Trader Tip

4.25 Ripon – Thornaby Princess

Marjorie Fife’s three-year-old hasn’t been since on the racecourse since finishing 3rd at Catterick in a maiden at the end of August last year, which could temper enthusiasm somewhat, but there is good reason to think a good run could be in order on her seasonal debut. On her first start she was beaten into 3rd by two horses now rated in the 90s and if you take a look at her staying-on 3rd, in said Catterick maiden, she makes up a lot of ground from the rear and widest of all to finish within 2 ½ lengths of the front two, who are now rated 74 and 76.

This daughter of Camacho has her first start in handicaps off a mark of a potentially lenient looking 60 and her draw, 12th of 13, can also be viewed as a positive if her jockey makes use of her early. Election Night could be well-in here but has a job on his hands from a single figure draw and a chance is worth taking on Thornaby Princess at an each-way price.
