Andrew Ellis

Andrew "Andy" Ellis (born 21 February 1984) is a New Zealand rugby union player who specialises in the position of scrum-half. He currently plays for the Crusaders in the Super Rugby league and Canterbury in provincial rugby.

Career

In 2005 Ellis played in the New Zealand under-21 side. His Super 14 rookie year saw him oust All Black Kevin Senio from the Crusaders starting line-up. Ellis missed the 2006 Super 14 Final after sustaining a knee injury in the semi-final against the Bulls.

Although injury meant Ellis was unavailable for the 2006 All Blacks tests against Ireland and Argentina, he was later named to make his All Black debut against England at Twickenham. For the 2007 Rugby World Cup Ellis was selected ahead of Wellington halfback Piri Weepu.

In 2013 Ellis joined Classic Hits FM Christchurch's breakfast show.

Ellis wasn't selected for the All Blacks Squad after the World Cup in 2011. He continued to play for the Crusaders Rugby Team and played 45+ games since then. He has been tipped as a 3rd Halfback for the 2015 Rugby World Cup with Tawera Kerr Barlow out for 9 months.

The Knife That Killed Me is a young adult novel by Anthony McGowan, published in 2008. It has been shortlisted for the Booktrust Teenage Prize, longlisted for the Guardian Award and longlisted for the Manchester Book Award.

Plot summary

The Knife that Killed Me is a novel which follows a teenager, Paul Varderman, as he tries to fit in with a group in his school.

At the beginning of the book, he is a loner, looking into the groups from the outside. A series of events in which he stands up for members of a group known as "The Freaks" lead to him becoming included by them. "The Freaks" are different from the other groups as they do not live under the rule of the school thug, Roth.

As Paul becomes more involved with "The Freaks", he also begins to become influenced by Roth. Roth uses Paul as a messenger between himself and a rival school and gives him a knife. The relationship between the two schools develops, with Roth leading the way to war between them.

The Knife That Killed Me (film)

The Knife That Killed Me is a 2014 British drama film that was funded as a Kickstarter project. The story about a teenage boy who becomes involved in knife crime was adapted from the novel by Anthony McGowan. It was filmed in York, North Yorkshire in a purpose-built green screen stage at GSP Studios (at the former ARTTS International film school) at Bubwith, entirely on green screens. Production began in mid-February 2012 and filming began in mid-April. The film was released on 24 October 2014.

A casting call for the role of Paul was posted on October 26, 2011 and another for 'Yorkshire-based teenagers' was posted on January 9, 2012; the latter also states that Jeremy Zimmerman was the casting director.

James Christian Charters (born 18 January 1988), better known as Ironik (formerly as DJ Ironik), is a British musician, DJ and rapper. His genre of music varies from hip hop, grime, R&B and UK garage.

DJ Ironik has had three UK top 10 hits; Stay With Me charted at #5, Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer) charted at #3 and also I Got Soul, a charity single which reached #10 in the UK charts and has also had several top 5 hits in other European countries.

Early life

"DJ Ironik" (born James Charters) was born in North London, England to parents from Barbados. He decided on a career in music at an early age when doing GCSE in music He started his career as a DJ working in clubs, initially in his home country but his talent was quickly spotted and he moved around Europe. Every record he released charted in the Top 40 UK Charts throughout 2008-2011.

Career

His first single, "So Nice", was released in summer of 2007. It achieved popularity on the British music channels, including remaining in the top 3 of the viewer request chart on Channel U for 20 weeks, however it had limited success elsewhere.

"Killed Me" is the fifth official single by Ironik, featuring vocals from singer McLean. It is the second single from Ironik's second untitled album. The single was released on March 13, 2011 for digital download. It Failed to chart within the UK Singles Chart.
