An If Not Why Not Media Production Directed, Shot and Edited by Gareth Kaatze "Pen & ink" is a limited edition artist series. The focus will revolve around the RAW aspects of illustration, something that is hand generated and pays homage to the imagination. DiRTY COLLECTiVE, developed as a concept store for local clothing brands, artists and designers and will be used as a means to expose local creatives to a wide range of audiences across South Africa and throughout the world, while making their brands and products also readily available for purchase online. Therefore the topic for the first limited edition series is “LOCALS ONLY”. Artists weer encouraged to interprate the brief in which ever way they saw fit and are where not restricted in any way. The five featured artists in this limited edition range, were hand picked from South Africa's top creatives coming from various fields and backgrounds, namely: - NijaBreadBoy, a Cape Town based Illustrator and street artist. - SkullBoy, a Durban based illustrator and artist. - Bruce Mackay, a Cape Town based illustrator and artist. - Lee Herbert, a Cape Town based tattoo artist representing Sins of Style tattoo parlour. - Riot, a Jozi based illustrator and graffiti artist. The artists where asked to illustrate on an A3 page (Portrait) which was then scanned in at a high resolution (600dpi) and silk screened at the exact size that it was drawn. This is an idea that was developed to show case the insane skills of our local creative’s, and as something opposed to the Computer generated / Vector graphics which dominate the clothing industry today! Each of the artist's Illustrations are limited to 30 T-shirts, adding to the exclusivity of the collection and are exclusively available through Dirty Collective on-line store!
