Glenn Lewis Frey (pronounced Fry; born November 6, 1948) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and actor, best known as a founding member of the Eagles. Frey formed the Eagles after he met drummer Don Henley in 1970 and the two eventually joined Linda Ronstadt's backup band for her summer tour. The Eagles formed in 1971 and released their debut album in 1972. Glenn Frey would play guitar with the Eagles as well as piano and keyboards, and shared lead vocals with Don Henley. The Eagles broke up in 1980 after becoming one of the most successful bands of all time. Frey sang lead vocals on many Eagles hits such as "Take It Easy", "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Tequila Sunrise", "Already Gone", "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid in Town", and "Heartache Tonight". After the breakup of the Eagles in 1980, Frey embarked on a successful solo career. He released his debut album in 1982 and would go on to record such Top 40 hits like "The One You Love", "Smuggler's Blues", "Sexy Girl", "The Heat Is On", and "You Belong to the City". As a member of the Eagles, Frey has won six Grammys, and five American Music Awards. The Eagles have sold over 120 million albums worldwide and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. As a solo artist and with the Eagles combined, Frey has released 24 Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
Linda Maria Ronstadt (born July 15, 1946) is an American popular music recording artist. She has earned eleven Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, an ALMA Award, numerous United States and internationally certified gold, platinum and multiplatinum albums, in addition to Tony Award and Golden Globe nominations.
A singer, songwriter, and record producer, she is recognized as a definitive interpreter of songs. Being one of music's most versatile and commercially successful female singers in U.S. history, she is recognized for her many public stages of self-reinvention and incarnations.
With a one-time standing as the Queen of Rock, where she was bestowed the title of "highest paid woman in rock", and known as the First Lady of Rock, she has more recently emerged as music matriarch, international arts advocate and human rights advocate.
Ronstadt has collaborated with artists from a diverse spectrum of genres—including Billy Eckstine,Frank Zappa, Rosemary Clooney, Flaco Jiménez, Philip Glass, Carla Bley, The Chieftains, Gram Parsons, Dolly Parton, Kate and Anna McGarrigle and has lent her voice to over 120 albums around the world. Christopher Loudon of Jazz Times noted in 2004, Ronstadt is "Blessed with arguably the most sterling set of pipes of her generation ... rarest of rarities—a chameleon who can blend into any background yet remain boldly distinctive ... It's an exceptional gift; one shared by few others."
World Expo 88, also known as Expo '88, was a World's Fair held in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia, during a six-month period between Saturday, 30 April 1988 and Sunday, 30 October 1988. The theme of the Expo was "Leisure in the Age of Technology", and the mascot for the Expo was an Australian platypus named Expo Oz.
The A$625 million fair was the largest event of the 1988 Bicentennial celebrations of the European settlement of Australia. Expo 88 attracted more than 15,760,000 visitors who bought tickets worth A$175 million. The event achieved both its economic aims and very good attendances, was successfully used to promote Queensland as a tourist destination and it spurred a major re-development at the South Brisbane site. The core feature of the site were the international pavilions. Many of the exposition's sculptures and buildings were retained by various entities around the state and are still in use or on display decades later.
The origins for a world expo for Brisbane commenced soon after James Maccormick, architect for the Australia Pavilion at Expo '67, Expo '70 and Expo '74, was commissioned to do an urban renewal study for Kangaroo Point in the early 70s. It occurred to Maccormick that an exposition would be an ideal catalyst for such a redevelopment, and he later hosted meetings with prominent Queensland business persons and government representatives to such purpose. With the Australian Bicentenary looming in 1988, other Australian capitals sought means by which to celebrate the event, including hosting of a Universal Exposition and/or Olympic Games. Sydney and Melbourne both made representations to the Federal Government for matching dollar for dollar funding for a Universal Exposition in the 1988 bicentennial year, however, citing the costs of the new Parliament House in Canberra, also to be opened in the same year, these proposals were knocked back.
The Shadow is a collection of serialized dramas, originally in pulp magazines, then on 1930s radio and then in a wide variety of media, that follow the exploits of the title character, a crimefighting vigilante in the pulps, which carried over to the airwaves as a "wealthy, young man about town" with psychic powers. One of the most famous pulp heroes of the 20th century, The Shadow has been featured in comic books, comic strips, television, video games, and at least five motion pictures. The radio drama is well-remembered for those episodes voiced by Orson Welles.
Introduced as a mysterious radio narrator by David Chrisman, William Sweets and Harry Engman Charlot for Street and Smith Publications, The Shadow was fully developed and transformed into a pop culture icon by pulp writer Walter B. Gibson.
The Shadow debuted on July 31, 1930, as the mysterious narrator of the Street and Smith radio program Detective Story Hour. After gaining popularity among the show's listeners, the narrator became the star of The Shadow Magazine on April 1, 1931, a pulp series created and primarily written by the prolific Gibson.
O the summer time has come
And the trees are sweetly bloomin'
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the bloomin' heather
Will ye go lassie go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the bloomin' heather
Will ye go lassie go?
I will build my love a bower
By a cool crystal fountain
And around it I will pile
All the wild flowers from the mountain
Will ye go lassie go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the bloomin' heather
Will ye go lassie go?
If my true love should not come
Then I'll surely find another
To pull wild mountain mountain thyme
All around the bloomin' heather
Will ye go lassie go
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the bloomin' heather
Will ye go lassie go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the bloomin' heather
I know you need a friend, someone you can talk to
Who will understand what you're going through
When it comes to love, there's no easy answer
Only you can say what you're gonna do
I heard you on the phone, you took his number
Said you weren't alone, but you'd call him soon
Isn't he the guy, the guy who left you cryin'?
Isn't he the one who made you blue?
When you remember those nights in his arms
You know you gotta make up your mind
Are you gonna stay with the one who loves you
Or are you goin' back to the one you love?
Someone's gonna cry when they know they've lost you
Someone's gonna thank the stars above
What you gonna say when he comes over?
There's no easy way to see this through
All the broken dreams, all the disappointment
Oh girl, what you gonna do?
Your heart keeps sayin' it's just not fair
But still you gotta make up your mind
Are you gonna stay with the one who loves you
Or are you goin' back to the one you love?
Someone's gonna cry when they know they've lost you
There's trouble on the street tonight
I can feel it in my bones
I had a premonition
That he should not go alone
I knew the gun was loaded
But I didn't think he'd kill
Ev'rything exploded and the
Blood began to spill
So baby here's your ticket
Put the suitcase in your hand
Here's a little money now
Do it just the way we planned
You be cool for twenty hours
And I'll pay you twenty grand
I'm sorry it went down like this
Someone had to lose
It's the nature of the bus'ness
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
The sailors and the pilots
The soldiers and the law
The payoffs and the ripoffs
And the things nobody saw
No matter if it's heroin, cocaine or hash
You've got to carry weapons
Cause you always carry cash
Thre's lots of shady characters
Lots of dirty deals
Ev'ry name's an alias
In case somebody squeals
It's the lure of easy money
It's gotta very strong appeal
Perhaps you'd understand it better
Standin in my shoes
It's the ultimate enticement
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
See it in the headlines
You hear it ev'ry day
They say they're gonna stop it
But it doesn't go away
They move it through Miami
Sell it in L.A.
They hide it up in Telluride
I mean it's here to stay
It's propping up the governments
Of Columbia and Peru
You ask any D.E.A. man
He'll say there's nothin we can do
From the office of the President
Right down to me and you
Me and you
It's a losing proposition
But one you can't refuse
It's the politics of contraband
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
[Instrumental Prelude]
When I talk to her, I know she doesn't hear me
She seems to be a million miles away
When the lights start to dim
She'll be thinking of him
She loves him so
She can't let go
It's been long enough for her to just forget him
But still she sees his face in ev'ry crowd
She walks out of the room
When they're playing that tune
That's how I know
She can't let go
She can't let go, though she knows it's really over
She can't let go, though she knows he's really gone
And I can't compete with a rose colored memory
A memory that lingers on and on
I've tried ev'rything, but know there's only waiting
For the last dying embers to fade
Oh, she wants to be free
But when she's holding me
That's when I know
She can't let go
I love her so
She moved in next door to me
And she showed me her world
What a neighbor, thanks for the favor
She's a very sexy girl
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
I got a feeling I can't go wrong
'Cause every time I see her
It's like hearing my favorite song
She's already down the steps
She's way down the block
But my heart keeps beating faster
And it just won't stop
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl, that's right
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
I love to take her walkin' and when we started talkin'
I'd tell her she's the finest I've ever seen
She'd look into my eyes but then I realize
I'm holding on to a dream
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl, she's mine
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
Stop any man walking down the street
Ask him what kind of girl he'd like to meet
There's not one thing in this whole wide world
He'd rather see than a sexy girl
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl, oh yeah
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
Glen Frey - Part Of Me, Part Of You
I felt it when the sun came up this morning
I knew that I could not wait another day
Darling, there is something I must tell you
A distant voice is calling me away
Until we find the bridge across forever
Until this grand illusion brings us home
You and I will always be together
From this day on you'll never walk alone
You're a part of me, I'm a part of you
Wherever we may travel
Whatever we go through
Whatever time may take away
It cannot change the way we feel today
So hold me close and say you feel it too
You're a part of me and I'm a part of you
I can hear it when i stand beside the river
I can see it when i look up in the sky
I can feel it when i ...
So many miles to go before i die
We can never know about tomorrow
But still we have to choose which way to go
You and I are standing at the crossroads
Darling, there is one thing you should know
You're a part of me, I'm a part of you
Wherever we may travel
Whatever we go through
Whatever time may take away
It cannot change the way we feel today
So hold me close and say you feel it too
You're a part of me and I'm a part of you
I look at you your whole life stands before you
I look at me and I'm running out of time
Time has brought us here to share these moments
To look for something we may never find
Until we find the bridge across forever
Until this grand illusion brings us home
You and I will always be together
From this day on you'll never walk alone
You're a part of me, I'm a part of you
Wherever we may travel
Whatever we go through
Whatever time may take away
It cannot change the way we feel today
So hold me close and say you feel it too
You're a part of me and I'm a part of you
part of you, part of me, part of you
Old man Rhythm is in my shoes
No use sittin' here and singin' the blues
So be my guest, you got nothin' to lose
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
Well I feel like jumpin'
Baby, won't you join me please?
You know, I don't like beggin'
But know I'm on bended knees
Well I got to get movin' get my hat off the rack
I got to boogie woogie like a knife in the back
So be my guest, you got nothin' to lose
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
Well I got to get to rockin' baby, I ain't lyin'
My heart is beatin' rhythm and it's right on time
So be my guest, you got nothin' to lose
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
Well I feel like jumpin'
Baby, won't you join me please?
You know, I don't like beggin'
But know I'm on bended knees
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Ooo eee, ooo eee baby
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise?
I got sick of my job, sick of my wife
Sick of my future and sick of my life
I packed up my car and I got some gas
And told everybody they could kiss my ass
I'm goin' to Partytown
(Yeah, yeah)
I wanna party down
(Yeah, yeah)
I wanna have some fun
I wanna fool around
I'm goin' to Partytown
The sun comes up, the sun goes down
It doesn't really matter in Partytown
They go all day and they go all night
They keep on goin' 'til they get it right
Right here in Partytown
(Yeah, yeah)
They really party down
(Yeah, yeah)
Man, it's a party town
(Yeah, yeah)
You know they all got their own
And they pass it all around
Well, I'm burnin' like a blowtorch in my prime
Everybody here is a friend of mine
I met a little girl a couple shooters ago
She's teachin' me everything I don't know
About Partytown
(Yeah, yeah)
They really party down
(Yeah, yeah)
You know they love to ball
They do it in the hall
Right here in Partytown
Partytown
(Yeah, yeah)
Partytown
(Yeah, yeah)
Partytown
(Yeah, yeah)
Partytown
(Yeah, yeah)
Oh, Partytown
We're so cool
You got any? Yeah
Meet you in the john, woo hoo hoo
I sure feel good, some party
Look at all the people lined up outside,
This must be the place
I see beautiful women dressed in black,
everyone a pretty face
Red lips, tight hips, hey little girl
You make my heart do flips
Baby please, don't tease, can't you see
I love you I'm on my knees
Something is wrong with this picture
She doesn't like the way I dance
Why is everybody just standin' around
lookin' for true romance
I'm looking at you and what do I see
Love in the 21st Century
I know what you're thinking
What's in it for me?
That's love in the 21st Century,
Love in the 21st Century
Tell me do I look like a desperate man
Champagne and flowers in my hand
I don't know her, she don't know me
She's my video date, she's my destiny
Do you like to party? (yeh, yeh, yeh)
Do you want to settle down? (no, no, no)
Do you like my kind of music? (yeh, yeh, yeh)
Do you wanna mess around? (whoa, whoa, whoa)
Something is wrong with this picture
She doesn't even look the same
Whatever a poor boy does these days
Love is still a losing game
I'm looking at you, you're looking at me
It's love in the 21st Century
We're living in pictures, we want what we see
That's love in the 21st Century
Where do you go? What do you do?
How can somebody make his dreams come true?
What does everybody need desperately?
Love in the 21st Century, love in the 21st Century
She wants to party, love on the line
She likes to party, love on the line
It's the same sad story all over this world
Every man looking for the perfect girl
He sees her everyday in a magazine
Sees her everynight on a T.V. screen
Something is wrong with this picture
Has everybody gone insane?
Whatever a poor boy does these days
You can't find love and it's a cryin' shame
I can't touch you and you can't touch me
It's love in the 21st Century
It's all imagination and fantasy
That's love in the 21st Century
You can get it by mail, you can get it by phone
You can get it late at night when you're all alone
What does everybody want desperately?
Love in the 21st Century
We need love in the 21st Century

I've been born again
I'm a brand new man (kind of brand new)
I've been born again
Saturday night in the city
Parties on every block
It's a temptation for a man who loves to party
But my party days had to stop
So brothers you can keep your street life
Changin' women like you change your clothes
Cause every woman I need, she's wrapped up in one
My love just grows and grows
Well a whole lot of women is an ego trip
I'd rather spend my time kissin' baby's sweet lips
I've been born again (There's a change in me)
I've been born again (I said a change, a change)
I've been born again (There's a change in me)
I've been born again (I said a change, a change)
Oh, I'm not a casanova
My playin' days are over
I think I'm gonna start me a fire
Got my matchbox in my hand
Burnin' up the pages in my little black book
Start my life all over again
I don't need no women in excess
I can't afford to spread my lovin' around
Cause when my woman, she's needin' me by her side
I just don't wanna let her down
Well a whole lot of women is an ego trip
I'd rather spend my time kissin' baby's sweet lips
I've been born again (There's a change in me)
I've been born again (I said a change, a change)
I've been born again (There's a change in me)
I've been born again (I said a change, a change)
Oh, I'm not a casanova
My playin' days are over
Now I don't need a lot of women
Just to prove my manhood
I got me one special woman
So I can be the man that I should
Well a whole lot of women is an ego trip
I'd rather spend my time kissin' baby's sweet lips
I've been born again (There's a change in me)
I've been born again (I said a change, a change)
I've been born again (There's a change in me)
Baby, I been thinkin' about you
I couldn't get to sleep last night
Maybe I been too long without you
I'm tryin' but it just ain't right
I know that I did you wrong
I can't get it out of my mind
I know that I said that I'm sorry before
But I beg you to listen this time
Don't give up
Countin' on you
Don't give up
If you still love me too
Don't give up
We can make it somehow
Don't give up
Don't give up on us now
Baby, I heard all about him
But I don't want to know his name
And maybe you got reason to doubt him
I know his lovin' ain't the same
I think about you at night
I can't get you off of my mind
I know that I said that I'm sorry before
But I beg you to listen this time
Don't give up
Countin' on you
Don't give up
If you still love me too
Don't give up
We can make it somehow
Don't give up
Don't give up on us now
Baby, I know you can hear me
We gotta give it one more try
Maybe we thought it was over
But this love's too strong to die
I need you to come back home
I'm layin' it all on the line
I know that I said that I'm sorry before
But I beg you to listen this time
Don't give up
Countin' on you
Don't give up
If you still love me too
Don't give up
We can make it somehow
Don't give up
Don't give up on us now
Well they look to the east, they look to the west
The third world wonders, which way's the best?
We got freedom, we got soul
We got blue jeans and rock 'n' roll
Man, there ain't no choice, it's better in the U.S.A.
(It's better in the U.S.A.)
You can be what you want, say what you wanna say
(It's better in the U.S.A.)
How can I make you understand, it's better in the U.S.A.?
(It's better in the U.S.A.)
I hear the same propaganda day after day
It's gettin' so hip to knock the U.S.A.
If we're so awful and we're so bad
You oughta check the night life in Leningrad
Man, it ain't even close, it's better in the U.S.A.
(It's better in the U.S.A.)
If you could see behind the curtain life is cold and gray
(It's better in the U.S.A.)
How can I make you understand, it's better in the U.S.A.?
(It's better, it's better)
I think I'll play
Nobody's perfect and change comes slow
It's really up to you which way you wanna go
You can lean to the left and lean to the right
You can stand in the dark, you can stand in the light
Drivin' on the beach on a night in June
Me and my baby in the lover's moon
They're playin' sweet soul music, got it turned up loud
Make me feel so good, make me feel so proud
Man, there ain't no choice, it's better in the U.S.A.
(It's better in the U.S.A.)
Well they'd be movin' here from Moscow if they could only find a way
(It's better in the U.S.A.)
How can I make you understand, it's better in the U.S.A.? Baby, baby
(It's better)
We got the burgers and fries in the U.S.A.
We got the friendly skies in the U.S.A.
We got the beautiful girls in the U.S.A.
Got the beautiful curls in the U.S.A.
We're drivin' beautiful cars in the U.S.A.
We're diggin' movie stars in the U.S.A.
We get to make romance in the U.S.A.
Let the little girl dance in the U.S.A.
It's better, baby, nice sweater, baby
What do you say you and me go for a little drive?
Come on
I woke up shakin' in a cold, cold sweat
I got so much goin' on, what did I forget?
I know there's somethin', but it got so late
I need someone to help me get my story straight
Who told shorty? Who told you?
And who else knows about the things I do?
It's my own business, it's my own fun
So don't you breathe a word of this to anyone
All those lies, I hope I can remember
All those lies, I'm a bad pretender
All those lies, comin' back to haunt me
All those lies, I get the feeling like they want me
Listen, baby, you can take my word
Don't you believe a single lie you've heard
They're all out to get me and then get you
There's just no tellin' what these kind of people will do
They're sayin' certain things behind my back
I can't believe you'd listen to those one eyed jacks
They look you in the eye, say it with a smile
They wanna see you sad and lonely all the while
All those lies, I hope I can remember
All those lies, I'm a bad pretender
All those lies, It's a bad situation
All those lies, try'n' to ruin my reputation
There's some bad wheels in motion, try'n' to run us down
Spreadin' dirty lies in this dirty little town
Ooh baby, you know I wouldn't dare
You know how much I love you, you know how much I care
All those lies, I hope I can remember
All those lies, I'm a bad pretender
All those lies, It's a bad situation
The heat is on, on the street
Inside your head, on every beat
And the beat's so loud, deep inside
The pressure's high, just to stay alive
'Cause the heat is on
Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you
Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on
Oh it's on the street , the heat is - on
(repeat chorus)
The shadows high on the darker side
Behind those doors, it's a wilder ride
You can make a break, you can win or lose
That's a chance you take, when the heat's on you
When the heat is on
(repeat chorus)
It's on the street
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is
on
Yeah it's on the street
The heat is on
There's a lover's moon tonight
As I look back over my shoulder
All the stars are shining bright
Just like the nights when I used to hold her
She's out there somewhere under the lover's moon
Lover's moon, won't you shine on me?
I'm dancing with a memory
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have one last chance to hold her tight
Waiting, I know she's waiting
I know she waits for me under the lover's moon
There's a lover's moon tonight
Shining down on half of this world
So many souls are in its light
But for me there is just one girl
And she's waiting, I know she's waiting
I know she waits for me under the lover's moon
The sun goes down, the night rolls in
You can feel it starting all over again
The moon comes up and the music calls
You're gettin' tired of starin' at the same four walls
You're out of your room and down on the street
Movin' through the crowd and the midnight heat
The traffic crawls, the sirens scream
You look at the faces, it's just like a dream
Nobody knows where you're goin'
Nobody cares where you've been
'Cause you belong to the city
You belong to the night
Livin' in a river of darkness
Beneath the neon lights
You were born in the city
Concrete under your feet
It's in your moves, it's in your blood
You're a man of the street
When you said goodbye, you were on the run
Tryin' to get away from the things you've done
Now you're back again and you're feeling strange
So much has happened but nothing has changed
You still don't know where you're goin'
You're still just a face in the crowd
You belong to the city
You belong to the night
Livin' in a river of darkness
Beneath the neon lights
You were born in the city
Concrete under your feet
It's in your blood, it's in your moves
You're a man of the street
You can feel it, you can taste it
You can see it, you can face it
You can hear it, hey, you're getting near it, hey
You wanna make it, 'cause you can take it
You belong to the city, you belong to the night
You belong to the city, you belong to the night
You belong
I get up on Monday and I work all day
I go 'til Friday when I get my pay
I'm a long, long way from the promised land
I'm just a working man
It ain't so bad in this factory town
I drink with my buddies when the sun go down
Some of you people may not understand
No, no, I'm just a working man
I'm just a working man
I'm a working man, that's what I do
I'm a working man just like you
I'm a working man, I know who I am
I sweat for my money and I work with my hands
Working man, working man
Working man, I'm just a working man
Hear me people, I'm just a working man
Only one way to beat the small town blues
Take off your boots, put on your rock 'n' roll shoes
Come over there, baby 'cause I've got something to say
We're gonna rock our troubles away
I'm a working man
I'm a working man
You've got to understand
I'm just a working man
Working man, I'm a working man
Working man, I'm just a working man
They looked into each other's eyes and saw an answer
Some call it fate, some call it destiny but they believed
That it was more than just a chance they had to take
They only knew that it was meant to be
He looked into the night to try to find a place to hide
She made excuses to the ones who said they cared
They fell into each other's arms, they knew the passion
This is the night they do what only lovers dare
They got two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Two lovers tryin' to make it as one
Two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Tonight, they're gonna do what must be done
What must be done
The night is filled with every kind of new emotion
With every moment comes a chance they might delay
Congratulations to the ones who said they loved her
No consolation to the ones who stayed away
Why must young lovers always hide what should be natural?
Why must they always do what others tell them to?
They'll find a place to hide, a place to take their passion
They'll find a way to do what only lovers do
'Cause they got two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Two lovers tryin' to make it as one
Two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Tonight they're gonna do what must be done
'Cause they got two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Two lovers tryin' to make it as one
Two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Tonight they're gonna do what must be done
I love you, yes I do
Love me too
They got two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Two lovers tryin' to make it as one
Two hearts beatin' louder than thunder
Tonight they're gonna do what must be done
'Cause they got two hearts, two hearts
Two hearts, two hearts
They got two hearts, baby
They're beatin' louder, louder, louder
Out of the blue, out of the night
You came along and you changed my life
I'm feeling things I swear I never felt before
You looked at me, that's all it took
You read my heart like an open book
Well, it was true love, right from the start
It was true love, straight from my heart
It was true love, ain't no doubt about it, baby
True love, I can't live without it
Before I met you baby, I was alone
Thought I was happy livin' on my own
But now I realize
This world was made for two, like me and you
With you by my side, everything's fine
There ain't no mountain, sugar, we can't climb
We got a true love, that's all we need
Is a true love, it's got a lifetime guarantee
It's a true love, so hard to find baby
True love, put your heart on the line now
True love, makes every day a little brighter
True love, makes every burden just a little lighter
True love, it'll make you be a better man
If you had true love, you'd understand
Out of the blue, out of the night
You came along and you changed my life
You got me feeling things, I swear I never felt before
You lift me up, you make me strong
You give me lovin' lastin' all night long
It's a true love, right from the start
It's a true love, comin' straight from my heart
True love, need you here beside me baby
True love, need your love to guide me
True love, I can't deny this feelin' no, no matter how hard I try
True love, I just know what I feel
And it's a true love
She's my baby, she's my girl
She changed my life, oh, she changed my world
She's my buttercup, oh, fill me up, woo yeah
Talkin' about love, talkin' about love
It's gotta be a true love
True love
True love
Lonely girl, rainy night
Lookin' for that number
She needs someone to treat her right
There's plenty of men she could call
But she wants him most of all
Oh God, I hope he's home tonight
She needs a love from a real exciter
She needs the allnighter, the allnighter
He's the one, the one she calls
When she gets that feeling
Some nights she just can't stop herself
He's tough and tender, a soul bender
Ain't no service he can't render
He touches her like nobody else
He brings out the love, love
Love deep inside her, he's the allnighter
Now when all the stimulation
Let's you down, down, down
And there ain't no medication
Layin' around, 'round, 'round
You feel your little heart
Begin to pound and pound
He's a satisfier of that one desire
Other guys come and go
They may try but they don't know
Every girl needs special care
Oh, he's so bad, he's so good
He makes it feel just the way it should
Nobody else can take her there
He's the real thing, the pure delighter
He's the allnighter, the allnighter
It's getting lighter
Here we are on a summer night, staring at the sea
Tell me, is there something wrong? You know, you can talk to me
I can hear it in your voice, I can see it in your eyes
There's a stillness in the air that makes me wanna cry
Strange weather, dark clouds in the sky
Strange weather for you and I
We've been through so much together but nothing quite like this
Something's come between us now, I can feel it in your kiss
So tell me girl what's in your heart, just put your hand in mine
I feel the storm is coming soon and we're running out of time
Strange weather, somehow we'll survive
Strange weather, we'll keep our love alive
Strange weather, dark clouds in the sky
Strange weather for you and I
So think it over one last time, don't say this is the end
'Cause I remember how it used to be and it could be that way again
Strange weather, somehow we'll survive
Strange weather, we'll keep our love alive
Strange weather, dark clouds in the sky
I wonder why you want me back
I wonder what it's all about
Why the sudden heart attack
Ever since the lights went out?
Now you're coming here with your master plan
That look in your eyes, holding out your hand
But I know you, I don't think you've changed
Everything about you still seems the same
You're living in darkness
You're living in the past
Living in darkness
Your dream is fading fast, hey
You had a chance to make it right
Long before the stormy night
You didn't make the best of me
You didn't really want to see
Now you tell me the reason and the rhyme
Can't we get together just one more time?
You can say where, you can say when
There's no fooling me, it's the same thing again
You're living in darkness
You're living in the past
Living in darkness
Your dream is fading fast
You didn't want this love of mine
You didn't want the sun to shine
There was a time when we stood side by side
Now there's nowhere to run and there's nowhere to hide
Nowhere to hide
Nowhere to hide
You're living in darkness
Living, living, ooh, ooh, ooh
You're living in darkness
Living, living, ooh, ooh, ooh
You're living in darkness
Living, living, ooh, ooh, ooh
You're living in darkness
I'm outside runnin' in the mornin' sun
No matter what it takes, I know I'm gonna get it done
I'm pushin' up the hill, fightin' through the pain
Everything to lose, everything to gain
I know I'm on my way, I'm on my way to number one
Feelin' good, gettin' tight
'Cause I'm livin' right, livin' right
Up in the mornin', asleep at night
I'm livin' right, livin' right
I was livin' in the past, holdin' on to yesterday, yeah
I knew it wouldn't last, I had to find a better way, uh, huh
I had to see the truth, I had to face the facts
I'm givin' something up, I'm gettin' somethin' back
I know I'm gettin' close, a little closer every day
I look at the future, the future looks bright
'Cause I'm livin' right, livin' right
Out of the darkness and into the light
I'm livin' right, livin' right, livin', livin' right
You're never gonna make it stayin' on the road you're on
The medicine you're takin' isn't gonna last you long
If you really want it, man, you gotta want it bad, so bad
Nothin' feels better than reachin' for the top
Once you get started you ain't never gonna wanna stop
I'm outside runnin' in the mornin' sun
No matter what it takes, I know I'm gonna get it done
I finally took a chance, I never thought I would
I'm through with feelin' bad, I'm into feelin' good
I'm goin' all the way, all the way to number one
Out of the darkness and into the light
I'm livin' right, livin' right
I look at the future, the future looks bright
'Cause I'm livin' right, livin' right
Livin', oh yes I am
Livin', oh yes I am
Livin', ohh, ooh
Someone's sleeping on the sidewalk
As the winter sun goes down
Someone's drinking cold champagne
In another part of town
And the only thing he thinks about
As he sips his glass of wine
"It sure feels good sitting here tonight
Now that I've got mine"
I've got mine, I've got mine
This isn't such a bitter world
'Cause I've got mine
Someone's wandering the streets tonight
No way to warm his hands
Someone's turning up their fireplace
Making travel plans
His mind is on some sandy beach
Where the sun is gonna shine
He thinks, "I don't have to hang around
Now that I've got mine"
You see them in their limousines
You see the way they stare
But they don't see us looking back
Because they don't really care
They say, "I've got mine, I've got mine
The world is as it's meant to be
'Cause I've got mine"
So I make a small donation
What more can I do?
You know I didn't make this world
I'm in it just like you
I've worked all my life on this house of cards
To keep it all in line
I can't take care of everyone
Now that I've got mine
There's another kind of poverty
That only rich men know
A moral malnutrition
That starves their very souls
And they can't be saved by money
They're all running out of time
And all the while they're thinkin'
"It's okay 'cause I've got mine"
I've got mine, I've got mine
I don't want a thing to change
'Cause I've got mine
I volunteer to drive you home
To spend some time with you alone
But the words don't come that I wanna say
And the precious time just slips away
'Cause you don't know
You don't know that it's me
Who really loves you so desperately
If I could only make you hear, I'd volunteer
I volunteer to stop somewhere
And talk about your love affairs
We'll laugh together like best friends
But I hate to see these moments end
'Cause you still don't know
You don't know that it's me
Who really loves you so desperately
If I could only make you hear, I'd volunteer
Well I volunteer the love I kept inside so long
I search in your eyes for the moment
But it never seems to come
We talk all night and forget the time
But I never say what's on my mind
And when you're gone all that I wish
Is I'd said it all with just a kiss
'Cause you still don't know
You don't know that it's me
Who really loves you so desperately
If I could only make you hear, I'd volunteer
I never thought it could happen
It was the furthest thing from my mind
I just turned my back on a sad love affair
Was tryin' to leave it all behind
That's when I met you
I just couldn't say no
One look in your eyes
And I said, here I go
I found somebody
I found somebody to love
I found somebody
I found somebody to love
I'd seen so much deceivin'
I almost stopped believin'
I'd ever fall in love again
I was runnin' around hidin' my heart
Fakin' it with all of my friends
I was down on my luck
That's when you came along
You put me back on my feet
You got me singin' this song
I found somebody
I found somebody to love
I found somebody
I found somebody to love
And she loves me in the midnight hour
You know ever since I found you
And put my arms around you
I don't need a doggone thing
You know that every day is such a beautiful day
I want the whole world to dance and sing
So don't you dare hang your head
Don't you dare be blue
If it can happen to me, it can happen to you
And you'll be singin' this song
I found somebody
I found somebody to love
I found somebody
I found somebody to love
I found somebody
I found somebody to love
I found somebody
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You've been out riding fences, for so long now
Oh you're a hard one but I know you got your reasons
These things that are pleasing you can hurt you somehow
Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy, she'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet
Now it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get
Desperado, oh, you ain't getting no younger
Your pain and your hunger they're driving you home
And freedom, oh freedom, well, that's just some people talking
Your prison is walking through this world all alone
Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow, and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time, from the day
You're losing all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses
Come down from your fences and open the gate?
It may be raining, oh raining but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, let somebody love you
She walked in, I had to know her name
She looked at me, and then my whole world changed
She was fine and innocent
Looking so soft and sweet
She was so delectable, good enough to eat
She's delicious, watch her walk
My mouth waters when I hear her talk
Long legs and a pretty face
Come on Honey, I want a taste
I've been going hungry for way too long
I'm a starving man, you know I'm not that strong
Chocolate soda, banana split
Bar-B-Q roasting on an open pit
Sweet juices running down your fingertips
It's nothing like the taste of your sweet lips
Delicious, yes indeed
Your honey love is all I need
One kiss and I will be alright
Come on cookie, just one more bite
Delicious
It's not the way she dresses
Or the smell of her perfume
That makes the boys go crazy
When she walks in a room
You can't put your finger on it
You just know how bad you want it
To get a taste of her fine champagne
You'd walk ten miles in the pouring rain
Delicious, watch her walk
I can't breathe, I can't talk
Long legs and a pretty face
Come on honey, gimme one more taste
Delicious, yes indeed
Your honey love is all I need
What a thrill when you hold me tight
Come on cookie, just one more bite
Delicious
You know I've been wishin'
For some love nutrition
Some one to hold on at night
Please allow me to introduce myself
Although you probably know my name
You may have seen me in the tabloids darlin'
I'm a player in the game
I own this airline and a baseball team
I started out with nothing, just a dream
Now I'm worth millions, what can I say?
Then I meet a pretty girl like you
It must be my lucky day
Big life, goin' in style
Big life, drivin' me wild
Big life, I'm telling you true
I've got a big old life but I've got room for you
Right now we're flying over some land I own
Yeah, that's Aspen right down there
I go skiing there at Christmas time
With Don and Jack and Cher
Hey, maybe when we get to LA, honey
You'd like to come along with me
And watch me spend my money
You can use my limousine to pick up all your friends
We'll meet at my house in the hills
Where the party never ends
Big life, I just can't stop
Big life, I wanna stay on top
Big life, goin' in style
Sometimes you've got to get away for a while
I'll take you to my beach house in Hawaii
We'll find some peace, just you, my staff and I
No need to be so wary, it isn't necessary
You see I'm just an ordinary guy
With a big life, I'm a man on the move
Big life, I got something to prove
Big life, I can stand on my own
I'm so misunderstood, I'm so alone
They say that I'm in trouble now
They say I'm on the run
They say my stock is going down
But I'm still having fun
I can take pressure, I can stand the heat
I say I'm still the man, I still compete
I'm calling all the shots, I'm still the boss
I'm suing everyone, I don't care what it costs
Big life, took me for a ride
Big life, I got nowhere to hide
Big life, you better be tough
Big life, I've had enough
Yeah, I got a big life, alright
It certainly takes up all of my time
By the way, you wanna get into the movies?
You know, that's gonna be my next big life
Yeah, we're goin' out there to set up the deal
Do you work out?
You look like the kind of girl who works out, I like that
Stewardess, would you get me another gin and tonic?
Bring the little girl whatever she wants
Now, where I was I?
Oh yeah, Hollywood
You know, the first time I went to Hollywood was 19, 20 years ago
You were just a twinkle in your mama's eye then
This might be my last party, might be my last night
So come on pretty baby let's do it right
Let's fill up the wagon, let's go downtown
Let's find all our old buddies before the ship goes down
Hey let's throw a party, way into the night
I wanna play the blues 'til the morning light
One thing I know baby, the brass ring's comin' around
Let's grab it one more time before the ship goes down
There's no tomorrow, we all know that
So grab your coat, put on your hat
It's one for the money and two for the show
Your time is up are you ready to go?
I don't wanna argue, I don't wanna fight
I just wanna go dancin' with you tonight
See everybody happy, everybody have another round
Let's sing that song one more time before the ship goes down
The water's rough, it's a stormy sea
Before you know it we'll be history
This is it, so light me up
Come on baby fill my lovin' cup
If somebody told you this was your last night
Wouldn't you want somebody to treat you right
Throw you a party, take you for a ride downtown
And be with all your old friends before the ship goes down?
Oh, the good life, full of fun seems to be the ideal
Mmm, the good life lets you hide all the sadness you feel
You won't really fall in love for you can't take the chance
So please be honest with yourself, don't try to fake romance
It's the good life to be free to explore the unknown
Like the heartaches when you learn you must face them alone
Please remember I still want you and in case you wonder why
One day we walked along the sand
One day in early Spring
You held a piper in your hand
To mend its' broken wing
Now I remember many a day
And many a lonely mile
The echo of a piper's song
The shadow of a smile
The shadow of your smile
When you are gone.
Will colour all my dreams
And light the dawn.
Look into my eyes, my love, and see
All the lovely things you are to me.
Our wistful little star
Was far too high.
A teardrop kissed your lips,
And so did I.
Now when I remember spring,
All the joy that love can bring,
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile.
Now when I remember spring,
All the joy that love can bring,
I will be remembering
It's long after midnight and the city sleeps
We're driving alone through the park
Somehow I just don't feel like going home
Let's take a walk in the dark
Don't be afraid of what you can't see
Follow the road in your heart
Don't be afraid you'll be safe with me
Let's take a walk in the dark
There's not one soul in the park
Let's take a walk in the dark
This is the way I want to dance with you
Silhouettes beneath the moon and stars
This is the night I've always dreamed about
Let's take a walk in the dark
I wrap my arms around you
Your heart beats next to mine
I can feel you breathing
In and out of time
Feel the gentle motion
Softness of your skin
Surrender to the rapture deep within
There's not one soul in the park
Let's take a walk in the dark
Follow the road in your heart
Let's take a walk in the dark
A walk in the dark
He dreams of love
Desperado
Desperado
Why don't you come to your senses?
You've been out riding fences, for so long now
Oh you're a hard one
But I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasing you
Can hurt you somehow
Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always, your best bet
And it seems to me some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones
That you can't get
Desperado
Oh, you ain't getting no younger
And your pain and your hunger
They're driving you home
And Freedom, oh and Freedom
Well, that's just some people talking
Your prison is walking through this world all alone
Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow, and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time, from the day
And you're losing all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes
Away
Desperado
Why don't you come to your senses
Come down from your fences
And open the gate?
It may be raining
But there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
(Let somebody love you)
You better let somebody love you
We'll get some overhead lifters, and four barrel quads, oh yeah
Keep talkin', whoah keep talkin'
Fuel injection cut off, and chrome plated rods, oh yeah
I'll get the money, I'll kill to get the money
With a four-speed on the floor, They'll be waitin' at the door
You know that it's the shit, we'll be gettin' lots of tit in greased lightnin'
Chorus:Go, greased lightnin', you're burnin' up the quarter mile
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
Go, greased lightnin', you're costin' through the heat lap trial
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
You are supreme, the chicks all scream for greased lightnin'
We'll get some purple french taillights and thirty inch fins, oh yeah
A palomina dashboard and duel muffler twins, oh yeah
With new pistons, pulgs and shocks, I can get off my rocks
You know that I ain't braggin', she's a real pussy wagon - greased lightnin'
Go, greased lightnin', you're burnin' up the quarter mile
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
Go, greased lightnin', you're costin' through the heat lap trial
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
I should have known from the start
He'd find a way to your heart
He said that he was a friend
That was a lie in the end
He told you I was untrue
Then took advantage of you
He looked you right in the eyes
And told those beautiful lies
The way he made you feel
You thought his love was real
He was too good to be true
He took advantage of you
It's a lowdown dirty shame he doesn't have to pay
For being so deceitful and treating us this way
He used us and betrayed us and made it seem alright
And he turned his back on everyone
I don't know how he sleeps at night, yeah
And now he's walking away
He doesn't care what we say
We weren't too hard to deceive
We wanted so to believe
He was too good to be true
He took advantage of you
Advantage of you
Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee, Lousy with virginity
Won't go to bed till I'm legally wed, I can't, I'm Sandra Dee
Watch it, hey, I'm Doris Day, I was not brought up that way
Won't come across even Rock Hudson lost his heart to Doris Day
I don't drink, or swear, I don't rat my hair, I get ill from one cigarette
Keep your filthy paws off my silky drawers, would you pull that crap with Annette?
As for you, Troy Donohue, I know what you wanna do,
You got your crust, I'm no object of lust, I'm just plain Sandra Dee
Elvis, Elvis, let me be, Keep that pelvis far from me
Just keep your cool now you're starting to drool
Fangool
I spend my days just mooning, so sad and blue, so sad and blue
I spend my nights just mooning, all over you (all over who?)
Oh I'm so full of love, as any fool can see
Cause ages up above, have hung the moon on me
(Why must you go) why must I go on mooning, so all alone (so all alone)
There would be no (there would be no) more mooning, if you would call me
(I've found a phone)
I'm lying by myself in bed, I cry and give myself the red eyeMooning over you
I'll stay behind (you'll stay behind) you mooning forevermore (forevermore)
Someday you'll find (someday we'll find) me mooning at your front door
(at my front door)Oh, everyday at school I want ya, always will until I got ya
Your story's sad to tell, a teenage ne'er-do-well
Most mixed up non-delinquent on the block
Your future's so unclear now, what's left of your career now
Can't even get a trade-in on your smock
Beauty school drop-out, no graduation day for you
Beauty school drop-out, missed your midterms and flunked shampoo
Well at least you could have taken time to wash and clean your clothes up
After spending all that dough to have the doctor fix your nose up
Baby get moving (better get moving), why keep your feeble hopes alive
What are you proving (what are you proving)?
You've got the dream, but not the drive
If you go for your diploma, you could join a steno pool
Turn in your teasin' comb and go back to highschool
Beauty school drop-out, hangin' around the corner store
Beauty school drop-out, it's about time you knew the score
Well they couldn't teach you anything, you think you're such a looker
But no customer would go to you, unless she was a hooker
Baby don't sweat it (don't sweat it), you're not cut out to hold the job
Better forget it (forget it), who wants their hair done by a slob
Now your bangs are curled, your lashes twirled, and still the world is cruel
Wipe off that angel face and go back to highschool
Baby don't blow it, don't put my good advice to shame
Baby you know it, even Dear Abby's say the same
Now I've called the shot, get off the pot, I really gotta fly
Gotta be goin' to that maltshop in the sky
Beauty school drop-out, go back to highschool
Beauty school drop-out, go back to highschool
New love is calling me
Old love has set me free
Old love is just some tears I cried
New love is walking by my side
And it's so right and it's so fine
It's new love and it's mine, all mine
I've been walking down the same old street
Going nowhere, shuffling my feet
The lonely nights never seemed to end
There was just no reason to start again
But now, new love is calling me
Old love has set me free
Old love is just some tears I cried
New love is walking by my side
And it's all I want, yes indeed
It's new love and it's all I need
She said, "You need me and I need you"
And she knows how it feels 'cause she's been there too
She took my hand and the pain was gone
She gave me hope and a brand new song
New love is calling me
Old love has set me free
Old love is just some tears I cried
New love is walking by my side
New love is calling me
Old love has set me free
Old love is just a memory
New love is calling me
It's calling me, it's calling me
It? s calling me, it? s calling me
Calling me, calling me
Freddy my love, I miss you more than words can say (wo-oh-oh-oh)
Freddy my love, please keep in touch while you're away (oh-oh-oh-oh)
Hearing from you can make the day so much better
Getting a souvenir or maybe a letter
I really flipped over the gray cashmere sweater
Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my Lo-ve
Freddy you know, your absense makes me feel so blue (So-oh-oh blue)
That's okay though, your presents make me think of you (ye-es they do)
My mom will have a heart-attack when she catches
Those pedal pushers with the black leather patches
Oh how I wish I had a jacket that matches,
Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my lo-ve
Bridge:
Don't keep your letters from me, I thrill to every line
Your spelling's kinda crummy, but honey so is mine
I treasure every gifty, the ring is really nifty
You say it cost you fifty, so you're thrifty, I don't mind
Whoa - Freddy you see, you'll hold me in your arms someday (Freddy my love)
And I will be wearing your lacy lingerie (Freddy I'm yours)
Thinking about it, my heart's pounding already
Knowing when you come home, we're bound to go steady
And throw your service pay around like confetti,
Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love
Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love
Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love
Raindrops fallin' on these hills tonight
I've been drivin' since the mornin' light
It won't be long before those headlights shine
And I'll be missin' that girl of mine
Yesterday, I was safe and warm
Yesterday, I held her in my arms
Now the raindrops fallin'
And I feel like callin'
That Girl
Well there ain't no explainin' what she does for me
It might be somethin' only I can see
Understanding in a quiet way
Undemanding and I got to say
I'm in love, and I know it's for sure
I'm in love, I can't stop thinking of her
Now the raindrops fallin'
And I feel like callin'
That girl
Well I've been callin' that girl for such a long long time
I can't get through, I'm 'bout to lose my mind
I got so much to tell her, I got so much to say
Ooh, I'm gonna love her till my dyin' day
Oh, I'm in love, and I know it's for sure
I'm in love, I can't stop thinking of her
now the raindrops fallin'
I feel like callin'
Raindrops fallin'
I feel like callin'
Raindrops fallin'
And I feel like callin'
That girl
Woke up this morning with the smile on my face
Sat up in bed and looked around this old place
Opened the window, let the sun shine in
You see, me and my baby, we're back together again
Jumped on the freeway with this song in my head
I started thinkin' 'bout the things we said
I said I'm sorry, she said I'm sorry too
You know I can't be happy unless I'm happy with you
I got love, it's my lucky day
I got love, gonna keep it that way
It's the sweetest gift from the heavens above
I got you, baby, I got love
No more staring at my blue telephone
No more pretending I like being alone
No more searching when the workday's done
I get back on the freeway, head on home to number one
I got love, she's waiting for me
I got love, she's sweet as can be
She's the greatest gift from the heavens above
Ow, baby, I got love, babe, alright, oh
When you've got love, you got to walk like a man
You've got to bend, you've got to understand
It won't be easy, no, no, that's not in the plan
But if it ain't all honey, still it's right on the money
Yeah, I got love, I'm happy to say
I got love, it's stronger each day
It's the sweetest gift from the powers above
I got you, baby and I know I got love
I got love, I got love
Every night and every day
Out on the blue horizon, the clouds were rollin' in
The ground below was shaking, with the risin' wind
I looked over my shoulder, said goodbye to my home
After today there'd be no turning back, we were on our own
Everyone had taken sides, the battle lines were drawn
We stared into the face of war, and waited for the dawn
Everything that we worked for, they took from our hands
We were left with no choice but to stand up and fight for this land
But don't worry darlin', this will all be over soon
Just remember you will always be my girl,
And somehow you will find the strength
To stand up on your own
And live in this brave new world
How it all came down to this, no one can really say
Every time we cried out for help, they looked the other way
Now there's no turning back, we have got to be strong
We will travel the hard road to freedom, no matter how long
But don't worry darlin', this will all be over soon
Just remember you will always be my girl
These are the times we're born into
This is why we're here
Wonderin' how to cross the river
On a cold and windy night
With the water ragin' higher
By the moon's shinin' light
Suddenly a man stepped forward
And he looked at all around
He said, "We all must cross this river
We all stand on common ground"
Though I was standin' amongst strangers
I did not know their names
I realized they were with me
And our journey was the same
As he spoke out loud, I looked around me
I could see they knew it, too
We would cross or die together
No one man could make it through
There was shelter across the river
Across the water deep and black
As a storm moved in behind us,
There was no way to turn back
So I stepped right up beside him
And took one last look around
That before my eyes I realized,
We all stand on common ground
We all stand on common ground
So many years have come and gone
Since we crossed that river wide
When I look back on that night
It still moves me so inside
This world today is like that river
Its water cold and black
We all must cross together,
For there is no turnin' back
For the mountain high or a city street,
It's the same old world below our feet
It's time to wake up, people, and take a look around
We all stand on common ground
It's time for every woman and every man
And hold the future in our hands
Wake up and look around,
We all stand on common ground
On a dark December morning
When the sun refused to shine
Spent another sleepless night
Got so much on my mind
Think I finally know what's wrong
I think I've gotta leave this place behind
So I said wake up, Linda,
I've had a dream
I dreamed we moved away from here
To a place I'd never seen
Where the nights were long and cold
And the air was fresh and clean.
And there we were standing
Underneath the western sky
Beside a home we built ourselves
Way up in the mountains high
And we lived happy there, just you and I
On a river of dreams
There's no need to worry now
Cause I've got a plan
We don't need this modern world
I'm not a modern man
We're gonna get ourselves off these city streets
We're gonna get back on the land
There's a whole lot of people out there
Feel just like you and me
They'd love to pack their leavin' trucks
And say goodbye to all their misery
What'd ya say we pack up that Camaro, honey
And chase the sun until we're free
And if I could I'd lift you up on angel wings
We'd fly away and never worry about a thing
We'd know the joy and riches a simple life can bring
On a river of dreams, on a river of dreams
So get your things together now
I'll be getting mine
I've finally got the feeling girl
The sun is gonna shine
You know people don't run out of dreams
People just run out of time
Let's find that place out there
Underneath the western sky
We'll build a home ourselves
Way up in the mountains high
We'll live happy there 'til the day we die
On a river of dreams
And we'll have stars to wish on every single night
We'll build a fire and make love by candlelight
We'll do our moondance 'til we get it right
On a river of dreams, on a river of dreams
I can see us standing by the river
Way outta town on some midnight highway
Headed nowhere, was just drivin' by myself
The night was cold, the wind was blowin'
Me, I felt like I was someone else
I was achin', I was alone
No destination, so far away from home
Suddenly I find myself callin' to the heavens above
Please send me someone to love
Which way to happiness? Over the mountain
Which way to freedom? Just across the sea
Lord, I been searchin' for what seems like forever, now
Which way to happiness for someone like me?
It seems like I spend my whole life runnin'
Runnin' away from what I couldn't be
Down some endless road just south of nowhere
Always movin' but never really free
I had a dream, I said a prayer
Just like the answer, you were standin' there
The neon sign that was fifteen stories tall
I could hear the angels call
This way to happiness, the train is leavin'
Over the mountain, headin' to sea
Highway to freedom is when you start believin'
This way to happiness, you and me
I've rolled this rig from coast to coast
I've seen alot, I've done more than most
I was like a sailor lost at sea
When, like an angel from above, you came down and rescued me
This way to happiness, the train is leavin'
Over the mountain, headin' to sea
Highway to freedom is when you start believin'
Well, I finally got your letter today
I think I understand what you had to say
Your message came through loud and clear
You gotta get away from me and away from here
Tell myself I'm over you, then I'm just a liar
'Cause every time I think of you, fills me with desire
Love is like a burnin' flame, keeps on gettin' higher
And I can't put out this fire
Well, I don't know what went wrong with you and me
Sometimes you get so close, you just can't see
Now I'm out here standing in the rain
Thinkin' 'bout us and living with the pain
If I could only talk to you, then you'd understand
If I could hold you close to me, you'd know I'm still your man
Love is like a burnin' flame, keeps on gettin' higher
And I can't put out this fire
Can't put out this fire
You know, breakin' up is harder than it sounds
People leave, but love still hangs around
Memories refuse to go away
They follow you and haunt you night and day
Love like ours will never die, can't put out this fire
'Cause when I think of you and I, fills me with desire
Love is like burnin' flame, keeps on gettin' higher
And I can't put out this fire
Can't put out this fire
Can't put out this fire
Can't put out this fire
Oh, no matter how hard I try
No gettin' over you, no matter what I do
There's no gettin' over you, no matter what I do
Can't put out this fire
No, I can't put out this fire
Some things will never die, some things like you and I
Some things will never die, some things like you and I
No, I can't put out this, no, I can't put out this
No complaints and no regrets
I still believe in chasing dreams and placing bets
And I have learned that all you give is all you get
So give it all you've got
I had my share, I drank my fill
And even though I'm satisfied, I'm hungry still
To see what's down another road, beyond a hill
And do it all again
So here's to life
And every joy it brings
Here's to life
To dreamers and their dreams
Funny how the time just flies
How love can go from warm hellos to sad goodbyes
And leave you with the memories you've memorized
To keep your winters warm
But there's no yes in yesterday
And who knows what tomorrow brings, or takes away
As long as I'm still in the game, I want to play
For laughs, for life, for love
So here's to life
And every joy it brings
Here's to life
To dreamers and their dreams
May all your storms be weathered
And all that's good get better
Here's to life
Here's to love
You've promised me love that would never die
That promise you've made was only a lie
Now after you've gone all alone
I'll pine for all that I've got is a worried mind
And when I was down you've just left me there
I needed you so oh but you didn't care
You've found a new love and a home so fine
Look at all the tables standing still
The smoke has settled from the air
Everyone was laughing, finding romance
Now there's only empty chairs
People used to dance here after hours
Wrapped around each other in a song
Every now and then, so very long ago
Doesn't really seem so long
Driving up at midnight, ladies dressed in fur
When I see the quiet street, I always think of her
Not the way she is now but the way that she was then
Sometimes you can't go back again
Driving up at midnight, ladies dressed in fur
When I see the quiet street, I always think of her
Not the way she is now but the way that she was then
If you need someone to talk to
And you're feelin' all alone,
And there's no one else to turn to,
Just pick up your telephone
If your love affair's sinkin'
Like a ship that's goin' down
And you find yourself on a dead-end street
In a lonely part of town
Everyone you counted on let you down,
Baby, you can call on me
I been waitin' for you in the lost and found
Baby, you can call on me
I got an angel on my shoulder
I got the devil by my side
I gotta have someone to talk to
'Cause it's a long and lonely ride
I've seen it all before and I'll see it all again
I see where it starts out and I see where it all ends
The gutters in the streets and the mansion on the hill
Nothin' ever changes, nothin' ever will
If your old man don't treat you right
Baby, you can call on me
If you find yourself in trouble, up all night
Baby, you can call on me
If you know someone sneakin' around
Baby, you can call on me
If you don't like what's comin' down
Baby, you can call on me
I'll put it all out on the table,
You've got to tell me how you feel
But you better be ready to face the truth
If you want to make this deal
I'll find a needle in a haystack, a lover or a friend
I got everything's goin' on, but I will not pretend
I tell it like it is, you know I take it as it lies
I'll tell you where you find it, I make no alibis
If you don't like what's goin' down,
Baby, you should call on me
I been waitin' for you in the lost and found
If you ever plan to motor west,
Travel my way, take the highway that is best.

I'm getting old before my time Just worrying over you I'm getting old and it's a crime To treat me the way you do
I'm getting old before my time I need a perch and a cane Overs had some rings for a dime Buy one and I won't complain
We planned to get married About ten years ago You stalled and you tarried You wouldn't say "yes" and you wouldn't say "no"
I'm getting old before my time Someday I'll feel like new That's when we'll hear the preacher speak And I'll belong to you
We planned to get married About ten years ago You stalled and you tarried You wouldn't say "yes" and you wouldn't say "no"
She moved in next door to me
And she showed me her world
What a neighbor, thanks for the favor
She's a very sexy girl
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
I got a feeling I can't go wrong
'Cause every time I see her
It's like hearing my favorite song
She's already down the steps
She's way down the block
But my heart keeps beating faster
And it just won't stop
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl, that's right
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
I love to take her walkin' and when we started talkin'
I'd tell her she's the finest I've ever seen
She'd look into my eyes but then I realize
I'm holding on to a dream
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl, she's mine
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl
Stop any man walking down the street
Ask him what kind of girl he'd like to meet
There's not one thing in this whole wide world
He'd rather see than a sexy girl
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
She's a very sexy girl, oh yeah
She's a sexy girl
(Sexy girl, sexy girl)
Look at all the people lined up outside,
This must be the place
I see beautiful women dressed in black,
everyone a pretty face
Red lips, tight hips, hey little girl
You make my heart do flips
Baby please, don't tease, can't you see
I love you I'm on my knees
Something is wrong with this picture
She doesn't like the way I dance
Why is everybody just standin' around
lookin' for true romance
I'm looking at you and what do I see
Love in the 21st Century
I know what you're thinking
What's in it for me?
That's love in the 21st Century,
Love in the 21st Century
Tell me do I look like a desperate man
Champagne and flowers in my hand
I don't know her, she don't know me
She's my video date, she's my destiny
Do you like to party? (yeh, yeh, yeh)
Do you want to settle down? (no, no, no)
Do you like my kind of music? (yeh, yeh, yeh)
Do you wanna mess around? (whoa, whoa, whoa)
Something is wrong with this picture
She doesn't even look the same
Whatever a poor boy does these days
Love is still a losing game
I'm looking at you, you're looking at me
It's love in the 21st Century
We're living in pictures, we want what we see
That's love in the 21st Century
Where do you go? What do you do?
How can somebody make his dreams come true?
What does everybody need desperately?
Love in the 21st Century, love in the 21st Century
She wants to party, love on the line
She likes to party, love on the line
It's the same sad story all over this world
Every man looking for the perfect girl
He sees her everyday in a magazine
Sees her everynight on a T.V. screen
Something is wrong with this picture
Has everybody gone insane?
Whatever a poor boy does these days
You can't find love and it's a cryin' shame
I can't touch you and you can't touch me
It's love in the 21st Century
It's all imagination and fantasy
That's love in the 21st Century
You can get it by mail, you can get it by phone
You can get it late at night when you're all alone
What does everybody want desperately?
Love in the 21st Century
It's your Life,
Do what you got to do.
It's your dream,
And sometimes dreams come true.
I just want to say,
I believe in you.
It's your heart,
That tells you right from wrong,
If you leave too soon,
or if you stay too long.
If it's meant to be,
only time will tell.
If you have to leave,
then I'll say farewell.
It's your life,
Do what you got to do.
If it's here with me,
or with someone new.
I know it's hard,
but it's up to you,
It's your life.
It's your life,
do what you got to do.
it's your dream,
you've got to see it through.
When the road gets rough,
and you're feeling blue,
When you've had enough,
I'll be there for you.
It's your life,
you do the best you can.
If you want my love,
oh darling, take my hand.
God knows I love you,
but I understand,
It's your life.
Heartache Tonight
(Frey/Henley/Seger/Souther)
Somebody's gonna hurt someone
before the night is through
Somebody's gonna come undone.
There's nothin' we can do.
Everybody wants to touch somebody
if it takes all night.
Everybody wants to take a little chance,
Make it come out right.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
a heartache tonight, I know.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight, I know.
Lord, I know.
Some people like to stay out late
Some folks can't hold out that long
But nobody wants to go home now.
there's too much goin' on.
This night is gonna last forever.
Last all, last all summer long.
Some time before the sun comes up
The radio is gonna play that song.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
A heartache tonight, I know.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
A heartache tonight, I know.
Lord I know.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
the moon's shinin' bright
so turn out the light, and we'll get it right.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight, a
heartache tonight I know.
Heartache baby,
Somebody's gonna hurt someone, (somebody)
Before the night is through
Somebody's gonna come undone,
There's nothin' we can do
(Everybody) Everybody wants to touch somebody
if it takes all night
Everybody wants to take a little chance
To make it come out right
There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
A heartache tonight, I know
Let's go.
We can beat around the bushes;
we can get down to the bone
We can leave it in the parkin' lot,
but either way, there's gonna be a
heartache tonight, a heartache tonight I know.
There'll be a heartache tonight
I like the way your sparklin' earrings lay
Against your skin so brown
And I wanna sleep with you in the desert tonight
With a billion stars all around. 'Cause I got a peaceful easy feelin'And I know you won't let me down'cause I'm already standin' on the ground. And I found out a long time ago
What a woman can do to your soul.
Ah, but she can't take you anyway
You don't already know how to go. And I got a peaceful easy feelin'And I know you won't let me down'cause I'm already standin' on the ground. I get this feelin' I may know you
As a lover and a friend
But this voice keeps whispering in my other ear
Life is a book that we study
Some of it's leaves bring a sigh
There it was written by my buddy
That we must part, you and I
Nights are long since you went away
I think about you all through the day
My buddy, my buddy, nobody quite so true
Miss your voice, the touch of your hand
I long to know that you understand
My buddy, my buddy, your buddy misses you
Your buddy misses you
Miss your voice, the touch of your hand
I long to know that you understand
My buddy, my buddy
I wanna be around to pick up the pieces
When somebody breaks your heart
Some somebody twice as smart as I
A somebody who will swear to be true
Like you used to do with me
Who'll leave you to learn that misery loves company
Wait and see
I mean, I wanna be around to see how he does it
When he breaks your heart to bits
Let's see if the puzzle fits so fine
And that's when I'll discover that revenge is sweet
As I sit there applauding from a front row seat
When somebody breaks your heart
The look of love
Is in your eyes
The look your smile cant disguise
The look of love
Is saying so much more
Than just words could ever say
And what my heart has heard
Well it takes my breath away
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Youve got the look of love
Its on your face
A look that time cant erase
Be mine tonight
Let this be just the start
Of so many nights like this
Lets take a lovers vow
And then seal it with a kiss
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Dont ever go
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Dont ever go
Dont ever go
All around the city
Everywhere I go
Something strange is happening
To everyone I know
Hear the voice of loneliness
Crying in the night
See the madness in their eyes
Dancing with delight
I want to know
Why everyone I know
Has gone flip city
You say it ain't true
What can I do, now
I'm going flip city
Feels like someone's watching
Every move I make
Feels like someone's following
Every step I take
Suddenly, we're not alone
You can feel it too
Suddenly, we're not ourselves
What's come over you
chorus:
I want to know
Why everyone I know
Has gone flip city
She used to want me
How can it be, now
She's gone flip city
You say it ain't true
What can I do, now
I'm going flip city
I want to know
Why everyone I know
Has gone flip city
Wake me when it's over
Tell me I'm alright
Tell me it was just a dream
Dream I had last night
I can hear the spirits now
Moving under ground
I can feel them closing in
About to drag me down
chorus
I want to know why
Gone flip city
I want to know why
Gone flip city
I want to know why
I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I'll give you my heart
I love you and you alone were meant for me
Please give your loving heart to me
And say we'll never part
I think of you every morning
Dream of you every night
Darling, I'm never lonely
Whenever you are in sight
I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I've given you my heart
I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
Sunny day, two people walking
On and on, the way lovers do
Looking back, I see them talking
So many things remind me of you
I always thought we'd be together
I never dreamed we'd drift apart
Here I am, driving home to no one
To spend the night with my broken heart
I'm some kind of blue without you
Don't know what to do about you
From the minute you said we were through
I've been some kind of blue
I lay in bed and stare at the ceiling
I think of you walking out the door
I can't describe the sadness I'm feeling
I just know love don't live here no more
I'm some kind of blue without you
Don't know what to do about you
It's out of my hands, you made other plans
But I'm still in love with you
And I'm some kind of blue
Sunny day, two people walking
On and on, the way lovers do
Hand in hand, I see them talking
So many things remind me of you
I'm some kind of blue without you
Don't know what to do about you
From the minute you said we were through
I've been some kind of blue
Some kind of blue
Some kind of blue
Some kind of blue
I was deprived of a young girl's dream By the cruel force of nature from the blue
Instead of a night full of romance supreme
All I got was a running nose and asiatic flu
It's raining on prom night, my hair is a mess
It's running all over my taffeta dress
It's wilting the quilting on my maidenform
And mascara flows right down my nose, because of the storm
I don't even have my corsage, oh gee It fell down a sewer with my sister's ID
Yes, it's raining on prom night, oh my darling, what can I do? I miss you
It's raining rain from the skies
And it's raining real tears from my eyes, over you
Oh dear God, make him feel the same way I do right now
Make him want to see me again - oh what can I do
It's raining rain from the skies, it's raining tears from my eyes over you
Raining, ooh tears from my eyes over youRaining, ooh raining on prom night
Ooh raining, ooh tears from my eyes over you
It's knowing that your door is always open
And your path is free to walk
That makes me tend to leave my sleeping bag
Rolled up and stashed behind your couch
And it's knowing I'm not shackled
By forgotten words and bonds
And the ink stains that are dried upon some line
That keeps you in the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
That keeps you ever gentle on my mind
It's not clinging to the rocks and ivy
Planted on their columns now that bind me
Or something that somebody said
Because they thought we fit together walking
It's just knowing that the world will not be cursing
Or forgiving when I walk along some railroad track and find
That you're moving on the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
And for hours you're just gentle on my mind
Though the wheat fields and the clothes lines
And the junkyards and the highways come between us
And some other woman's cryin' to her mother
'Cause she turned and I was gone
I still might run in silence tears of joy might stain my face
And the summer sun might burn me 'til I'm blind
But not to where I cannot see you walkin' on the backroads
By the rivers flowing gentle on my mind
I dip my cup of soup back from a gurglin'
Cracklin' caldron in some train yard
My beard a rustling, cold towel, and
A dirty hat pulled low across my face
Through cupped hands 'round the tin can
I pretend to hold you to my breast and find
That you're waiting from the backroads
By the rivers of my memories
There's talk on the street; it sounds so familiar
Great expectations, everybody's watching you
People you meet, they all seem to know you
Even your old friends treat you like you're something new
Johnny come lately, the new kid in town
Everybody loves you, so don't let them down
You look in her eyes; the music begins to play
Hopeless romantics, here we go again
But after awhile, you're lookin' the other way
It's those restless hearts that never mend
Johnny come lately, the new kid in town
Will she still love you when you're not around?
There's so many things you should have told her,
but night after night you're willing to hold her,
Just hold her, tears on your shoulder
There's talk on the street, it's there to
Remind you, that it doesn't really matter
which side you're on.
You're walking away and they're talking behind you
They will never forget you 'til somebody new comes along
Where you been lately? There's a new kid in town
Everybody loves him, don't they?
Now he's holding her, and you're still around
Oh, my, my
There's a new kid in town
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's talking 'bout the new kid in town
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's walking' like the new kid in town
There's a new kid in town
There's a new kid in town
I don't want to hear it
There's a new kid in town
I don't want to hear it
There's a new kid in town
There's a new kid in town
Lord, I ain't never seen weather like this
It's a hundred and ten in the shade
It feels like the devil moved here himself
To see the trouble he made
Everybody's 'bout to go insane
They're crazy from the heat
Nobody wants to go outside
There's danger in the street
It's gonna be a long, hot summer
People dream of leavin' town
Get ready for a long, hot summer
Feel the hammer comin' down, comin' down
You see the heat comin' up from the sidewalk
You can feel the temperature rise
All I see is a blazin' sun
Burning a hole in the sky
I never thought that it could be like this
24 hours a day
It's too hot to sleep, were in trouble so deep
And you know there's no running away
It's gonna be a long, hot summer
This place is like a burning hell
Get ready for a long, hot summer
There ain't no water in the well
It's a long, hot summer
A lot of sweat and misery
It's a long, hot summer
It's killin' you and killin' me
So you scream and shout, but there's no way out
You just live with a lock on your door
There's a fire in the sky and the earth is so dry
Like a cracking ground, you can't take anymore
It's three o clock in the morning
(Don't do it)
You wait for the sirens to moan
(Don't do it)
You stare at the trigger, but somehow you figure
You don't feel like dying alone
(Don't do it)
The mean streets are getting meaner
Everybody's got a gun
This ain't no city, it's a nightmare darlin'
Were all dying in the sun
It's gonna be a long, hot summer
People dream of leavin' town
Get ready for a long, hot summer
Feel the hammer comin' down
It's a long, hot summer
Never seen a drop of rain
It's a long, hot summer
I've been all over town
Lookin' all around
Now I fin'lly see you
At a table with friends
Where ev'ry one pretends
I'm not try'n' to free you
I know I let you down
But now I've found
I can't live alone
I just have one thing to say, baby
Hurry finish up your drink
We've had lots of time to think
Let's just steal away
Please just come with me
I need some privacy
For what I've got to say
You know the way I feel
And now I realize
I should have known
There's no living without you
So let's go home
For once in my life, I finally see
You mean ev'rything, in the world to me
I'm willing to take all the bad with the good
I'm ready to do ev'rything that I should
Since we've been apart
I've had a change of heart
Yes, I changed my mind
I'm tryin' to say it right
I need you here tonight
Baby, I ain't lyin'
So please look in my eyes
If you still love me,
You will know
It's just you with me, baby
So let's go home
Oh, let's go home
Oh, let's go home
Another lonely night
Under the spell of a summer moon
I heard the wind sing a lonely tune
I did it for your love
I waited by the shore
Just for one glimpse of you, nothing more
I heard the wind tell the stars above
I did if for your love
How can I believe in love when all that I can see
Is everything it's done to you and me?
I went the extra mile
Did everything just to see you smile
Somehow I knew it was all worthwhile
'Cause I did it for your love
The leaves will soon be turning
Then falling to the ground
I'll face the cold of winter
And you won't be around
Another lonely night
Somehow it all slipped through my hands
Somehow I knew you would understand
I did it for your love
I did it for your love
Girl, I brought you a little present to celebrate tonight
And let you know everything's gonna be alright
In spite of all the love I'm feeling
I know there's something you're concealing
I was hoping you would ease my worried mind
If there's somebody else, you should let me know
If there's somebody else, better let him go
If there's somebody else, you can set him free
Tell that somebody else, you belong to me
You belong to me
Listen, I know every secret you've been keeping
Who you're going with and where you're sleeping
And I'm telling you, you got to stop it now
Hope you're listening to what I'm saying
This is not a silly game we're playing
It's the one and only thing I can't allow
If there's somebody else, you should set him free
If there's somebody else, then it's history
If he knew how it was, then he'd let you go
If there's somebody else, you should let him know
How could you think that I would not see?
It shows that you got no respect for me
If there's somebody else, you got one more chance
If there's somebody else, it's a dead romance
I don't really wanna say goodbye
Oh, it would break my heart, if I should see you cry
You know you can't go on denying who I am
And darlin' that is why there can be no other man
If there's somebody else, then let me know
If there's somebody else, you better let him go
If there's somebody else, you can set him free
Tell that somebody else, you belong to me
If there's somebody else, somebody else
If there's somebody else, somebody else
Somebody, somebody, can't help thinking there's
Somebody, somebody
Where did your long hair go
Where is the girl I used to know
How could you lose that happy glow
Oh, Caroline no
Who took that look away
I remember how you used to say
You'd never change, but that's not true
Oh, Caroline you
Break my heart
I want to go and cry
It's so sad to watch a sweet thing die
Oh, Caroline why
Could I ever find in you again
Things that made me love you so much then
Could we ever bring 'em back once they have gone
Hello, baby, how've you been?
You sure are looking fine
I just had to look you up
'Cause you've been on my mind
It's been awhile, we've been apart
I've finally had a chance to search my heart
It doesn't seem to matter what I do
I still keep thinkin' 'bout me and you
Let's pretend we're still in love and the stars above
Are shining for you and me
Let's pretend our love is kissed on a night like this
Make it like it used to be
Just close your eyes
(We're still in love)
And let's pretend
(We're still in love)
We're still in love
(We're still in love)
Looking back, we didn't have a care
When we were young and wild
And when I think about the time we shared
It always makes me smile
We had it good, we had it bad
I'm always thinkin' 'bout the times we had
It doesn't seem to matter what I do
I still keep dreamin' 'bout me and you, me and you
Let's pretend we're still in love and the stars above
Are shining for you and me
Let's pretend there's still a flame
And it can be the same, exactly like the memory
Just close your eyes
(We're still in love)
And let's pretend
(We're still in love)
We're still in love
(We're still in love)
I'm still in love with you, baby, yeah
If I could have you back, I'd surely pay the price
I'd do most anything, I'd make a sacrifice
I'd walk a hundred miles down on my bended knees
I need your lovin' back, listen to me, please
Let's pretend we're still in love
And the stars above are shining for you and me
(They're shining, baby)
Let's pretend there's still a flame
And it can be the same, exactly like the memory
(It's a sweet memory)
Let's pretend there's still romance
And take another chance
Baby, just you and me
(Just one more time)
Let's pretend we're still in love, that we're still in love
(We're still in love)
Just close your eyes, baby
(We're still in love)
Come on and go with me
We're still in love, we're still in love
In the morning, in the evening
I'm still in love with you, baby, yeah
Just close your eyes
And let's pretend we're still in love
The time is coming to do some soul searchin'
No more running, no more bridges burnin'
The time is comin' for you and me
To take a look inside, no matter what we see
Let's do some soul searchin', just you and me
Our lives are changin', this old world keeps turnin'
And I sit here wondering what we're really learnin'
I know you're just a woman, I'm just a man
Let's be true to each other, do the best we can
Let's do some soul searchin', soul searchin'
Some soul searchin', soul searchin'
Let's do some soul searchin', just you and me
There's a big train rollin', big train rollin'
I can hear it hummin', hear it hummin'
But the river is risin', river is risin'
And the rain keeps comin', rain keeps comin'
It's time to get onboard, before we're washed away
It's time to leave behind some things from yesterday
Let's do some soul searchin', soul searchin'
Little bit of soul searchin', soul searchin'
Let's do some soul searchin', just you and me
Come and talk to me
The time is comin', you know the time is comin'
To do some soul searchin', do some soul searchin'
No more runnin', they'll be no more runnin'
No more bridges burnin', no more bridges burnin'
It's time for every woman and every man
Build a new world together, workin' hand in hand
It's time to stop pretendin' that you're somebody else
You know you can't change this world, but you can change yourself
Let's do a little soul searchin', soul searchin'
Little bit of soul searchin', soul searchin'
Let's do some soul searchin', just you and me
We're gonna take a look inside, forget our foolish pride
It's time to search our soul yeah, search our souls
And make a good thing whole
It may be raining, oh raining but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, let somebody love you
You better let somebody love you before it's too late
Wonderin' how to cross the river
On a cold and windy night
With the water ragin' higher
By the moon's shinin' light
Suddenly a man stepped forward
And he looked at all around
He said, "We all must cross this river
We all stand on common ground"
Though I was standin' amongst strangers
I did not know their names
I realized they were with me
And our journey was the same
As he spoke out loud, I looked around me
I could see they knew it, too
We would cross or die together
No one man could make it through
There was shelter across the river
Across the water deep and black
As a storm moved in behind us,
There was no way to turn back
So I stepped right up beside him
And took one last look around
That before my eyes I realized,
We all stand on common ground
We all stand on common ground
So many years have come and gone
Since we crossed that river wide
When I look back on that night
It still moves me so inside
This world today is like that river
Its water cold and black
We all must cross together,
For there is no turnin' back
For the mountain high or a city street,
It's the same old world below our feet
It's time to wake up, people, and take a look around
We all stand on common ground
It's time for every woman and every man
And hold the future in our hands
Wake up and look around,
We all stand on common ground
We all stand on common ground
