A conceptual model is a model made of the composition of concepts, which are used to help people know, understand, or simulate a subject the model represents. Some models are physical objects; for example, a toy model which may be assembled, and may be made to work like the object it represents.
The term conceptual model may be used to refer to models which are formed after a conceptualization or generalization process. Conceptual models are often abstractions of things in the real world whether physical or social. Semantics studies are relevant to various stages of concept formation and use as Semantics is basically about concepts, the meaning that thinking beings give to various elements of their experience.
The term conceptual model is normal. It could mean "a model of concept" or it could mean "a model that is conceptual." A distinction can be made between what models are and what models are models of. With the exception of iconic models, such as a scale model of Winchester Cathedral, most models are concepts. But they are, mostly, intended to be models of real world states of affairs. The value of a model is usually directly proportional to how well it corresponds to a past, present, future, actual or potential state of affairs. A model of a concept is quite different because in order to be a good model it need not have this real world correspondence. In artificial intelligence conceptual models and conceptual graphs are used for building expert systems and knowledge-based systems, here the analysts are concerned to represent expert opinion on what is true not their own ideas on what is true.

Get your free audiobook or ebook: http://zaxo.space/mabk/30/en/B00KQOADYI/book Here is the only book that gives you a comparison of model frameworks and a critique of multiple perspectives. Community Practice: Conceptual Models (along with its companion volume, Community Practice: Models in Action) illustrates the diverse ways that community practice is conceived and delineates both the central and subtle differences among models to guide community assessment, action planning, and practice. By knitting together the complex ideas from the social sciences and community practice, this book shows how to combine these ideas to improve teaching, practice, analysis, and research for social work faculty; social work students; practitioners in community work, administration, and social planning; an...
Bootstrap is a free and open-source front-end web framework for designing websites and web applications. It contains HTML- and CSS-based design templates for typography, forms, buttons, navigation and other interface components, as well as optional JavaScript extensions. Unlike many web frameworks, it concerns itself with front-end development only. Bootstrap is the second most-starred project on GitHub, with more than 100,000 stars and 45,000 forks.[2]

Read your free e-book: http://hotaudiobook.com/mebk/50/en/B000V2RVPO/book From environmental management to land planning and geo-marketing, the number of application domains that may greatly benefit from using data enriched with spatio-temporal features is expanding very rapidly. Unfortunately, development of new spatio-temporal applications is hampered by the lack of conceptual design methods suited to cope with the additional complexity of spatio-temporal data. This complexity is obviously due to the particular semantics of space and time, but also to the need for multiple representations of the same reality to address the diversity of requirements from highly heterogeneous user communities. Conceptual design methods are also needed to facilitate the exchange and reuse of existing data s...

Read your free e-book: http://hotaudiobook.com/mebk/50/en/B008KZUGNI/book Bringing together an international group of researchers involved in military, business, and health modeling and simulation, Conceptual Modeling for Discrete-event Simulation presents a comprehensive view of the current state of the art in the field. The book addresses a host of issues, including: What is a conceptual model?how is conceptual modeling performed in general and in specific modeling domains?what is the role of established approaches in conceptual modeling?each of the books six parts focuses on a different aspect of conceptual modeling for simulation. The first section discusses the purpose and requirements of a conceptual model. The next set of chapters provides frameworks and tools for conceptual modelin...
(April 27, 2012) Jeff Johnson and Austin Henderson lead a discussion in which they look at why and how conceptual models are so important in the design process of any product. They detail what the first steps of production should be and how "designing what to design" can alleviate many of the pains that come later in design processes. ReFusion IT : Evolutionary Conceptual modeling in Revit (Fluid, Organic, Irregular) using Fusion's 360 power Here's the praxis workflow map (you need to sign in with your Autodesk account): https://praxis.autodesk.com/praxis/viewer/b1a5cfb5eb5bf97ddad683533b72c554f777b2c3 The custom nodes "ReFusion IT Import & ReFusion IT Export" https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2QjrrkstZdEb05NbFg0cjJGNXc/view?usp=sharing This method which I've called "ReFusion IT" , Revit + Fusion 360. Uses the power of Fusion's sculpting abilities along with Revit's patterns and conceptual massing tools Let's face it, Revit is great, it's capabilities are huge, but in some cases, the creation of very irregular forms, fluid forms and fully organic forms, takes a lot of time and planning. As an Architect, my designs ...
Conceptual vs. Logical vs. Physical Data Models. An alternative viewpoint to Dave Hay's video "Kinds of Data Models - and How to Name Them" (http://bit.ly/QwSkOY). If the general view of conceptual model is a high-level, abstract view of a more detailed "logical" model, then I would argue that it is a matter of presentation, not a matter of modeling. There must be an underlying fully detailed logical model (whether to be built or already built) from which to present an abstract view. Furthermore, since all data modeling is done according to some logical modeling scheme, all data models are logical. Hence, the distinction between conceptual data models and logical data models is not very helpful. Our goal is to produce a data model which includes all the detail necessary for a complete...

November 9, 2007 lecture by Monty Hamontree for the Stanford University Human-Computer Interaction Seminar (CS 547). This talk delves into 5 interrelated keys that Microsoft teams focus on to elevate the impact of "design research". Namely how to: team insightfully as project teams; observe our users holistically; broker user and design patterns proudly; distill fresh insights collectively; and envision design essence vividly. A model of various design research modeling approaches is used to spur discussion around the strengths and weakness of each approach. Model-based systems engineering promotes the use of modeling and models as focal design artifacts to enhance the rigor and robustness of systems engineering activities throughout the various phases of a system's life cycle—with an emphasis on the early, conceptual phases. The Object Management Group's Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Object-Process Methodology (OPM) are the two conceptual modeling languages currently in use. In this presentation, MIT Visiting Professor Dov Dori will: highlight the working principles of OPM, with examples from various domains; explain the differences between OPM and SysML; and present the upcoming ISO 19450 OPM standard.
