In the United States:
Ian Gillett Carmichael, OBE (18 June 1920 – 5 February 2010) was an English film, stage, television and radio actor.
Carmichael was born in Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The son of an optician, he was educated at Scarborough College and Bromsgrove School, before training as an actor at RADA. He made his stage debut as a robot at the People's Palace in Mile End, East London in 1939. With the outbreak of World War II his acting career was interrupted by service with the Royal Armoured Corps as a commissioned officer in the 22nd Dragoons. He served in the Normandy campaign, losing the tip of one finger to an accident with the turret hatch of a Valentine tank, and reached the rank of major before leaving the Army in 1947.
The young actor left his family's shopkeeping business in Hull to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and to sing in talent contests at the Hammersmith Palais de Danse.
He portrayed serious characters in Betrayed (1954), starring Clark Gable and Lana Turner, and in The Colditz Story (1955), but he made his name playing in a series of films for the Boulting brothers, including Private's Progress (1956), Brothers in Law (1957) and I'm All Right Jack (1959), as well as similar films for other producers, for example School for Scoundrels (1960). He also appeared in the "Pride" segment of The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins (1971).
Dennis Price (23 June 1915 – 6 October 1973) was an English actor, remembered for his suave screen roles, particularly Louis Mazzini in Kind Hearts and Coronets and for his portrayal of the omniscient valet Jeeves in 1960s television adaptations of P. G. Wodehouse's stories.
Price was born Dennistoun Franklyn John Rose-Price in Twyford in Berkshire, son of Brigadier-General Thomas Rose Caradoc Price and his wife Dorothy, née Verey. He attended Copthorne Prep School, Radley College and Worcester College, Oxford. He studied acting at the Embassy Theatre School of Acting.
Price made his first appearance on stage at the Croydon Repertory Theatre in June 1937, followed by a London debut at the Queen's Theatre on 6 September 1937 in Richard II. He served in the Royal Artillery from March 1940 to June 1942 but quickly returned to acting after discharge, appearing with Noël Coward in This Happy Breed and Present Laughter and later as Charles Condomine in Blithe Spirit, which he later named in Who's Who in the Theatre as one of his two favourite parts along with the title role in André Obey's Noah. In the 1950s, Price appeared in London and New York in new plays and revivals of classics. In 1957 he made his debut in South Africa in lead roles in Separate Tables.
James Hugh Calum Laurie, OBE (born 11 June 1959), known as Hugh Laurie (/ˈhjuː ˈlɒri/), is an English actor, voice artist, comedian, writer, musician, recording artist, and director. He first became known as one half of the Fry and Laurie double act, along with his friend and comedy partner Stephen Fry, whom he joined in the cast of Blackadder and Jeeves and Wooster from 1987 to 1999.
From 2004 to 2012, he played Dr Gregory House, the protagonist of House, for which he received two Golden Globe awards, two Screen Actors Guild awards, and six Emmy nominations. As of August 2010, Laurie is the highest paid actor in a drama series on US television. He has been listed in the 2011 Guinness Book of World Records as the highest paid actor ever in a TV Drama—earning US$ 700,000 per episode in House—and for being the most watched leading man on television.
Laurie was born in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. The youngest of four children, Laurie has an older brother named Charles and two older sisters named Susan and Janet. He had a somewhat strained relationship with his mother, Patricia (née Laidlaw). His father, Ran Laurie, was a medical doctor who also won an Olympic gold medal in the coxless pairs (rowing) at the 1948 London Games.
Bertram Wilberforce "Bertie" Wooster is a recurring fictional character in the Jeeves novels of British author P. G. Wodehouse. An English gentleman, one of the "idle rich" and a member of the Drones Club, he appears alongside his valet, Jeeves, whose genius manages to extricate Bertie or one of his friends from numerous awkward situations. As the first-person narrator of ten novels and over 30 short stories, Bertie ranks as one of the most vivid comic creations in popular literature. Bertie’s middle name, “Wilberforce”, is the doing of his father, who won money on a horse named Wilberforce in the Grand National the day before Bertie was born and insisted on Bertie carrying that name (mentioned in Much Obliged, Jeeves).
Due to the volume of stories and time span over which Wodehouse wrote them, there are a number of inconsistencies and contradictions in the information given about his relatives. "Bertie" and several of his relations appear in the early Wodehouse story "Extricating Young Gussie". In that story the family name is Mannering-Phipps, not Wooster, and the story has never been included in collections of Jeeves and Wooster materials, however the incidents described in "Extricating Young Gussie" are referred to in later stories.
Gotta way to, fill the spaces
Fill the spaces that we once knew
Gotta way to, fill the spaces
Fill the spaces that we went through
I'll be goin' to the company store
I'll be hangin' with my old friends
I'll be goin' to the company store
As with my problems they will end
Gotta way to, hear the laughter
Hear the laughter that we once knew
Gotta way to, feel the feelings
Feel the feelings that you put me through
I'll build a rocket to fly across in
Fly across the trouble we know, yeah
I'll find my freedom, and with my freedom
I'll go wherever I choose yes
I don't wanna hear the voices
I don't wanna leave again
One good pass and I'll be gone from here
One good run and I'll be free
Got a rocket, in my pocket
Don't think I'll turn anyone in
It's my one thing, it's my one thing
I believe it can get me through yes
I'll refine it, they'll refine it
From this one horse town I know yeah
Get out of jail, with the bail here
With a compromise, he tilts his head
With it out of sight, he'd be better off dead
Well she wanders off a fool in the world
Never to return again
With a blanket inside a sack she provides
On the corner of judgment
Well she's a good little girl
'Cause she's thankful for me
And the way that she feels inside
But it's hard for her to stand the curve
But she makes it seem all right
Where they're sleeping, where the stars are sleeping
I'll soon be there
A grateful moment, ooh! all the time
But I don't own it, and it could never be mine
Well he wanders off a fool in the world
Never to return again
With a blanket inside a sack he provides
On the corner judgment
Well he's a good little boy
'Cause he's thankful for me
And the way that he feels inside
But it's hard for him to let you in
But he makes it seem all right
Where they're sleeping, where the stars are sleeping
I'll soon be there
Well I can see it in the air tonight
Oh the stars they shine
And I can see it in the air tonight
You ain't no better off
Than you were three days ago
And you ain't no better off
Than you were yesterday
And you ain't no better off
Than those people standing beside you
You ain't no better off
You just like to hear those words you say
Don't tell me nothing
'Cause nothing ever changes
Don't tell me nothing
'Cause nothing ever changes 'round here!
There's a full moon tonight
Things are getting kind of crazy
There's a full moon tonight
Things are gonna get a little weird!
Well I thought you were better off
You were gonna change the world
Well I thought you were better off
You were gonna make it all disappear
I don't know why I stay here
I carry on
I don't know why I stay here
It's always back to the loving
All my life
I can dream of you
All my life
I can dream of you
Dark clouds
The woods and the rain
The lonely boy
He never sleeps
Free fall
Turning round
Will he land
On his feet, yeah
Well I can see
A fool in the rain
Never getting by
Well I can see
The fool never changes
Always stays a stanger
Always in danger (to survive)
Slow burn
She lies in bed
She turns to see
If he's still there
She sees the space
Where he once lay
Now she knows
Lucky Lucy
She's a kind one
Turned her riches
Into a million dollar game
Broke out for the harvest
Now she sits
On the corner of West and Main
Jeremy's a mind reader
Thinks he can tell
The tales of a soul
Burned out on the peace pipe
Now he thinks
He's got nowhere to go
He's for real
Nobody takes him for granted
He's for real
Nobody takes him
Where he doesn't want to go
Take it from me
Take it all eventually
Take it all
Take it all from the canvas of my world
I've got to pace myself
Before I burnout? yeah
I've got to pace myself
Don't wanna burnout
Lucky Lucy
She's a kind one
Turned her riches
Into a million dollar game
Broke out for the harvest
Now she sells
Down on the corner of West and Main
She's for real
Nobody takes her for granted
She's for real
Nobody takes her
Where she doesn't want to go
Take it from me
Take it all eventually
Take it all
Take it all from the canvas of my world
Like a forest
We are all the trees
Like a forest
We can fall with ease
I've got to pace myself
Before I burnout? yeah
I've got to pace myself
Don't wanna burnout
Don't wanna burnout
Don't wanna burnout
Slowly she moves
Turns the lonely pages in her mind
A plaintiff with a cause
She's gonna make it through this wonderland
She's gonna live, live through time, yeah
Gently she moves
Careful not to step on the broken glass
She lost the night before
She's the one gonna wonder
Gonna wonder if it's right or wrong
She's gonna live, live through time, yeah
There's always something, more I can see
There's always something, something more I can be
There's always something more I can say
There's gonna be a better life for me.
I'm gonna find it someday, yeah!
Now slowly she moves
Turns the lonely pages in her mind
A plaintiff with a cause
She's gonna make it through this wonderland
She's gonna live, live through time, yeah!
I'm gonna leave you
I've got to feel you
I'm gonna leave you
I've got to feel you, yeah.
I'm gonna leave you
I've got to feel you, yeah
I'm gonna leave you
Used to want loving
I used to want your love
Used to want loving
Well, I wanted your love
With all of my dreams I can surely say
Gonna take my life and simply fade away
Used to want fame
I used to want it all
Used to want fame
Well, I wanted it all
With all of my dreams I can surely say
Gonna take this simple life and simply fade away
With all your love and your life
You can surely make your dreams come alive
To all your wants, to all your needs
You can simply say goodbye, bye, bye
You still want loving
You still want my love
With all of my dreams I can surely say
Gonna take my life and simply fade away
I'm out the door
Sleeps all around you, in every way
Pushin' you over, tryin' to make you play
But you know better, you know what to do
Cause you are the dreamer, and dreams come true
Why don't you wake up, dreamer, from your dreams
Why don't you wake up, dreamer, from your sleep
Why don't you wake up, dreamer, from your dreams
Why don't you wake up
Sleeps all around you, in every way
Pushin' you under, tryin' to make you stay
But you can't wake up, and you can't hide
Life's bitter falling down some
Took the bait I took the ride
Turned the world a lonely side
Found the only silence that he knows
Father will you please let me go
And nothing but love I say will show
Father will you please let me go
There's something before myself I know
You're so far, you're so far away
Tell me, tell me, tell me lies
Tell me all the things inside
Tell me all the worlds that you've won
You think of me, you think of me so often
You think of me, oh!
You want me to believe it's true, yeah.
Father will you please let me go
And nothing but love I say will show
Father will you please let me go
There's something before myself I know
You're so far, you're so far away
Father will you please let me go
And nothing but love I say will show
Father will you please let me go
There's something before myself I know
You're so far, you're so far away
You're so far away
You're so far away
You're such a lonely man
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do
Missy she's a soldier
She keeps her armor shining
Missy she's a soldier
She has learned to carry on
And Missy she's a soldier
She keeps her armor shining
Yeah, she's a soldier
She has learned to carry on
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do
Missy she is older
She's kept her armor shining
Missy she's a soldier
She has learned to carry on
And now that she is older
She's gonna keep it shining
Yeah, she's a soldier
She has learned to carry on
Can you feel
When your world is in your mind
Can you feel
Well, you've left it all behind
Can you feel
Well, there's nowhere you can hide
You have been there all the time
But you still go
Can you feel
When your world is in your mind
Can you feel
Well, you've left it all behind
Can you feel
Well, there's nowhere you can hide
You have been there all the time
But you still go
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do
There's a heaven in you
There's a heaven in me
There's a heaven in you
There's a heaven in me
Let me take you on this journey
Let me take you for this ride
Come along and you will witness
Look inside your worried mind, yeah!
Temptation is the creature
Temptation is the key
Let us all love the preacher
Maybe he will set us free, yeah!
When he was just a young man
Well he thought that he could try
When he was just a young man
Well the times went by
Now he sees...
Falling down
This race is turning to the sky
Will they ever let us in?
Falling down
Will we ever find out why?
Everybody holds the future
Everybody holds the world
Do you ever wonder, baby?
What this is all about
Do you ever question, girl?
The things you tend to doubt
Well, there's no reply
It's better off to die
When you're feeling all alone
Do you hear the answer baby
When you're sitting on the throne
Everybody holds the future
Everybody holds the world
You got a penny in your pocket, baby
A penny in your mind
You hope someone will stop it, girl
You hope to avoid the crime
Well, you've never been so lonely, baby
You've never been so blue
You can't afford the doctor, girl
So what you gonna do
Do you feel the lonesome anger, baby
When you're feeling all alone, yeah!
Do you feel the lonesome anger, baby
She said, baby, that's something I've always known
She said, baby, that's something you ought to know
Everybody holds the future
Everybody holds the future
Everybody holds the world
Do you ever wonder baby
What this is all about?
Do you ever question girl
The things you tend to doubt?
Well there's no reply
It's better off to die
When you're feeling all alone
Do you hear the answer baby
When you're sitting on the throne
Got a penny in your pocket baby
A penny in your mind
You hope someone will stop it girl
You hope to avoid the crime
You've never been so lonely baby
You've never been so blue
You can't afford the doctor girl
So what you gonna do?
Do you feel the lonesome anger baby?
When you're feeling all alone, yeah!
Do you feel the lonesome anger baby?
She said baby that's somethin' I've always known
I wanna go to a happy place, a happy place with you
I wanna go to a happier place, and be happy with you
You know I got this place I go, wantcha to go with me
Feel the passion, feel the love, and you feel the ecstasy
Yeah, sometimes I get down, but when I come to this place
All my troubles leave out the door, I gotta big smile on my face
Come with me!
We all need happier places
And we all want a better life
Come with me my friends and I'll take ya
Vowed I'd never do this again
Vowed I'd never do this again
Vowed I'd never do this again
Vowed I'd never do this again
And here I go
Out on the edge
Looking over
To see how high
And the high
That I get
Helps me through it
Helps me forget it
Vowed I'd never feel this way again
Vowed I'd never feel this way again
Vowed I'd never feel this again
Vowed I'd never feel this way again
There's no reason
For what I do
There's no reason
Why I choose to
There's no action
A no rewind
There's no help here
From the inside
Vowed I'd never do this again
Vowed I'd never do this again
Vowed I'd never feel this way again
Vowed I'd never do this again
And here I go
Out on the edge
Looking over
To see how high
And the high
That I get
Helps me through it
Ooh! It's such a dark stretch
Cruel though it seems
A parallel between life and fate
A parallel between you and me
And all your worried wisdom baby
Gets you through the night
And though it all surrounds you there
You harvest the light
A blurred vision lurks you see
Deep within the why
A fall before the worthless one
Come and see this holy child
I bought a fool's bargain
Would you believe I bought a fool's game
Oh, can't you see how this whole thing started
Would you believe ever in a fool's dream
A true religion is hard to find
And some will steal your soul
Well, I'm the one who walks the line
I'm the one who knows
And all your worried wisdom baby
Can get you through the night
And though it all surrounds you there
You harvest the light
I bought a fool's bargain
Would you believe I bought a fool's game
Oh, can't you see how this whole thing started
Would you believe ever in a fool's dream
Ooh! It's such a dark stretch
Cruel though it seems
A parallel between life and fate
A parallel between you and me
I bought a fool's bargain
Would you believe I bought a fool's game
Oh, can't you see how this whole thing started
For your touch
Well I've been tortured so many ways
For your touch
Well I've been tortured now baby
For your touch pretty girl
Well I've been tortured so many ways
For your touch
I'm bending over backwards, yes I am
For your soul, I am
For your soul, I am
For your love
Well I've been tortured so many ways
For your love
Well I've been tortured now baby
Goodbye to love baby bye, bye
To all those things I've ever wanted
Now it's time for me to say goodbye
I'm bending over backwards, yes I am
And heaven will be our salvation
For your love
Well I've been tortured so many ways
For your love
Well I've been tortured now baby
For your love?, pretty girl!
Well I've been tortured so many ways
For your love
Would it be good to me?
Would it be good to you?
Would it be good to me?
Would it be good to you?
I want the world turning over for me
I want everything I could ever be
Would you feel me in the firey depths of hell?
Would you call me to come and then bid me farewell?
Would you dream up a dream and then wake up the next day?
Would you call me inside, oh ask me to stay?
Would it be good to me?
Would it be good to you?
Would it be good to me?
Would it be good to you?
So there you go, turning my world around
What will it show, keeping your feet on the ground
If I asked you to stay, would you plead me to go?
Would you find me a way to let happiness show?
Would you bleed for me, bleed for me or turn it away?
Would you look to the stars and let come what may?
Would it be good to me?
Would it be good to you?
Would it be good to me?
Would it be good to you?
Thrown away, the tears of life
We've thrown away, the fear inside
For when it's good to you
It is good to me
Would it be good to me?
Would it be good to you?
Would it be good to me?
Hold the mercy, don't need no shelter
Hold the mercy, I've been waitin' for too long
Who you carryin' those bricks for
Why you carryin' the weight?
You messin' with love, your anger and hate
Who you carryin' those bricks for
Why you carryin' the weight?
It's never too long, and it's never too late
You can believe in yourself
You can believe in your soul
Find the answers in your questions
And happiness you will know
Who you carryin' those bricks for
Why you carryin' the weight?
Heard the people sayin' that it's all just fate
Who you carryin' those bricks for
Why you carryin' the weight?
Is she cold
Is she bitter
Is she cold so far away
And then love strikes a chord in the night
Turns her soul turns it way out of sight
Turning back but there's nowhere to go
She gives love but there's no one to show
And then why oh why she asks why
Should I feel this torture inside
Never wanted never dreamed it could be
Only wanted my soul to be free
She made the love she made it fall
She had the world she had it all
Turned into what she would be
But now it's all gone and she's there
And then love strikes a chord in the night
Turns her soul turns it way out of sight
Turning back but there's nowhere to go
Should I release myself
Let it run?
Abide the reaction here
For what's to come
Well now, I've seen it all before
It was unclear
The mystic traveler's gone astray
Been gone for years
When I leave it all to go
There's too many places I must stay
When I leave it all to go
Where there's such a race
A better place, where my back is gone
Well I can't stay long
'Cause I have fallen
I've fallen for you
Well I have fallen
I've fallen for you
Like Jacob's ladder
And the Bellevue Estates
Like nothing else matters
Except the pain out of place
Well I dreamed of an angel
That doesn't exist
Dreamed of hell in a bucket
I like the way the grass
Feels between my toes
When I'm running naked
In the woods with you babe
Well I like the way it feels
Well oh so high
And I want to make love to you
Want to do the things
Oh the things we do
Well I like it babe
Let's get high!
When you're high
When you're high
When you're high
You feel fine
Well I know
Sometimes life can get you down
You need something or someone
To pick you up off the ground
Well the Why Store's got what it takes
To get everybody high
And I want to make love to you
Want to do the things
Oh the things we do
Well I like it yeah
A little bit of buzz
Going round the circle
A little bit of buzz
That's what's happening here
Well I don't need your world
And I surely don't need your mind
A little bit of love
Going round the circle
A little bit of love
That's what's happening here
When you find your fortune, baby
You will find the answer to it all
When you find your fortune, baby
You will find the answer to it all
You will find the answer boy
You will find the answer girl
You will find the answer to it all
I'm a little bit buzzed
I'm going round in circles
I'm a little bit in love
Been feeling this way
For ten thousand years
Pawned and put in papers
Creating all I fear
To keep
Working, aching, trying
Working, aching, trying
Go on now, take it slow
Take it fast if you know
Take it anyway that you can get it
Take it before you quit it
Tell the world
That you know someone
Who's the man on the moon
Tell the world
That you're looking for something more
It's always been easier on you
To keep
Working, aching, trying
Working, aching, trying
You say you want me to lead
I say you're wrong, my friend
Been working my fingers to the bone
And I can't bleed no more
To keep
Working, aching, trying
Down the way
There's a street
Where everything is a melody
And down the way
There's a place
Where you can be what you want to be
The walls of Hades
The gates of heaven
Start to melt away
A baby's crying
But you can't hear
A single word he says
All it takes is love, babe
All it takes is your love
All it takes is love, babe
All it takes is your love
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
Like before me
There will be another one
Like before me
There will be another one
For all to witness
We will walk on common ground
For all to witness
We will walk on common ground
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
Who is your love?
All it takes is love, babe
When I'm with you I forget the winter
When I'm with you, well, baby, I forget the pain
Well, I know the loneliness can starve you blind
And I know loneliness is just a matter of time
Forgetting everything I keep falling in line
The torture it takes me there and you're always on my mind
When I'm with you I forget the winter
When I'm with you, well, baby, I forget the pain
Never thought of anything, oh how the stories bend
Never thought of anything, oh I couldn't comprehend
Thought of every tale I'd tell
Thought of every word I'd say
But deep inside I know it's right
And for now we're on our way
When I'm with you I forget the winter
When I'm with you, well, baby, I forget the pain
A memory of yesterday
A tear in her eye
A smile on her face I see
It's a smile she cannot hide
She pulls me in her arms
Oh, she pushes me aside
Drifts way in her eloquence
Oh, she shifts and slowly sighs
When I'm with you I forget the winter
All of your life you're sitting inside
Watching the world go by
Taking your time oh never mind
There's really no reason to try
What do you know?
Taking the risk, oh taking the time
Nobody seems to oblige
Waiting for someone to show you the way
It's hard to see hope in their eyes
And then they tell you about the things you've done
They know the answers, but really, what do they know?
What do you know?
Woops, oh what's your mistake?
I know it's so hard to try
They beg you to leave, oh they beg you to stay
It's never an easy ride
What do you know?
So here's a chance to show to you
All of the things in your way
The message is clear but it's hard to hear
So listen to what we say
You're weeping over your shoulder
Yes you're weeping over and over
Your mind is erased
You're leaving this place
You're digging a hole
In this holy grave
And all my life
I can see you weeping
There's no one to blame
You're riding this wave
You'd turn your cheek
But it's all the same
And all my life
I can see you weeping
Fool-hearted love gonna let me be
Fool-hearted love gonna let you see
Fool-hearted love gonna make me
If freedom's what you want
Well I lit this room
To see the light of the world
And you put me down
To see your smiling face all around
But you washed away
With the clouds
To read the book
Is to find the hook
You can breathe the air
When you find the one who cares
And it might be nice to see the happiness
Flowing far between the lines
And it might be nice to see the loneliness
Fade away with the time
But you always wash away
With the clouds
Free the mind
Take the trip and fall behind
You can watch the flowers grow
Two beasts
One bargain
Let 'em out
For the show
Two dreams
One coffin
Let 'em out
Before they go
Before they go
Before they go
Down on Lacy
She is real good
Down on Lacy
Yeah, she should play
Been a pawn
In this picture
She's been everyone's
Point of view
You keep holding on
And you never let go
You keep holding on
And you never let go
Two beasts
One burden
Let 'em out
So they grow
Two wings unbroken
Let 'em out
Free to fly home
And you keep on keepin' on
With your head to the wind
And you keep on keepin' on
And you will win, yeah!
You never say nothin'
When you're hoping for something
You never say nothin'
When you're searching for something
Two beasts
One bargain
Let 'em out
To enjoy the show
Two dreams
One open coffin
Let 'em out
Before they go
You keep holding on
And you never let go
You keep holding on
And you never let go
Oh, you never let go
Let this go, my spiritual boundries
Take me to where I should be
Slip into this unwanted torture
There are so many things you can see
Come sit and surround me
And I will set you free, yeah
Come sit and surround me
Well, I'm gonna show you how to believe
Love the woes of man
They seem to shine so bright
The temptress hangs her weary glance
While the morning calls to the night
The thought to break this mighty journey
So simple are the few
The come before this path of worry
What should they do?
Come sit and surround me
And I will set you free, yeah
Come sit and surround me
Well, I'm gonna show you how to believe
Come sit and surround me
And I will set you free
With the sunrise, you can see yourself
With the sunrise, you can see yourself
Well I know, things are better now yeah
Well I know, the change it comes so hard yes
Well I know, it lights a brighter day
Well I know, some things must be the same
Sunrise, you can see yourself
With the sunrise, you can see yourself
You tried so hard
You tried so hard
You tried so hard
And you wake up to find something more in your life and
There she is, never letting go
In a monastery inside Soho
There's a paintbrush
In a painted hand
And she's caring for me
Cause she cares for her man
Whoa
She's a poor crusader
On a distant ship
She's a miner for time
On a broken tip
She's a fiery deity
She's a pauper in this society
It can't phase her
It can't put her down
It can't phase her
It can't put her down
She's looking out the window
Catching the full moonbeams
She's looking out the window
Checking out what she can see, yeah
Cause there she is, never letting go
In a monastery inside Soho
There's a paintbrush
In a painted hand
And she's caring for me
Cause she cares for her man
Soldiers of the fortune
Looking for the kill
Soldiers of the fortune
They turn their backs
They turn their backs at will
Just a crying poet
In a bed of thieves
Searching for the label
Trying to, trying to succeed
Four thousand ladies marching
Moving in for the kill
Four thousand ladies watching
As that cold-hearted rocker's
Still inside of you
Through their eyes of wisdom
Through their eyes you see
Through their eyes of wisdom
You turn to look, you turn to look at me
Just another chapter
Waiting on the verse
It turns itself to laughter
It turns into, it turns into a curse
It's such a hard road to follow
With a scepter in your hand
So sad to leave it
So sad to leave a love
So sad to leave it
So sad to leave a love
How about the heroes?
Well, the come and they go
Well, they're the believers
And in their lives they show
Well, we're the wanderers
In this life we lead
We're searching for wisdom
But will we learn how to feed, oh no!
I can see it in my life sometimes
Too many chances and the waiting goes by
For a love I would give it all
I'd erase the world, I'd risk it all
So sad to leave it
So sad to leave a love
So sad to leave it
So sad to leave a love
How about the mercy?
And the faithfulness
The cold wind it blows me
And I blame it on this
There's too many thoughts here
And I need some way, some way to guide me
Oh, it gets harder everyday, oh my
I can see it in my life sometimes
Too many chances and the waiting goes by
For a love I would give it all
I'd erase the world, I'd risk it all
I can see it in my life sometimes
Too many chances and the waiting goes by
For a love I would give it all
I'd erase the world, I'd risk it all
So sad to leave it
So sad to leave a love
So sad to leave it
I'm on a sleepy little train to Memphis
Tijuana's on my mind
I'm on a sleepy little train to Memphis
Tijuana's on my mind
Said my woman she done left me
She's Mexico-bound tonight
All right, if you got yourself a woman boy
Better learn to treat her right
You got yourself a woman boy
Better learn to treat her right
You're gonna wake up some day
She'll be out the door
She'll be out of sight, yeah all aboard
Yeah a little story telling
You got to get back to the basics boy
Learn to treat her well
Don't you go treating her bad
She's gonna put you through hell
Don't you ever tell her no
Yeah! You know that's really, really bad
You're gonna wake up someday
Don't you save me
From my evil ways
Don't you save me
From this heavenly haze
Don't you save me
From your evil spells
Don't you save me
From this heavenly hell
From this heavenly hell
She's broken
He's gone
She's broken
He's gone
Don't you forsake me
I've gone my evil ways
Don't you forsake me
I've come here to say
Don't you forsake me
From the evil I've endured
Don't you forsake me
From this heavenly cure
From this heavenly cure
She's broken
He's gone
She's broken
He's gone
She says that I never knew
She says that I never knew
She says that I never knew
She says that I never knew
She's broken
He's gone
She's broken
She's been known to wander off into imaginary places
She's been known to roam
She's been known to wander off into this darker stretch
They don't like to see
She likes to move it
She likes to groove it
It feels good inside
Now one time there was this little bitty incident, yes
They don't like to talk about
Suppression, repression, in her mind the hatred's there
But she don't know what it's about
She likes to move it
She likes to groove it
It feels good inside
Oh, she's been saved
She's been saved for me
Oh, she's been saved
And now I'm gonna set her free
Oh, she's been saved
I'm gonna set her free
So she can believe
She likes to move it
She likes to groove it
It feels good inside
She's been known to wander off into imaginary places
She's been known to roam
She's been known to go off into this darker stretch, yes
They don't like to see
She likes to move it
She likes to groove it
It feels good inside
She likes to move it
Take a little look, tell me what do you see?
Is your future uncertain? Why can't you believe?
Your heart's always wild, always searching for more
You're not meek or mild, so why don't you open the door?
You sing!
You were blind in the face, when the fables were told
Caught up in the race for the glory and the gold
Now the ages have passed, but your time has come
There's nowhere to run, there's nowhere to go
You sing!
When the morning comes, which way to run?
Hallowed be Thy holy Son
We may be bound to this human ground
But you can't stop the world spinning round 'n' round
They say one size, one size fits all!
So what would you do if you were given your wish?
Would you keep the charm or would you pass the dish?
Would you try to run, do you think you could hide?
Would you like me to lead, I can be your guide
You sing
Oh Lord, what have I done here?
Oh Lord, would it hurt to set me free?
Well I came upon the evil
Locked horns with the devil
Well I came upon the evil
And I took it in the hand
Well I came upon the evil
Locked horns with the devil
Is there anything left for me
Here in this land
Too much light
Not enough shade to shelter
Too much light
There's not enough shade to cover me
Well I don't need no fairy tales
Oh no lullabyes for me
All I need is my peace of mind
Just a little time, got to ease my mind
Come on and set me free oh Lord!
Well I came upon the evil
Locked horns with the devil
Well I came upon the evil
And I washed it from my hands
Well I came upon the evil
I locked horns with the devil
Is there anything left for me
No matter what you say
Can't carry the distance
No matter what you say
Can't carry the whole world
No matter what you say
Can't carry the distance
No matter what you say
Can't carry this whole world
You do right by wrong
You do right by wrong
You do right by wrong
You do right in your wrong
You're taking my world away
You're taking my world away
You're taking my world away
Please don't take my world away
Staring at you
Staring at me
Falling on you
When you're falling on me
Dreaming of two
When there's soon to be three
Hoping for hope
When there's none to be seen
You do right by wrong
You do right by wrong
You do right by wrong
You do right in your wrong
No matter what you say
Can't carry the distance
No matter what you say
Can't carry the whole world
No matter what you say
Can't carry the distance
No matter what you say
Can't carry this whole world
You do right by wrong
You do right by wrong
You do right by wrong
Fly away, take my hand
When we leave you'll understand
A true belief is hard to find
You will see, it just takes time
Baby but I never, ever wanted your love
Baby but I never, ever wanted your love
Slight of hand, twist of fate
All alone, you sit and wait
With no regrets and no remorse
Set the sails, I'll plot the coarse
Well now I know, all the things I should
I'll let you go 'cause there ain't much to lose
And I won't be singing the blues from lost love!
Hello, my friend Montague
What's in your head
What will you do
Eyes of plenty looking upon you
They say that you will haunt
Away said I
Before I give in to your pretties
Away said I
Before I give into your views
Away said I
Before I give in to your pretties
Away said I
Before I give into your views
And I know that I will
Hello, my friend Montague
Now we're dead
What will you do
How they come to see you with their eyes
They burn with their touch
Away said I
Before I give in to your pretties
Away said I
Before I give into your views
Away said I
Before I give in to your pretties
Away said I
Before I give into your views
And I know that I will
I see the lines
Your face among them
I see you eyes
They're burning holes out through me
Back and forth the force of fables
In the mourning call the torch
That you were able
I can see their face
Away said I
Before I give in to your pretties
Away said I
Before I give into your views
Away said I
Before I give in to your pretties
Away said I
Before I give into your views
And I know that I will
I've been abused
And I've been confused
And I've been evil
More than any man can say
I've been abused
And I've been confused
And I've been evil
More than any man can say
And now every man can say
I'm the leader
Fighting for his fairy tale
Manic Man
Don't forget your lines
The poet mourning his epitaph
Another member to this useless lie
Go on, you're forgotten
Go on with your pale blue eyes
Go on, it's forgotten
I've been abused
And I've been confused
And I've been evil
More than any man can say
And now every man can say
I've been abused
And I've been confused
And I've been evil
More than any man can say
I've been abused
And I've been confused
And I've been evil
More than any man can say
And now every man can say
I'm the leader
Fighting for his fairy tale
Manic Man
Don't forget your lines
The poet mourning his epitaph
Another member to this useless lie
Go on, you're forgotten
Go on with your pale blue eyes
Forever is the word
Well it takes a nasty turn
A little puppet on a string
It doesn't matter what he sings
It's not the joker or the queen
It's not anything they see
Step inside come with me
I'll take you to where you want to be
And she sang?
Lies, you're tempting me with lies
You hurt me with these lies
And then you want to talk about it
Lies, you're hurting me with lies
You tempt me with these lies
And then you want to talk about it
So let yourself be me
Look inside what can you see
Can you let yourself be me?
Look inside what do you see
I'm not your puppet on a string
I'm not a master of anything
You can walk, walk on by
And you can dream in your eyes
Lies, you're tempting me with lies
You hurt me with these lies
And then you want to talk about it
Lies, you're hurting me with lies
You tempt me with these lies
And then you want to talk about it
You've left yourself out in the cold
What are you doing there my friend, again.
With nowhere left for you to roam.
Will you make it back, back to me my friend.
She sang?
Lies, you're tempting me with lies
You hurt me with these lies
And then you want to talk about it
Lies, you're hurting me with lies
You tempt me with these lies
To flow between these broken walls
Is such a sad sight to see
Make-believe you know it all
When you decide to talk to me
It's just wasted time
On this sad and lonely day
And it's such a crime
But it's the price we pay
Now paisley is the color of art
It's such a winding fairy tale
A warmer welcome to your heart
But then it all turns stale
I will let you in
I will let you be
I will let you in
Inside of me now baby!
She's a walk of endless time
I'm telling you she's fair
Try to hold back eyes of darkness
I'll lend you the money, honey
I'll lend you the money, girl
So many ways to love a man
So many ways to be true
These are things you don't understand
That's why it's happening to you
Life says do you ever want
Forty words less demands
Whoa how they haunt
Forget your worries babe
Won't you put them aside
Well I'll be the one who's there
Lack of water
Got to free yourself
Maybe I'm to blame
But it's not too far to see
Got to close the curtains
Before I get free
Shelter is a place
That I would like to behold
Better get to getting
Before I get old
All I need is the water
Times are changing
Worlds are breaking turning me around
Never run for shelter
Cause I can't hear the sound
Try so hard to leave it
But it takes me away
Pushing back the power
Now it's so sad to say
Maybe I'm to blame
But it's not too far to see
Got to close the curtains
Before I get free
Shelter is a place
That I would like to behold
Better get to getting
How I need ya shot of Venus
And you sweep this holy vault
He's a mover tiny groover
And he knows when to leave it all
Shot of evil so long to evil ways
Too much left to discover
Try to take my soul try to take my world
You tried to put me under
It's all right it's O.K.
I don't need no loving today
It's all right it's O.K.
I don't need nobody nobody but me
Sway to the loving
And you hold what you have in store
You try to believe
And you know what to ignore
When the poet pounds the sounds they go round
They put you on the floor
But then the bell it rings
When the singer sings yeah!
Too late you're out the door
Well I can feel it in your loving
Well I can believe in your love
And I can see it in your loving
Well I can believe in your love
Come on baby tell me I'm the one
Gonna love you all night long
Take you places where you've never ever been
Make the little girl want to sin, yeah! yeah!
He's a mover tiny groover
He holds his head up high
She's a warm embrace
She's a smiling face
She's the apple the apple of my eye
Do you ever think that
Maybe we can be the way things were
You'll come around-
But it's too late, lady!
Don't you-
Don't you ever think about the way it could be
Don't you run away
If you think that you can walk this line
(and never fall in)
Answer only to you
You say things you need to
