Jerry Buhlman talks about the forthcoming Publicis and Omnicom merger, the culture that exists within the advertising industry currently and what the future holds for both western and far eastern markets. Jerry Buhlman also gives us an insight into the impact online trends such as mobile, social and video are having on the advertising industry. Jerry has over 25 years' experience in the media and advertising industries. Jerry started his career at Young & Rubicam before moving to WCRS. In 1989 he founded BBJ, later renamed Vizeum, in the UK and built the agency business before it was acquired by Aegis Media in 1999. From 2000 to 2003 Jerry held the position of CEO of Carat International, responsible for the network's international clients. He was promoted in 2003 to the position of CEO Aegis Media EMEA until May 2008 when he was promoted again to the position of CEO Aegis Media taking global responsibility for the largest of the two divisions of Aegis Group plc, at the same time as being appointed as a PLC Board Director. Jerry was appointed Chief Executive of Aegis Group plc in March 2010. In 2010 Jerry, who lives in Surrey, England, oversaw the largest acquisition in Aegis Group history when Mitchell and Partners became part of Aegis Media and in 2011 he led the transformational disposal of Synovate, the market research company to Ipsos S.A for £528 million. This saw Aegis become the world's leading focused media and digital communications specialist. Following the acquisition of Aegis Group plc by Dentsu Inc. in 2013, Jerry was appointed CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network which covers all of Aegis Media and Dentsu operations outside of Japan. In July 2013 Jerry became only the second non-Japanese Executive Officer of Dentsu Inc.
