Victor Vasarely (French/Hungarian, 1906-1997) is internationally recognized as one of the most important artists of the 20th century. As founder of the Op Art movement, Vasarely's innovations in color and optical illusion majorly influenced the principals of modern art. Victor Vasarely -- The Rediscovery of the Painter (Die Wiederentdeckung des Malers) at Museum Haus Konstruktiv in Zürich (Switzerland) looks back at the work of the Hungarian-French artist, who once was extremely popular with his op art, but then has been forgotten. Vasarely (1906-1997) studied at the art school Műhely, the so-called "Budapest Bauhaus". In 1930, Vasarely moved to Paris where he worked as a commercial graphic designer and simultaneously began to develop his artistic language of forms. Exhibition curator Serge Lemoine states that Victor Vasarely "gave priority to the composition, to the relationships and contrasts, to playing with color tones, and integrated the phenomena of perception into his work more and more." The exhibition at Haus Konstruktiv is a collaboration with Musée d'Ixelles, Brussels, and EMMA -- Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Espoo.

Victor Vasarely gilt als einer der Mitbegründer der Op-Art, einer Stilrichtung der Pop-Art. Der in Ungarn geborene Vasarely arbeitet zunächst als Werbegrafiker in Paris. Insbesondere die Arbeit mit Werbeplakaten beeinflusste sein späteres künstlerisches Schaffen, in dem optische Täuschungen, grafische Muster und räumliche Illusionen die stilbildenden Elemente darstellen.
Sein "Gelbes Manifest" stellt auch theoretische Forderungen an die Kunst auf, die sich in den 1960er Jahren in den Werken der Op-Art widerspiegeln. Hier herrschen geometrische Grundformen und reine Farben vor, die zu präzisen, teils irritierenden Mustern und kinetischen Effekten zusammengefügt werden.
Vasarely entwickelte sich zum bekanntesten und auch erfolgreichsten Vertreter der Op-Art und war mit seinen Werken unter anderem auf den documenta-Ausstellungen 1 bis 4 vertreten.

Victor Vasarely (French: [viktɔʁ vazaʁəli]; Hungarian: [ˈviktor ˈvɒzɒrɛlːi]; born Vásárhelyi Győző [ˈvaːʃaːrhɛji ˈɟøːzøː]; ( 1906-04-09)9 April 1906 – 15 March 1997( 1997-03-15)), was a Hungarian–French artist, who is widely accepted as a "grandfather" and leader of the short-lived op art movement.
His work entitled Zebra, created in the 1930s, is considered by some to be one of the earliest examples of op art.
Life and work
Vasarely was born in Pécs and grew up in Pöstyén (now Piešťany, Slovakia) and Budapest, where in 1925 he took up medical studies at Eötvös Loránd University. In 1927, he abandoned medicine to learn traditional academic painting at the private Podolini-Volkmann Academy. In 1928/1929, he enrolled at Sándor Bortnyik's private art school called Műhely (lit. "Workshop", in existence until 1938), then widely recognized as Budapest's centre of Bauhaus studies. Cash-strapped, the műhely could not offer all that the Bauhaus offered. Instead it concentrated on applied graphic art and typographical design.

Victor Vasarely gilt als einer der Mitbegründer der Op-Art, einer Stilrichtung der Pop-Art. Der in Ungarn geborene Vasarely arbeitet zunächst als Werbegrafiker in Paris. Insbesondere die Arbeit mit Werbeplakaten beeinflusste sein späteres künstlerisches Schaffen, in dem optische Täuschungen, grafische Muster und räumliche Illusionen die stilbildenden Elemente darstellen.
Sein "Gelbes Manifest" stellt auch theoretische Forderungen an die Kunst auf, die sich in den 1960er Jahren in den Werken der Op-Art widerspiegeln. Hier herrschen geometrische Grundformen und reine Farben vor, die zu präzisen, teils irritierenden Mustern und kinetischen Effekten zusammengefügt werden.

L'exposition Onde Pixel - Lo Sguardo di...Miguel Chevalier propose un dialogue entre une série d'oeuvres fixes et en mouvement de l'artiste et la collection d'UniCredit.
Parmi ces oeuvres, une grande installation numérique générative et interactive Onde Pixel projetée au sol, accompagnée de la musique du compositeur italien Jacopo Baboni Schilingi.
Ce tapis géant de lumière interactif se compose de différents tableaux virtuels qui se succèdent les uns après les autres, comprenant de motifs symboliques liés à l'univers digital, ainsi que de nouveaux tableaux/motifs inspirés de plusieurs oeuvres abstraites et cinétiques de la collection d’UniCredit, telles que les oeuvres de Enrico Castellani ou Victor Vasarely. Le spectateur est immergé dans un monde de formes et de couleurs sans cesse renouvelé.
The exhibition Onde Pixel – Lo Sguardo di … Miguel Chevalier offers a dialogue between a serie of Miguel Chevalier's artworks and UniCredit collection.
The exhibition also presents a big digital generative and interactive installation Onde Pixel projected on the floor with the music of the Italian composer Jacopo Baboni Schilingi.
This giant carpet of interactive lights is composed of different virtual paintings following each other which are made of symbolic paterns linked to the digital universe as well as new paterns inspired by several abstract artworks of UniCredit collection such as Enrico Castellani or Victor Vasarely.
The spectator is immersed in a world of forms, colors renewed constantly.
