Joey + Rory are an American country and bluegrass duo composed of singer-songwriters Rory Lee Feek and Joey Martin Feek, who are husband and wife. Joey is the duo's lead vocalist, while Rory sings background vocals and plays guitar. The duo was the third-place finalist on CMT's competition Can You Duet in 2008. That same year, Joey + Rory signed to Sugar Hill/Vanguard Records, releasing their debut album The Life of a Song in late October. This album's lead-off single, "Cheater, Cheater", was a Top 40 hit on the Billboard country charts. Although none of their other singles made top 40 on that chart, the duo released six studio albums in total.
Before the duo's foundation, Rory Lee Feek worked as a songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee, and he has continued to work as a songwriter as a member of Joey + Rory. Songs he wrote for other artists include Clay Walker's Top Five hit "The Chain of Love", Blake Shelton's Number One hit "Some Beach", and Jimmy Wayne's 2008 single "I Will". Rory also founded the independent label Giantslayer Records in 2004, on which Joey recorded a solo album entitled Strong Enough to Cry in 2005. This album was released in CD format and digital download in 2008. Rory also recorded a solo album on Giantslayer Records, titled My Ol' Man, which he made available only as a download.
He said Ill call you Hon when I get there,
Ten minutes later he was in the air,
She dropped the kids at school and headed home,
Walked in and turned the front room TV on
She could tell that there was something wrong,
Every channel had the same thing on,
Now seven years have come and gone away,
But shes still hurting like its yesterday,
Cuz she wants to put her arms around his neck,
and look in his eyes so blue,
and say Honey I dont regret,
A single day I spent with you,
She wants to tell him that she loves him so,
and will until the day she dies,
It aint that she cant let him go,
She just wants to say goodbye
He sits beside her in the nursing home,
Through her silver hair he runs a comb,
He hangs their wedding picture on the wall,
She dont remember who he is at all,
He tells her stories about the life theyve lived,
From their first kiss to their last grandkids,
For seven months now she just sits and stares,
But if she wakes up hes gonna be right there,
Cuz he wants to put his arms around her neck,
and look in her eyes so blue,
and say Honey I wont forget,
a single day I spent with you,
He wants to tell her that he loves her so,
and will until the day he dies,
it aint that he cant let her go,
He just wants to say goodbye
No it aint let that we cant let them go,
