The Tughlaq dynasty (Persian: سلسلہ تغلق‎) was a Turkic dynasty of Delhi sultanate, whose reign started in 1321 in Delhi when Ghazi Malik assumed the throne under the title of Ghiyath al-Din Tughluq. The Tughluqs were a Muslim family of Turkic origin.

The empire grew under his son and successor Muhammad bin Tughluq, but the latter became notorious for ill-advised policy experiments such as shifting the capital from Delhi to Daulatabad and introducing copper coins without effective regulation against forgery. Tughluqi has as a result become synonym for brilliant if stubborn eccentricity in the Urdu language.

After Muhammad bin Tughluq died, a collateral relative, Mahmud Ibn Muhammad, ruled for less than a month, until a cousin Feroz Shah Tughlaq killed him and assumed the throne. His rule was somewhat weak militarily, mainly because of inept army. After Feroz died in 1388, the Tughlaq dynasty's power continued to fade, and no more able leaders came to the throne; the dynasty was essentially over within 10 years.

Commander Firoz Shah (Urdu: ﻓﻴﺮﻭﺯﺷﺎﻩ) (7 January 1914 – 6 August 2007), SI (M) was the second principal of Cadet College Petaro, one of the earliest public schools built in Pakistan back in 1957. He joined the Royal Navy in undivided India in 1938 and fought during the Second World War as a part of the British war machine. He was awarded the coveted Sitara-e-Imtiaz award by the Government of Pakistan in 2007 for his meritorious services to Cadet College Petaro

Firoz Shah was born on 7 January 1914 at Pind Dadan Khan near Chakwal, Jhelum District, Punjab. He graduated from the Punjab University, Kitchener's College, Nowgong (in undivided India). Subsequently, he graduated from the Royal Navy College in London. He married Sughra on 24 November 1940. They had three children: two sons (Shafqat and Sajjad) and one daughter. His wife Sughra expired in 1996.

Shah joined the Royal Navy in 1938 in undivided India and served under the British command until 1947. He also fought the Second World War under the British flag.

Lakshmi Narayanan is the vice chairman and ex-CEO of Cognizant. He was the CEO and president of Cognizant until 2006. ^[1]

Lakshmi has played a leading role in the global information technology industry for more than 25 years, managing divisions and business units in Europe, India and the United States. Since joining Cognizant Technologies in 1994, he has been instrumental in formulating the company’s strategy and building and managing the organization’s development centers in India, where he is based. A member of Cognizant’s Board of Directors, Lakshmi spends time traveling extensively in the U.S. and Europe to meet clients.

Lakshmi began his career at Tata Consultancy Services, growing through the ranks from developer, to technologist, to program manager, to business leader. He was a regional head of Tata in India when he joined Cognizant as CTO. He holds a BS and MS in science and electronics from Bangalore University (University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering) and an PG Diploma from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
