A war dance is a dance involving mock combat, usually in reference to tribal warrior societies where such dances were performed as a ritual connected with endemic warfare. Martial arts in various cultures can be performed in dance-like settings for various reasons, such as for evoking ferocity in preparation for battle or showing off skill in a more stylized manner. It could also be for celebration of valor and conquest. Many such martial arts incorporate music, especially strong percussive rhythms.
Examples of such war dances include:
I Am may refer to:
Dance is a performance art form consisting of purposefully selected sequences of human movement. This movement has aesthetic and symbolic value, and is acknowledged as dance by performers and observers within a particular culture. Dance can be categorized and described by its choreography, by its repertoire of movements, or by its historical period or place of origin.
An important distinction is to be drawn between the contexts of theatrical and participatory dance, although these two categories are not always completely separate; both may have special functions, whether social, ceremonial, competitive, erotic, martial, or sacred/liturgical. Others disciplines of human movement are sometimes said to have a dance-like quality, including martial arts, gymnastics, figure skating, synchronized swimming and many other forms of athletics.
Theatrical dance, also called performance or concert dance, is intended primarily as a spectacle, usually a performance upon a stage by virtuoso dancers. It often tells a story, perhaps using mime, costume and scenery, or else it may simply interpret the musical accompaniment, which is often specially composed. Examples are western ballet and modern dance, Classical Indian dance and Chinese and Japanese song and dance dramas. Most classical forms are centred upon dance alone, but performance dance may also appear in opera and other forms of musical theatre.
Shí naashá (I am going/walking around) is a Navajo song, composed in 1868 to commemorate the release of the Navajo from internment at Fort Sumner. The song's lyrics express the elation of the Navajo people on the occasion of their return to their homeland. Unlike most other Navajo songs, "Shí naashá" is almost entirely translatable - there are few syllables that can not be replaced with an English word of the same meaning. The text of most Navajo songs is untranslatable. The word hózhǫ́ (beauty) is used throughout the song. Shí Naasha is the Unofficial Navajo National Anthem.:
Shaka Ponk (sometimes abbreviated as SHKPNK) is a French experimental rock band created in 2004. They mix different forms of popular music into their songs in addition to world music although predominately with an electronic rock sound. Lyrics are written mostly in a mixture of English, French and Spanish languages.
Shaka Ponk is a Paris-based band which blends rock, electronic, punk rock, funk rock and hip hop. The live show combines digital animation with an energetic display from the band members. Released under the French record label Tôt ou Tard/ Guess What! (Yael Naim - Piers Faccini), Bad Porn Movie Trax is composed of fourteen tracks including singles "How We Kill Stars" and "Do".
Shaka Ponk got its start between Paris and Berlin in 2005 from a concept that brings together music, imagery and energy. The former web designer and frontman of the group, Frah, along with guitarist, CC, came up with a project that combined conventional rock-n-roll elements (dirty guitar riffs and beats) with techniques such as VJing, which mixes sounds and images around an animated monkey character named Goz who is considered as much a part of the group as the other five members. Since then, the band has been active online creating videos and motion graphic work along their conceptual style as well as their own online channel, "Monkey TV".

Although it may sound dated now, back in 1984 this was an unbelievably big track. I used to listen to my local radio saturday nightclub show and all the DJs would talk about how this would get everybody dancing , whether they wanted to or not. It was such a "different" sounding record for its time ( Paul Hardcastle's "19" only came out a year later). IIRC this was actually made to accompany a World War II documentary on BBC TV , but was released due to public demand. The record company was based in Birkenhead and I assume it was recorded there too... 1984 Ryker

The Pyrrhic Dance is the most famous war dance in Greece. It dates back to ancient Thrace and the version shown on the video is the war dance of the Christian Greeks inhabitants of Pontos located in Asia Minor (Turkey). This is a traditional war dance (performed in the video by cadets of the Hellenic Army Academy). This war dance here commemorates the Greek genocide also known as the Pontian genocide, which was the systematic killing of the Greek population of the Ottoman Empire during World War I and its aftermath (1914--1923). An interpretation of a T'Boli war dance. "The T'Bolis do not regard death as inevitable, rather it is a trick played by the busao or evil spirits, or punishment inflicted by gods. This is rooted in the belief that one's spirit leaves one's body when one is asleep, and one awakens the moment the spirit returns. Thus, should the spirit not return, death occurs." Woke up in the morning
And I found that you're gone
Just a note "I am sorry"
And you left me alone
I can hardly remember
What happened last night
Guess we went to a party?
Did we get in a fight?
I need you so badly
Baby why did you go?
Woke up in the morning
I've had too much to drink
I don't know where my pants are
I'm still to drunk to think
You took my beer with you
In the fridge is the phone
I'm trying to call you
Why aren't to home
I need you so badly
Baby why did you go?
Woke up in the morning
And I found that you're gone
Just a note "I am sorry"
And you left me alone
I can hardly remember
What happened last night
Guess we went to a party?
Did we get in a fight?
I need you so badly
