Sorry for the wait x: ("wait"
... haha) I love love love this song. I actually started working on it right after it came out, but couldn't figure out the poem in the middle so I didn't sub it ;; I looked over it again yesterday and found a page with the background information, so I finally finished it. There were some parts where the agency was ambiguous, so I tried leaving more literally instead of interpreting them. Hopefully there aren't many mistakes. I hope you enjoy it!
Background:
In ancient times, a scholar fell in love with the daughter of a wealthy family, but they were opposed by the girl's family. Therefore they agreed to meet again in ten years, and the scholar left behind a folding fan, with his own inscription on it, with the girl. Ten years later, the scholar returned, but he had already become an officer who led thousands of troops. He defeated the emperor, and the family of the girl from years ago had already gone into decline and seclusion due to the imperial court's corruption. The scholar burned down the capital in a fit of anger. When he led his troops away, they passed by a village, and he saw that the girl had already become a woman. The scholar peacefully watched the girl for a while, and then sadly left.
Little did he know that the girl often cried silently, while holding the fan he had given her in the past.

Translation notes:
1:15 There is no way back [to the past]
1:36 As time passes, our feelings become like gauze --
Time passed very quickly, and their feelings, which used to be strong, are now weak like gauze. ;_;
1:47
Sinking spirits, i.e. becoming depressed
1:52 This poem... x:
Unfortunately I wasn't able to translate it as a poem this time, but there are a ton of notes on it. Here's the entire poem (courtesy of a kind commenter on Bilibili; my skill level is nowhere near high enough to read the font;;)
他年书生墨如尘
难入花城相府门
三生缘浅
闺门邸深
枯
半城牡丹
香
散去无痕
却斩一束情丝去
不成结发为路人
The flower city is
Luoyang, the city of the peony, which is a very significant flower in
Chinese culture. "Surpass" means "enter" (I was trying to make it kind of rhyme, but it turned out kind of
..) I think the minister is the girl's father, but I could be wrong about that.
"
Shallow" and "deep" contrast each other (and the same 浅深 also appears later in the song). The inner chamber's doors are deep because in ancient times, wealthy homes had many layers of rooms. You would have to go through many of these layers in order to reach the inner chambers, where the women lived.
According to another kind interpreter on Bilibili, the withered peonies line means that the scholar wants to return to the city in June, when the peonies wither, to overthrow the ruler.
Strands (bundle of threads) of emotions are cut off since they leave part of their hearts with the other person. Since they're now separated, that part of their heart that was left with the other person has now been severed from them.
The tying of hair is an important part of the traditional
Chinese marriage ceremony, so the last line means that they didn't end up getting married, and are instead just people who aren't connected with one another, but can just pass by each other on the road without interacting or communicating. I added "in vain" to try to convey a hopelessness (and it also goes with the translation I chose for the title;;)
2:42 It should be "all the prosperities" instead; sorry for the
error and thanks to saberbutterfly for the correction! It literally means 1000x1000x1000, or a very large and innumerable number.
