add video playlist US and European airlines have suspended flights into Israel's Ben Gurion airport after a rocket landed one mile (1.6km) away. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered three US carriers that fly to Israel - Delta, United and US Airways - to halt flights for 24 hours. Europe's aviation regulator is also urging airlines not to fly to Tel Aviv. Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France had cancelled flights to the city even before the regulator's warning. The move comes amid heightened scrutiny over flights near conflict zones. Israel's Transportation Ministry asked the airlines to reverse their decision, saying the airport was "safe for landings and departures". "Ben Gurion Airport is safe and completely guarded and there is no reason whatsoever that American companies would stop their flights and hand terror a prize," it said in a statement. European reaction A spokesperson from the European Aviation Safety Agency said the organisation would be sending out a a bulletin by Wednesday and that it would contain a "strong recommendation" that airlines should avoid the airport. Ahead of that, Lufthansa - which includes Swiss, Germanwings and Austrian Airlines - said it had decided to suspend flights to Israel for two days. KLM and Air France also said they had suspended flights scheduled to depart on Tuesday. However, Air France said a flight scheduled for Wednesday is still scheduled to depart. Flight diverted Delta said a flight from New York City to Tel Aviv was diverted to Paris on Tuesday after Israeli police confirmed that a rocket landed approximately one mile (1.6km) from Ben Gurion airport. Both Delta and United said they had suspended operations in Israel for the near future - beyond the FAA's 24-hr period. US Airways said it had not yet made a decision. British Airways said in response to questions on Twitter: "We are closely monitoring the situation. Our flights are currently operating as scheduled." The halt in service comes less than a week after Israel began a ground operation in Gaza, and as airlines around the world re-think their flight paths over conflict areas in the wake of the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine.

Two trains collided and derailed in Slinger Sunday night, causing at least 60 homes in the area to be evacuated. Two crew members on a Canadian National train were injured with non-life threatening injures.

It happened at the Highway 144 crossing in Slinger around 8:30 p.m.

According to our reporter on the scene, there were about 30 technicians cleaning the area from Canadian National and Wisconsin Southern Railroads Monday morning.

The tracks were not parallel with one another, and the trains did not collide head on. Rather, the tracks intersect each other, going in different directions, and the trains collided in the middle.

European And American Airlines Suspend Flights To Israel.

US and European airlines have suspended flights into Israel's Ben Gurion airport after a rocket landed one mile (1.6km) away.

"There was lumber on the ground from a couple lumber cars," said Slinger Fire Chief Rick Hanke. "The engines, two of them are in line with the track, one is perpendicular to the track, so there is twisted metal and so forth." A total of 13 cars derailed, including three locomotives carrying diesel fuel and 10 cars carrying sand, plastic pellets and lumber. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. "srael and the Hamas militant group agreed to a cease-fire Wednesday to end eight days of the fiercest fighting in nearly four years, promising to halt air strikes and rocket attacks that have killed scores and to discuss easing an Israeli blockade constricting the Gaza Strip. Cheering Gazans emerged from their homes after a week, flooding the streets in wild celebration. Gunmen fired in the air, and chants of "God is Great" echoed from mosque loudspeakers. Residents hugged and kissed in celebration, while others distributed candy and waved Hamas flags. "I just hope they commit to peace," said Abdel-Nasser al-Tom, from northern Gaza."* Is this a rehash of what's been going on in a cycle in the Middle East for decades?
