TELUS DAY OF GIVING, Romania - 2013
Commitment to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is a top priority for TELUS International family. TELUS International's culture has its roots in corporate social responsibility programs such as the TELUS Day of Giving when team members around the world donate their time and energy to build schools and homes and TELUS International Community Boards in the Philippines, El Salvador and Guatemala, which each donate $ 100,000 annually to local charities. TELUS International's philosophy -- we give where we live -- is about TELUS International and our team members making a difference. We were very happy to hold the first TELUS Day of Giving (TDOG) in Bulgaria and Romania on September 14, 2013 and September 21, 2013, respectively. About 300 team members in Sofia, Bulgaria and 120 in Bucharest, Romania donated one of their weekend days to make a difference in the lives of some of their fellow citizens. In Romania, our teams from Bucharest and Craiova, with the cooperation of the Romanian Red Cross, refurbished the Ciresarii Center for abused children in Bucharest by cleaning, repainting and renovating it. A team of 120 volunteers made the kids' home more colorful, fun and pleasant to live in. Our one-day contribution at the orphanage accounts for a total of 1,000 working hours and infinite smiles for the children. The action of painting may seem insignificant by itself, but when people join forces, and when there are organizations to unite them around a socially responsible activity, painting may bring positive change in the lives of those who really need it. The TELUS Day of Giving is one of many volunteer activities that our company organizes throughout the year. Others include blood donation Bucharest and Craiova and a tree planting event in Romania. Inspired and enthusiastic, our team is looking forward to next year's TELUS Day of Giving event to make a difference in the communities where we live, work and serve! SUBSCRIBE \ ABONAȚI-VĂ: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=17TURBOFREAK The Ghe-O Rescue truck - Ghe-O Rescue Romania HD 720p Rescue represents the ideal solution for, transportation, medical support and fire extinguish capabilities on a all form of terrain an weather. With off road solutions borrowed from racing and with a close to competition philosophy the performance version Rescue is in fact despite their truck look a very capable all terrain solution rivalising with any small racing equipped sport car. We can ad that because of the bigger wheels and mass distribution Rescue can outperform in most of the situation a two seats off road car with the difference that can do that with eleven person on board. We make this parallel between Rescue and or road racing just for a better understanding of the capabilities hidden under the general styling, in fact we can say that rescue have it's own class. With sizes like 5.200/2.700/2.390 and the weight of 3.2T rescue can have accessories like water pumps for firefighters, 620L water tank pneumatic pillows on wheels for a better floating on water or snow, tracks on rear wheels, on top cargo(foldable), medical stretch (with side door access), plow system, terratrip, gps The heavy duty transmission with lockable axles is powered by engines that can be on petrol(performance version) 340 to 500bhp, or diesel 218bhp or 304bhp, for military application the engines can have extra electromagnetic and water protection.- published: 18 Oct 2013

A Pattern Language
Featuring the Kugel Gips house in Wellfleet, MA, designed in 1970 by Cape Cod architect Charles Zehnder and restored by the Cape Cod Modern House Trust in 2009. This film was made during an artists' residency I had there in March 2010.
The title is taken from the book "A Pattern Language: Towns-Buildings-Construction" by Christopher Alexander. This book is the second in a trilogy that sets forth a structured architectural philosophy of self-designed environments.
This piece was shot on 16mm film using colored filters and single-frame exposures. The color was not manipulated in the digital edit. Each color corresponds to one of 5 notes in the Romanian B Minor scale.

The Performance Art Institute // Lucian Alexe - 7531362805421
The Performance Art Institute is pleased to present Badly Happy: Pain, Pleasure and Panic in Recent Romanian Art and As Far As I Can Tape which will introduce the Bay Area audience to the rich and complex art world of contemporary Romania.
Through the diverse and sometimes discordant media of performance & video art, painting, graphics, and objects, the exhibits will convey in visual terms the psyche of a world caught in the destructive and regenerative tornado triggered by the thrilling collapse of communism and its replacement with Wild West-style capitalism in 1989. The clash between this new, exciting, but ultimately disappointing reality and the nostalgia for an idealized experience of regained freedom propelled a disquieting, inciting and vivid artistic output.
The artists showcased in Badly Happy represent a generation which struggles to make sense out of the new, confusing, and rapidly changing post-communist world. They use art to question this world and its values: the victory of the anti-communist revolution, and the current (diminished!) state of its heroes; the women liberated, only to be turned into sex objects; the blaring new myths of happy, pleasurable life and lavishly decorous death; the cheap glamour made in China; the lie at the bottom of many political and military conflicts; the seduction of mass advertising, and the hollow gratification of consumerism.
As Far As I Can Tape presents a selection of video and performance artworks from a group of younger Romanian artists. The exhibit focuses on the new practice of videotaping as a means of active reality research. The works of these young artists display an almost complete disregard for showy technicalities, absence of overt social and political criticism, keen observation, particularly self observation, and a perception of the immediate world as the only reality there is. They use video art as a communication tool, disregarding its reflective quality.
Erwin Kessler, the curator of both exhibits, is a writer, and professor of art history and philosophy. He has organized and curated many highly successful exhibitions showcasing this talented and exciting generation of Romanian artists throughout Europe, in Vienna, Strasbourg, Lisbon, Prague, Budapest, and Krakow. This is his first show in North America.
