Marina Abramović (Serbian Cyrillic: Марина Абрамовић; born November 30, 1946) is a Belgrade-born New York-based Serbian performance artist who began her career in the early 1970s. Active for over three decades, she has recently begun to describe herself as the "grandmother of performance art". Abramović's work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind.
Marina Abramović's great uncle was Patriarch Varnava of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Both of her parents were Partisans during the Second World War: her father Vojo was a commander who was acclaimed as a national hero after the War; her mother Danica was a major in the army, and in the mid-sixties was Director of the Museum of the Revolution and Art in Belgrade.
Abramović's father left the family in 1964. In an interview published in 1998, she described how her "mother took complete military-style control of me and my brother. I was not allowed to leave the house after 10 o'clock at night till I was 29 years old. ... [A]ll the performances in Yugoslavia I did before 10 o'clock in the evening because I had to be home then. It's completely insane, but all of my cutting myself, whipping myself, burning myself, almost losing my life in the firestar, everything was done before 10 in the evening."
Noah Becker is a painter, art writer and publisher. Becker is also a jazz saxophonist. He has exhibited his paintings in the Vancouver Art Gallery group exhibition How Soon is Now in 2009
Becker is the founder and editor-in-chief of Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art, an online art magazine. He is also a contributing writer for Art in America Magazine, Canadian Art Magazine and the Huffington Post.
In 2009 Becker was one of 15 artists nominated for the RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) Painting Prize in 2009. This exhibition toured Becker's painting to Musée D'Art Contemporain De Montréal and the Power Plant in Toronto.
Becker has exhibited in Switzerland, New York, and Miami at NADA Art Fair.
Becker's first Jazz CD "Where We Are" features guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. Becker's recent recordings as a sideman have been with Canadian hip hop artist Moka Only.
The Vieilles Charrues Festival (French: Festival des Vieilles Charrues; Breton: Gouel an Erer Kozh; literally: Old Ploughs Festival) is held every year in mid-July in the city of Carhaix located in the west of Brittany.
This festival is the largest music festival in France, attracting more than 200,000 festival-goers every year (240,000 in 2010). This festival was created in 1992 in Landeleau, a small village in central Finistère. At that time, less than 500 revellers attended and the festival was more like a private party. The following year, the festival welcomed more than 2000 and that was the beginning of its success story. In 1995, due to lack of space on the original site, the festival moved to Carhaix city center and in 1998, for the same reason, the festival chose a site on the outskirts of Carhaix.

Sigmar Polke (13 February 1941 – 10 June 2010) was a German painter and photographer.
Polke experimented with a wide range of styles, subject matter and materials. In the 1970s, he concentrated on photography, returning to paint in the 1980s, when he produced abstract works created by chance through chemical reactions between paint and other products. In the last 20 years of his life, he produced paintings focused on historical events and perceptions of them.
Polke, the seventh in a family of eight children, was born in Oels in Lower Silesia. He fled with his family to Thuringia in 1945, during the expulsion of Germans after World War II. His family escaped from the Communist regime in East Germany in 1953, traveling first to West Berlin and then to West Germany Rhineland.
Upon his arrival in West Germany, in Willich near Krefeld, Polke began to spend time in galleries and museums and worked as an apprentice in a stained glass factory in Düsseldorf between 1959 and 1960, before entering the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (Arts Academy) at age twenty. From 1961 to 1967 he studied at the Düsseldorf Arts Academy under Karl Otto Götz, Gerhard Hoehme and deeply influenced by his teacher Joseph Beuys. He began his creative output during a time of enormous social, cultural, and artistic changes in Germany and elsewhere. During the 1960s, Düsseldorf, in particular, was a prosperous, commercial city and an important centre of artistic activity. In the early 1970s Polke lived at the Gaspelhof, an artists' commune.
Promise me you'll remember
This love together today
We may not have tomorrow
It's not for us to say
Fate isn't kind to lovers
It breaks the hardest hearts
Promise you'll remember
How good we are
Why do I find the sadness
Under your sweetest kiss
Destiny seems to whisper
It won't stay like this
Whenever we're together
I feel time standing still
I only know I love you
And I always will
If we should lose each other
Somewhere inside the dark
Promise me you'll remember
How good we are
Whenever we're together
I feel time standing still
I only know I love you
And I always will
If we should lose each other
Somewhere inside the dark
Promise me you'll remember
How good we are
Time isn't kind to lovers
It breaks the hardest hearts
Promise me you'll remember
I have but one heart,
this heart I bring you,
I have but one heart
to share with you,
I have but one dream
that I can cling to,
You are the one dream
I pray comes true.
My darling, until I saw you,
I never felt this way,
And nobody else before you,
ever has heard me say,
You are my one love,
my life I live for you,
I have but one heart
to give to you.
Dicimo o mari, facimu l'amore,
A curi a curi che ci passa,
Ca u mare parla e na' carezza,
Ma a tia la brezza, fina murir.
My darling, until I saw you,
I never felt this way,
And nobody else before you,
ever has heard me say,
You are my one love,
my love I live for you,
I have but one heart
A rose must remain with the sun and the rain
Or its lovely promise won't come true
To each his own, to each his own
And my own is you
What good is a song if the words just don't belong?
And a dream must be a dream for two
No good alone, to each his own
For me there's you
CHORUS
If a flame is to grow there must be a glow
To open each door there's a key
I need you, I know, I can't let you go
Your touch means too much to me
Two lips must insist on two more to be kissed
Or they'll never know what love can do
To each his own, I've found my own
Speak softly love
And hold me warm against your heart
I feel your words
The tender trembling moments start
We're in our world
Our very own
Sharing a love that only
Few have ever known
Wine colored days, warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights, when we are one
Speak softly love
So no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make
Will live until we die
My life is yours
And all because
You came into my world with
Love so softly love
[Musical interlude]
Speak softly love
So no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make
Will live until we die
My life is yours
And all because
You came into my world with
What is a youth?
Impetuous fire.
What is a maid?
Ice and desire.
The world wags on
A rose will bloom,
it then will fade
So does a youth.
So does the fairest maid.
Comes a time when one sweet smile
Has its season for awhile
Then Love's in love with me
Some may think only to marry.
Others will tease and tarry.
Mine is the very best parry,
Cupid he rules us all.
Caper the caper; sing me the song
Death will come soon to hush us along
Sweeter than honey and bitter as gall,
Love is a task and it never will pall.
Sweeter than honey and bitter as gall,
Cupid he rules us all.
A rose will bloom, it then will fade.
So does a youth.
What is a youth?
Impetuous fire.
What is a maid?
Ice and desire.
The world wags on
A rose will bloom,
it then will fade
So does a youth.
So does the fairest maid.
Comes a time when one sweet smile
Has its season for awhile
Then Love's in love with me
