7 Wonders of India: Barabar Caves
Barabar Caves are located 18 km north of Gaya in the Jehanabad District of Bihar. Consists of four caves including Lomas Rishi, Sudama, Karan Chopar (Nigoha-kubhaor Banyan Tree Cave) and Vishva Zopari. The caves fall under three categories, Nagarjuniya caves, Pandava caves and cottage-shaped hut caves. They are carved out of huge granite rocks, and two of them are in the form of a plain rectangular outer hall. Each cave carries Buddhist inscriptions and houses. These caves look as if they are cut with a laser. Used by ascetics from the Ajivika sect, these caves were founded by Makkhali Gosala. They were an influence to future South Asian rock-cut architecture. They are the oldest surviving rock-cut caves in India from the Mauryan period (322-185 BC).

Buddhist Caves in Bihar bear brunt of Maoism
Bihar, January 6 (ANI): Located deep inside the Barabar hills, the historical Barabar Caves are today, bearing the wrath of growing insurgency. The government's negligence has further discouraged tourists from visiting this spot. It is said that Mauryan Emperor Ashoka had these caves done up for the Buddhist monks in 200 BC Five caves were formed from one single granite-based hill and the caves measure around 120 metres.

Samanta Hot Video
Like us for more videos goo.gl subscribe for more Hot:goo.gl Samanta was a title and position used by the Indian nobility. The institution of Samanta finds mention for the first time in epigraphs of northern India dating to the 6th century.[1] The institution is considered to belong properly to the Gupta Empire[2] and is closely associated with the origin and growth of feudalism in India. However, the institution is known to have existed prior to the Gupta period, though details on them are vague. A Pallava inscription dating to the time of Santivarman (AD 455 - 470) uses the term Samanta-Chudamanayah (best feudatories).[3] The Samanta in South-India was used to mean a vassal to an emperor. In North-India, the earliest use of the term in a similar sense was in Bengal in the Barabar Hill Cave Inscription of the Maukhari Chief, Anantavarman (dating 6th century AD) in which his father is described as the Samanta-Chudamanih (best among feudatories) of the imperial Guptas.[4][5] The Samanta vassal provided military support to the Monarch and governed over a portion of a territory. In South-India, the Samantas originated from different clans and took the title Raju.

The buildings of Fatehpur Sikri show a synthesis of various regional schools of architectural craftsmanship. Built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory) near Agra was the capital of the Mughal Empire for some 10 years. The complex of monuments, all in a uniform architectural style, includes one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid.

7 Wonders of India: Mahabodhi Temple
Mahabodhi Temple is located in Bodhgaya in Gaya district of Bihar. Constructed of brick, the temple is surrounded on all four sides by stone railings, about two metres high. The railings reveal two distinct types, both in style as well as the materials used. This is the place where Buddha attained enlightenment. Buddhist Emperor Asoka visited Bodh Gaya with the intention of establishing a monastery and shrine. As part of the temple, he built the diamond throne (called the Vajrasana), attempting to mark the exact spot of where the Buddha's enlightenment was established. It is one of the oldest brick structures to have survived in eastern India.
