"Davao Gulf Save Our Shores (SOS) in Earth Day 2014" Davao Gulf Save Our Shores 2014 dubbed as "Katawhan Katambayayong sa Kahinlo sa Kabaybayunan" in celebration of the Earth Day 2014 aims to clean and make our shoreline replenished through the means of bayanihan. The clean-up drive started at Toril to Lasang all of Davao City that adheres mainly on the restoration of our seashore which we all know is one of our natural resources that attracts thousands of tourists making it one of Davao's pride wherein we really need to preserve and maintain. This Earth Day 2014 is more than an event but an appeal for the people that indeed we need to be responsible enough and be accountable of our own garbage and waste materials. Nowadays, everybody is experiencing global warming or climate change and that Davao has been one of its victims during the typhoon Pablo hit its provinces. Lives were losts, properties were ruined and dreams have been crushed. This time, we need to learn our lesson and be aware of the consequences of our actions. We really cannot stop the drastic change that is happening but we can still do our part by lessening the pollution and helping our environment sustain its life not only for us but also for the next generations to come. The venture was actively participated by LGU-Davao, Eastern Mindanao Command, Task Force Davao, 5th CRG, CRS, AFP, Abreeza Ayala Malls, Alveo, Seda, Avida, C-One Trading Corporation, MDC, React Philippines, BPI, We-Aim, Rotary Club International, Sea Shepherd, JCI Durian City Incorporation, Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas and all participating barangays who showed their support were Lapu-lapu, 21-C, Matina Aplaya, Daliao, Agdao Centro, 23-C, Talomo, Lizada, Pampanga, Duterte, 31-D, Bago Aplaya, Sirawan, Hizon, Leon Garcia, 76-A, Dumoy, Binugao and Panacan respectively. We are hoping that this is not the end but the beginning of something greater that would bring change not only to the seashores but to our environment as a whole. It is our deepest desire that this activity will convince our Davao residents to be more aware in making our Earth a better place to live in. Finally, the Davao Gulf (SOS) Earth Day 2014 was a very successful activity and was participated by both government and non-government organizations as well by the residents of the partaking barangays of the said event. Depicted were the happy countenances of the participants which surely have established an impression to them that they need to take care of the environment for this is where we live at and thus we have the responsibility to be accountable of it.
