Personal Defense Network: Airplane Travel with a Firearm
Rob Pincus reviews the procedures for checking a firearm in with your luggage at the airport. These procedures are not consistent from airport to airport and have changed with time -- check the latest regulations online with TSA and your airline before flying. Three key points are that you must follow all steps to be legal, conform to airline regulations, and secure your checked firearm. Rob passes along some valuable tips for making this process easier, based on his years of flying with checked firearms.- published: 12 Nov 2013

The most versatile firearm? - My opinion
The most versatile firearm? - My opinion
As far as all the different loads, projectiles, and mechanisms is concerned, I don't think you can get any more versatility than with a 12 gauge shotgun. Tons of different types of shells, from fine bird shot to 00 buckshot, slugs, rubber balls and all kinds of improvised stuff, as well as adapters for different calibers, there is a staggering amount of options. And then of course you can also choose between break-action, pump-action and semi-automatic models. Definitely a "gun of all trades". The shotguns shown in the video are a Remington 870 Express Tactical and a Dominion Arms Outlaw, which comes at "sawed off" length from factory and is 100% legal in Canada. How a firearm works - Animation (1911 semi-auto handgun)
How a firearm works - Animation (1911 semi-auto handgun)
A 2D Flash animation that I made in order to explain how firearms work to those who have no prior knowledge about them. The larger internal moving parts (barrel, recoil spring, firing pin) as well as the components of a cartridge (bullet, powder, primer) are shown in a semi-transparent cutaway view. I also included a voice-over to explain what is happening when the pistol is operated. The discharge of a cartridge as it is shown in the video applies to rifles and other firearms as well. Feel free to show this video to newbies if you want to explain to them how a semi-automatic gun functions in a clear graphic way. You may also use this animated video in a presentation if you like, but whenever possible please use the online link rather than a downloaded version. The applications used to create this handgun animation were Adobe Flash Professional CS6, Sony Vegas Pro and Adobe Audition CS6.
