey hey hey yeah, no no no yeah
So do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Sing it out, sing it sing it out loud
Come on, come on, come on yeah now
(VERSE 2)
Crazy peoples right to speak
Pushing and a shoving
On a one way street
That’s enough, I draw the line
Go to sleep for a long long time
Blinkers on, straight ahead
Button my lip, that’s what I said
Listening, I can't justify
Oh, the pain in me I cry
(BRIDGE)
Pressure’s on, heart attack
Science fiction is science fact
Watch your backs, when the bullets fly
That’s our problem!
(REPEAT CHORUS)
So do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Take a look, take a look around town
Get get get along down
Now do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Hey hey hey yeah, no no no yeah
So do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Sing it out, sing it sing it out loud
Come on, come on, come on yeah now
(FINAL CHORUS)
So do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Take a look, take a look around town
Get get get along down
Now do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Hey hey hey yeah, no no no yeah
So do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Sing it out, sing it sing it out loud
Come on, come on, come on yeah now
Do I, how do I, when do I do wrong?
Sing it out, sing it sing it out yeah
[Verse 1:]
I Better not get in your way
I need myself the most
Having fun riding from coast to
Coast
This is me as you can see
Ths life is all about me
So I gotta say do I need you (no)
Can I Have you (no)
Should I love you
Man I don't know
[Verse 2:]
So I decided not to get in
Your way
I'll just do it my way
I'll just get away from you
I'm not the 1 for you
Do need me yes you do
But it's too late to come
Because u don't know how to treat
Me right so it's time to say bye bye bye baby
So can I be without you
Let me know rght now
So let me have a chance to be right
Come on and get me down
Legally I am in love with you
Fon't know what to say
And don't know what to do
I'm closing in lemme get what you got whoever you are is wehat you're
Someone said in the book I read
Love turns on like a light in your head
When it does, you can't see why
Just hold on tight, go for a ride
Life can change in a second or two
That's how it felt when I saw you
All I need is honesty
Tell me baby
Do I, do I
Do I feel like someone you could love, yeah
Do I, do I
Do I feel like someone you could hold on to
Am I the one
The one who makes you come undone
Do I, do I
Like a planet spinning around the sun
Something cosmic has begun
We won't swim against the tide
Well just hold on tight, go for a ride
Lightning strikes in a second or two
That's how it felt when I saw you
I can't hold it back no more
Tell me baby
Do I, do I
Do I feel like someone you could love, yeah
Do I, do I
Do I feel like someone you could hold on to
Am I the one
The one who makes you come undone
Do I, do I
Do I, do I
(Do I, do, do I)
Do I, do I
Something happened when I met you
I can see in your eyes, you felt it too
I don't wanna talk anymore
Be my baby
Do I, do I
Do I feel like someone you could love, yeah
Do I, do I
Do I feel like someone you could hold on to
Am I the one
The one who makes you come undone
Do I, do I
Do I, do I
Baby, what are we becoming?
It feels just like we're always running
Rolling through the motions every day
I could lean in to hold you
Or act like I don't even know you
Seems like you could care less either way
What happened to that girl I used to know?
I just want us back to the way we were before
Do I turn you on at all when I kiss you baby?
Does the sight of me wanting you drive you crazy?
Do I have your love? Am I'm still enough?
Tell me, don't I? Or tell me, do I, baby
Give you everything that that you ever wanted?
Would you rather just turn away and leave me lonely?
Do I just need to give up and get on with my life?
Baby, do I?
Remember when we didn't have nothing
But a perfect simple kind of loving?
Baby, those sure were the days
There was a time our love ran wild and free
But now I'm second guessing everything I see!
Baby, do I still give you what you need?
Still take your breath away?
Light up the spark way down deep?
Baby, do I?!
Whoa!
Tell me baby, do I get one more try? Do I?
Baby, do I?
'Do I?' was one of the last songs written for Mindsize. About as moody and emotional as any song we've written, it was a great way to bring things down a bit in concert. Like many songs, the live version developed well beyond the album version and, in fact, we also wished we'd had those extra parts for the version on Mindsize.
In general terms, 'Do I?' was written to describe a struggle between reaching out to those who don't know the Lord, and dealing with our fear of sharing our faith. In personal terms, this song is about my personal struggle in sharing my faith with my family, and my brother specifically. The chorus states the essence of the struggle - if I I knew love as the Lord does (that is, if I have the Lord's love for these people), these things should not be a struggle at all.
She might have been a princess
She might've been here with us
Or ride so high and far away
Is she sleeping safely?
Is her sky the same way?
Does she know now my own fear?
She might've seen the ocean
If I'd had the notion
To listen closely and obey
I don't know love - do I?
He might have had the stars in
In his eyes and within
He might've been my brother now
Jesus will you hold him?
Showing that you love him?
Careless I have been with words
He should not see the weather
His joy should last forever
Please give him reason to go on
Well is my treasure ever
Any good if I'll never
Have the love to give away?
We might've seen the ocean
I know I've had the notion
But I don't know love
So what's to say?

Hey yeah, hey yeah
Open doors with a loaded gun
Break 'em down and it's just begun
Feel the fire as I come undone
Yeah
I breathe in and it fills my lungs
Let it burn in a vacant sun
Cold blood just let it run, let it run
Miles between us, but now I'm here
Do I walk the valley? Do I die alone?
Am I first to sin as I cast this stone?
Do I? Oh, do I?
Do I pull the trigger? Do I snap the bone?
Do I suffocate? Do I send them home?
Do I? Oh, do I?
Hey yeah, hey yeah
Going blind from a fallen friend
Lay him down from heaven's end
Do I keep on pushing or do I just pretend?
Yeah
Dust storms from a broken sky
Skin cracks and the well is dry
Break these chains, then I walk on by
You can't start over, now I'm here
Do I walk the valley? Do I die alone?
Am I first to sin as I cast this stone?
Do I? Oh, do I?
Do I pull the trigger? Do I snap the bone?
Do I suffocate? Do I send them home?
Do I? Oh, do I?
Chase it down, break it down
Chase it down, break it down
Do I walk the valley? Do I die alone?
Am I first to sin as I cast this stone?
Do I? Oh, do I?
Do I walk the valley? Do I die alone?
Am I first to sin as I cast this stone?
