Mario Kart 8 - Hacking the gravity!

Because why the hell not. Apologies for low quality, it's another stream recording. From hereon out, I'll make sure to do high quality captures of absolutely everything, because we need glorious moments like these to be crisp and clear :P Mario Kart 8 controls gravity by a means called a "gravity path". The gravity path is a series of cubes of anti-gravity, effectively, controlled by the "course_muunt.byaml" file of the track (the new KMP format, basically). The individual cubes have their own gravity direction, and when you drive into one, you get the whole anti-grav wheels going on and whatnot, and the gravity changes direction to match that specified by the cube. So, in this video, we messed with the positions, size and direction of gravity on Water Park! In terms of useful functionality, well, we now know how it all works, so if we want to add anti-gravity to a custom track for MK8, it wouldn't be all that hard. The system is easy enough, and as we demonstrate, you can do some pretty nifty tricks with it. In terms of this video, we were just messing around, but I hope you enjoy nevertheless :P

Although this time we on a racetrack instead of on a battlefield. Mario Kart 8 recently launched for the Wii U (May 30th...My Birthday!) and we came to the conclusion that it was a game that needs to be recorded simply because of the constant stream of Shenanigans that plagues the series and its players. There will be lots of laughs, lots of frustrations, and lots of bullshit. We hope you enjoy...we know we slightly did hah. The series will also receive very little editing (Much Like the Worms Series) Just trimming the lobby time to get the next games going as fast as possible...and if you happen to be reading this description...I hope that's okay. Actually...if your reading this, include the word "Koopa" in your comment. I'd like to know haha Mario Kart originally came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in the early 90's and even from a young age it was one of my favorites. Now, I never had a SNES, but my aunt did...and let me tell you...between Mickeys Quest, Super Mario World, and Mario kart...I was really hoping my aunt would adopt me, that is how much I adored this game haha. A lot has changed since it's inception though...there are even a lot of changes from the previous 3DS title as well. (Mario Kart 7) One thing that I have realized is that the game now puts an emphasis on actual racing instead of the items. Which is good and bad. Since there are a lot of cart customization options, no two people will ever be on equal ground essentially meaning that some Karts will just be down right superior. Also, No longer can you be in last place and still make it to the top spot just by getting a few items. You need to memorize the maps, and hope an almighty shitstorm reigns upon first place because items generally seem less potent. Meaning...if you're stuck in last...you'll probably be finishing in last. There also seems to be some item inbalances as well. The Star Power is absolutely useless, while bullet bill is overpowered to an extreme. I'm hoping a patch comes out to balance some things after Nintendo gets feedback, but knowing Nintendo...that wont happen Still, this isn't meant to be a super realistic racing game, it's meant to be a fun and silly experience, and I feel they definitely nailed that. Welcome to Mario Kart 8, the brand new game for the Nintendo Wii U! This is the first Mario Kart game in beautiful HD, & they've also added some awesome features, including the new ATV, 9 new characters (2 of which have never been in any Mario game before), 4 new items (Boomerang Flower, Potted Piranha Plant, Super Horn, Crazy 8), & the brand new anti-gravity mechanic, which looks amazing as you follow the track upside-down. In total, there are 30 playable characters (Roster Spoilers: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisey, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, Toadette, Metal Mario, Lakitu, the Koopalings Larry, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Roy, Lemmy, & Ludwig, Pink Gold Peach, Baby Rosalina, and Mii),14 of which are unlocked randomly as you win cups in offline grand prix, 21 items, & 32 tracks: 16 new & 16 lovingly remade from past Mario Kart games. You've got to make sure we're collecting a ton of coins, not just because they make you drive faster, but they're also used to unlock the 14 karts, 9 bikes, 3 ATVs, 18 tire types, and 11 gliders. Just like in Mario Kart 7, you can custom select your vehicle, tires, & glider. Make sure you press + to see your stats when you change parts out! Every driver can use every part, but their weight class will change stats & how big of a target you are. Outside of the Grand Prix cups, you can also play Time trials, plus local & online VS or Battle Modes. Bikes, gliders, and underwater driving also return.
