A rent-cheque away from being a bum, Exley finds himself thrust into a perilous journey when his estranged mother calls to tell him that she is dying and needs him by her bedside on the other side of the world. Luce may refer to:
Renan Luce (born 5 March 1980, Paris) is a French singer and songwriter. His songs are inspired by the 20th century singer and songwriter Georges Brassens and depict everyday life with a dose of humour and poetry.
Born in Paris, Luce spent all his childhood and adolescence in Plourin-les-Morlaix, Brittany.
His musical career started in a choir with his brother Damien and his sister Claire, afterwards he began classical piano at the conservatory of Brest and then at Saint-Brieuc. He gave up the piano for the saxophone and then taught himself the guitar on which he composed his first songs.
After two years of preparatory classes in Rennes, where he performed in bars and at a few festivals (e.g., support act for Matmatah), he was admitted to the superior school of commerce in Toulouse. He is married to Lolita Sechan, the daughter of Renaud.
He has been successful in France with the songs like "Les Voisines" and "La Lettre".
In September 2006 Renan Luce released his first album Repenti that comprises 13 tracks + 3 live versions. The album ended up selling more than 800.000 copies.
Édith Piaf (US /piːˈɑːf/ or UK /ˈpiːæf/; French: [eˈdit pjaf]; 19 December 1915 – 11 October 1963), born Édith Giovanna Gassion, was a French singer and cultural icon who became widely regarded as France's national popular singer, as well as being one of France's greatest international stars. Her singing reflected her life, with her specialty being ballads. Among her songs are "La Vie en rose" (1946), "Non, je ne regrette rien" (1960), "Hymne à l'amour" (1949), "Milord" (1959), "La Foule" (1957), "l'Accordéoniste" (1955), and "Padam... Padam..." (1951).
Despite numerous biographies, much of Piaf's life is shrouded in mystery. She was born Édith Giovanna Gassion in Belleville, Paris. Legend has it that she was born on the pavement of Rue de Belleville 72, but her birth certificate cites the Hôpital Tenon, the hospital for the 20th arrondissement of which Belleville is part.
She was named Édith after the World War I British nurse Edith Cavell, who was executed for helping French soldiers escape from German captivity. Piaf—an argot colloquialism for "sparrow"—was a nickname she would receive 20 years later.
Guesch Patti, (16 March 1946), born Patricia Porasse, is a French singer.
Patti was born in Paris, France. She chose her artist name from the nickname she had as a child Guesch. Patti is a nickname for Patricia.
Guesch Patti first started her career at dancing at age 9 when she performed in a ballet at the Opéra National de Paris, working with Roland Petit, then at contemporary dance with Carolyn Carlson and Pina Bausch, and finally at variety dance on television.
After having accompanied the pianist Yves Gilbert, she decided to begin a singer career and recorded two discs in 1965 that passed unnoticed. In 1984, Patti participated in the trio named 'Dacapo', and had her first solo hit in 1987/1988 with "Étienne", which was certified gold disc in France. This song sold more than half a million copies and was ranked #1 in several countries, including France and Italy. Labyrinthe, released a short time after, was also successful : in 1988, it won a Victoire de la Musique in the category 'Female révélation of the year', which is awarded to best new artists. Another single, "Let Be Must the Queen", was a minor hit, peaking at #25 in France and #21 in Austria.
Ascoltami
Ora so piangere
So che ho bisogno di te
Non ho mai saputo fingere
Ti sento vicino
Il respiro non mente
In tanto dolore
Niente di sbagliato
Niente, niente...
Dove sei dolce angelo?
Dove i tuoi sguardi per me?
Forse non sei esistita mai
o forse esisti solo per me...
E ti nascondi qui
Qui tra i miei sogni qui
E ti nascondi qui
Non svegliatemi, io resto...
Qui coi suoi occhi ho visto mondi
che nessuno ha visto mai
Luci di citt? esistenti
ai confini dell'eternit?
Dove sei dolce angelo?
Dove i tuoi sguardi per me?
Tu che non dicendo niente
mai hai risposto ai miei perch?,
perch?...
E ti nascondi qui
Qui tra i miei sogni qui
E ti nascondi qui
Ti prego ascoltami'...
Ti prego,no!
Mio angelo!
Ti prego,no!
...Non mi lasciare!
I’ve covered myself
Forgave all my sins
Jump in the pool
And float around, around the deep end
Like I’m up on a wire, without a net
But I’m without a circus, without a tent
I want you to understand
That I’m just saving myself
I’m blooming like daffodils
On the sunniest of weekends
On the sunniest of weekends
I’ve resurrected myself
Back from the dead
Fountain of youth sprang
Oh, I sprung again
I’m my own hero in a superman suit
That I wear with my brand new pair, brand new pair of converse shoes
Everyone understands
That I’m just shedding my skin
Blooming like daffodils
On the sunniest of weekends
On the sunniest of weekends
Standing on the surface of the sun
Well I reach out my hands
For you to come
Flying all around us
With heaven dust above
I’m looking off to say
I’ve resurrected myself
What I now reap is all that I’ve sown
Pull out the weeds
Stand back and I watch myself grow
Higher and higher
Into the sky
Into my own galaxy
Where I reach the sacred site
Everyone understands
Yeah-ah, we’re all saving ourselves
Blooming like daffodils
On the sunniest of weekends
On the sunniest of weekends
Ye-e-ah-ah Ye-e-ah-ah Ye-e-ah-ah
Sunniest of weekends
Ye-e-ah-ah Ye-e-ah-ah Ye-e-ah-ah
It was a dark, depressing party ‘til she came into the room
She wore a neon-colored vinyl skirt that brightened up my view
There was a mutual attraction of a woman and a man
But it was me who had the growing situation on his hands
So I just stood there in the middle there
Yeah ooh yeah
She moved a little closer
I felt my blood begin to rise
I saw that she was coming over by that look inside her eyes
So I just stood there in the middle there
Yeah ooh
I just stood there in the middle there
Chorus
I just stood there in the middle
Wondering where I should put my hands
To cover up the rising thoughts of times to come – my future plans
And all the while she stood there staring, bearing down on everything
While I just stood there wondering what she could see
Now what’s the mess…
So I cursed at Mother Nature for making me look like such a jerk
I thought of sticks and bricks and pushing pins but nothing seemed to work
And then with the prettiest of smiles she walked up and said hello
And then I watched her as her eyes gazed down on me below
So I just stood there in the middle there
Yeah ooh
I just stood there in the middle there
Chorus
One… Two… Three
2 x Chorus
Well I stood there in the middle there
Yeah I’ve stood there in the middle there
Yeah I’ve stood there in the middle there
All the air that we breathe enters you
But enters me deeper, yeah, deeper
That big boat on which you float
Does it in the shallowest of water, waters
Well, you lie down, sit, and you stay
I'm telling you there's a better way
If you open up your big mouth
You could let it, let it out
Wonder where you are, I do
You dropped into something, I do
Wonder where you are
Am I coming through?
Yeah, am I coming through?
Yeah, yeah, right
Well, you can't hide much longer inside
So get out of whatever it is you're into, you're into
Or is the damage worse than I feared
You wishing you could disappear?
If you open up your big head
You could let somebody in
Wonder where you are, I do
Jumped into something, I do
Wonder where you are
Am I coming through?
Am I coming through?
Am I coming through?
Am I coming through?
Am I coming through?
I thought that you were okay
We got high the other day
But your head was numb
You're not the only one
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, alright
Wonder where you are, I do
Jumped into something, I do
Wonder where you are
Wonder where you are, I do
Wonder where you are, I do
Houston, come in guys, my friends we're okay, yeah
Rocket's launched and we're floating out in space
It's been a long day but we got away, we really got away
And the truth is we're not comin' back
We're gonna wear these butterfly shoes and I don't get the blues
And what I was and what I was and what I was
'Cause it's a long way down to where we don't belong
And what I got, what I got, what I got, I wanna give away
Yeah, it's a long way down to where we don't belong
And what I got, what I got, what I got, I wanna give away
Houston, are you there, my friends we're not scared
Got lots of room, room to move around, yeah
And we're gonna try to back this thing up to get a view
Of the planet earth, I hear it's really blue
And it's a long way down to where we don't belong
And what I got, what I got, what I got, I wanna give away
Yeah, it's a long way down to where we don't belong
And what I got, what I got, what I got, I wanna give away
Houston, anyone, answer if you're there
Our view of earth has finally disappeared, yeah
And it was a great thing to see our planet out there in the distance
Togetherness, togetherness at last, last
And it's a long way down to where we don't belong
And what I got, what I got, what I got, I wanna give away
Yeah, it's a long way down to where we don't belong
And what I got, what I got, what I got, I wanna give away
It's a long way, it's a long way
It's a long way, it's a long way
It's a long way, it's a long way
Well I wake up to a sky so blue
With my girlfriend in the other room
Got the coffee on and the pancakes done
I can’t sleep I’m outside in the sun
The tv sings its morning blues
And it’s all the same with all the news
But she walks up, smiles and kisses me
And says your coffee’s done.
And starts singing.
Yeah yeah yeah
She is singing.
Well it’s a pretty good day.
I’m lookin’ forward to tomorrow
We’ll have a pretty good day.
Yeah yeah yeah
Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
We’ll have a pretty good day
Yeah we’ll have a good day.
So I lace my boots up and step outside
Catch a cab because my car died
And I go to work with my friend Dan
Paintin’ houses the best we can
On my way back home I try and mix it up
Walk halfway then take a bus
And as it pulls up and the doors open
I hear the bus driver say step up please
Step up. And I’m singing
Yeah yeah yeah
And I’m singing yeah yeah yeah yeah
Some guy looks over and says ‘how ya doin’?’
I say Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
I’ll have a pretty good day
Yeah yeah yeah
Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
I’ll have a pretty good day
Yeah I’ll have a good day
And through the window
There’s a whole world
And I’m watching all the people
All the faces and the places I have yet to go
And the sunshine now it’s fading
And my girlfriend she’s waiting
And I bet that she’s outside
Sleeping in the shade
Cause it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
I’ll have a pretty good day
Yeah yeah yeah
Well it’s a pretty good day
I’m looking forward to tomorrow
I’ll have a pretty good day
Yeah, I’ll have a good day
It’s a good day
Yeah yeah
Karen blows the smoke across
The table to the seat I'm in
And blood is passed around in glasses
"Vintage year", she says again
She says again
As I sit here choking on my food
Like words we've swallowed deep inside
Well, there's a polka dotted dog
Who keeps barking as the cars go by
Barkin' as the cars go by
And it's that stupid dog's tail
That I see us chase
But she can't see it on my face
'Cause I'm home in this electric chair
'Cause I'm home in this electric chair
'Cause I'm home in this electric chair
Well, I'm home
So we watch the clock tic quietly
As it syncs itself to our heartbeats
And then Karen stands up with her glass
And another toast to everyone she cares about
Everyone she cares about
And I'm really turned off
By the fact she cares
But she doesn't understand
That I'm home in this electric chair
That I'm home in this electric chair
That I'm home in this electric chair
That I'm home
So we sit down as I kiss her goodnight
And she straps my buckles all down tight
Upon my cheek she lays a kiss
Then she plugs me in and throws the switch
In my electric chair
In my electric chair
'Cause in my electric chair I'm home
Yeah, I'm home, yeah, well, I'm home
Yeah, well, I'm home
The blue, blue, bluest skies
Are heading my way
My finest days in life
Are coming to stay
'Cause after tomorrow
I'm no longer for sale
'Cause after tomorrow
I'm keeping myself
I hang my laundry out
To dry in the sun
And I take my suitcase down
And fill it with stuff
'Cause after tomorrow
I'm no longer for sale
I'll give back the sorrow, yeah
But I'm keeping myself
I'll give back the sorrow, yeah
But I'm keeping myself
My last blank notebook page
Is up on my empty wall
Where I write my story down
Then I turn and walk out
It says after tomorrow
I'm no longer for sale
I'll give back the sorrow
But I'm keeping myself, yeah
'Cause after tomorrow
I'm no longer for sale
I'll give back the sorrow, sorrow
